A song for you, from me
Alffe got me thinking about songs/music and how it can generate a thought about people, so I thought I would try to put music to people and the thoughts they conjure up in my mind.
I hope you like yours [from my interpretation] For Reyn, Lonely one, Nicky, MandaC , Bamboo, Blue-majo, Steve, doxiemama, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRMz8fKkG2g A beautiful piece of music tinged with sadness, and yet so much inner strength, this is a journey through dark times with the hint of a new dawn, even spring in the air: For Addy, Moi, Feeling Goofy, curious, Doody GamaSue http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6A-JYbu1Os A busy tune for busy people......with an air of great humour to boot, and industrious. Alffe no i have never been to the Allendale Tar Barrel event [but would love to go one day]
Below is a festival tradition that is on my door step.....every year first Fiday in June. 10 villages stage whats called 'the greatest free show on earth' It goes on all day, some bigger villages get up to 100 bands pass through. Where i go about 50 [this year about 45 as it was raining all day] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhVGOlDNEYM David |
Alffe
below is one you would like ....in the village of UPPERMILL every year is a weekend called Yanks Weekend.........in mememory of the film Yanks with Richard Geer which was film in parts of this village........ a weekend of wartime memorabilla and crazy dance nights.. [war re-enactment and Spitfire/lancaster bomber flypast on the sunday] next year we are hiring costumes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98P_C...eature=related David |
Alffe
the link below i have been too in 1984.....it is the craziest night ever 5th of november BONFIRE NIGHT [GUY FAWKES NIGHT] PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THIS TOWN merge in on huge prossession that then divides into 5 routes out of the town for seperate bonfire parties.. sadly you cant see all the TUDOR like buildings of this old town on this link...but on the night when muskateers march through dragging cages of burning matter...and noise of explosions every where....its like being in a time warp of 1700 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeJOh...eature=related David |
You can't know how very much I am enjoying those links David. I think I've told you before that I feel a mistake was made...I was meant to live in England...my heart is there and watching those links reminded me of our wonderful trip to London....the names of the places we visited..Cotswolds, Moreton in Marsh, Stow on the Wold, Bourton on the Water....I loved it!!
Did I admit that we arrived in Bath so hungry...the first place we came upon to eat was called The Open House Centre on Manvers St and the food was so good and so reasonably priced....when we realized that we were in a soup kitchen, run by volunteers from the Baptist Church!! They were so gracious to us...needless to say we left a sizable donation. :o The rain certainly didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the musicians! :D What fun...traditions are wonderful! Thank you for sharing and I'm going to spend a lot of time looking at the other links on those pages. |
