I got a job offer!!!!!!!!

It's a sales job and I just got a voice mail that I got the job and human resources will be calling me on Monday to make an offer!!!! :D

I might be getting another job offer next week too for a local governement job!!!!!!!

What to do??? The sales job is harder (have to be on my feet a lot) but it's doing something I love.

If I get offered the other job it will pay a bit less (but they both have great benefits!) And that would be a desk job also doing something I enjoy!!??

Holy moly, who'd a thought I'd have this sort of dilemma at 51 years old and with MS??? :D

:Dancing-Chilli::Dancing-Chilli::Dancing-Chilli::Dancing-Chilli:

All of my feverish job hunting and networking is paying off!!!!! :D

Twinkletoes 12-16-2009 03:51 PM

Congratulations! :You-Rock:

I'd say go with the one you love.

Or not... :D

You'll figure it out, I'm sure! Keep us posted!

ummm, want me to tend your cute kitty while you're gone to work? ;)

barb02 12-16-2009 04:42 PM

Congratulations!!!:D

karousel 12-16-2009 04:46 PM

Congratulations! Make a list of the pros and cons of each job and see where it takes you.

Jules A 12-16-2009 05:32 PM

Many, many congratulations! Personally I'm all about the government jobs because of the great benefits. Let us know what you decide.

SallyC 12-16-2009 07:16 PM

Nice going, Wizzer. The desk job may be better, longer term?

Vonn07 12-16-2009 07:37 PM

oooo ooooo ... here's your chance to bargain a bit ...

sit down and write out the pros and cons for each job ... and then when you talk to them on Monday - ask if you can give them an answer in a couple of days ... because you have another offer that you are considering ...

they may give you some extra $$$ ... OH, and remember your AMA requests ... even tho you may be on your feet alot ... still have the opportunity to have a stool and extra breaks ...

best to you, my friend!!

Riverwild 12-16-2009 08:50 PM

Congrats Wiz! :)

Whichever one you choose, you will do well, cause you're Wiz!

NurseNancy 12-16-2009 09:50 PM

i wish i could offer advice. what a choice.
but...congratulations wiz. it's all just terrific.

you might consider job security as 1 point to consider.

ewizabeth 12-16-2009 09:57 PM

They would both offer job security! The sales job is with a Fortune 100 company known to offer great benefits and to be especially good to employees. The manager even spoke about me going into management possibly later on, or going to work for corporate in the suburbs.

The local government job would likely stay the same because it's a small town but there would be salary increases, etc... over the years.

Vonn07 12-16-2009 10:55 PM

you're a smart cookie, Wiz-girl ... whichever you choose - I'll support you 100-gazillion percent!!

kicker 12-17-2009 07:53 AM

Think retirement benefits. Sales may have promotions but economy not great right now. If MS rears it's ugly head, which might be better for you? Pros and cons. MS means looking carefully at futures. (and you ain't no spring chicken anymore, know what I mean?)

soxmom 12-17-2009 11:28 AM

Yay Wiz! All your hard work has paid off. You go!

Grammie 2 3 12-17-2009 04:41 PM

WOW!!! Congrats :D Happy for you!
Linda

Debbie D 12-17-2009 05:52 PM

Let us know what you end up deciding...you'll know in your gut which one is best...:)

Hockey 12-17-2009 06:14 PM

Congratulations! I love when nice things happen to nice people.:)

Jodylee 12-18-2009 01:43 PM

Good for you Wiz! :D. I'd look closely at the retirement and long term disability benefits if I had to decide. Of course, liking the job and the people are the most important things. I'm sure you'll pick the right one for you :).

FaithS 12-22-2009 11:28 PM

I'd prob go the safe way, and choose the desk job. I know I can't be on my feet for more than about 20 minutes. But, I hope whatever you decide works out for you.

Congrats!

~ Faith

pud's friend 12-23-2009 03:48 AM

Congratulations. I'm green with envy. I want a job too...
well done.

dmplaura 12-23-2009 09:31 AM

Congratulations!!! :D

I'd say go with option 1. My logic in this is you'll be doing something you love and if you're happy, this will hopefully mean less stress and therefore an ease in symptoms and better overall well being.

So happy for you!! :)

ewizabeth 12-23-2009 10:11 AM

I "accepted" the sales job and the start date is January 4th. BUT, I have an interview on Monday for the accounting job so if they tell me I get that job and it looks better, I'll rescind my acceptance of the first job before the first day.

I feel so lucky to be in this position!!! :)

Vonn07 12-23-2009 11:53 AM

AWESOME!! you go, smarty-pants girl!!

Twinkletoes 12-23-2009 12:56 PM

I'm so glad you made up your mind.

I hate indecision

I think...

You go, girl!

Debbie D 12-23-2009 03:25 PM

What a great Christmas blessing!! Whatever you choose to do, I hope you enjoy your new job!!

Well??? What'll it be?

Is tomorrow your BIG DAY??? :)

ewizabeth 01-03-2010 11:14 AM

Ok they're still taking a very long time deciding (or letting me know) about the accounting job. I finally did some calling and emailing and I should know next week. They might actually be putting together some sort of other job from what I heard through the grapevine. They also need a billing clerk; and I was telling them I have some experience in seeking grants, technical writing and computer trouble shooting so they might want me for those reasons even if I didn't get the accounting job (which would be fine with me as long as it paid as well.)

But I'm going to be starting the sales job tomorrow because "a job in the hand is worth two in the bush" lol. If they make a better offer for the other job, I'll explain to the first employer and hopefully they'll understand. It's not like they don't have a lot of people who'd be willing to take my place anyway.

I'll be staying in the 'burbs for the training M-TH night because the weather is too nasty to commute when I'm trying to concentrate and learn a new job.

NurseNancy 01-03-2010 12:51 PM

let us know how it pans out.
good luck tomorrow and in the new year.
