Car accident today, totaled my vehicle.
This month has been my worst month ever.
I was t-boned today. Totaled my vehicle. *edit* . Didn't see it until I was out in the highway. It happened right in front of the healthcare place that Susan works at an takes care of me so the people there knew me and took care of me until the ambulance came. My left side of my head hit the window and shattered it. They put me in restraints until they were sure my neck wasn't hurt. Devin is with me tonight. I don't have a concusion but I couldn't be left alone. First, I get the vehicle fix, then my pipes freeze and now I total my car. What a month. Ada |
Oh Adam how terrible, I'm so glad you were sereiously hurt, but the trauma I'm sure will be with you a while. Sometime the aches and pains don't show up for a day or so. Make sure you don't need a MRI- I got a ruptured disc from a fall and rsd settled in it. You have car insurance right? They'll pay for your bills.
I agree with you, this disorder is financially draining over the years and is long term with lots of losses. I miss working too. Let us know how you are doing over the next few days. your friend, loretta with soft hugs:grouphug: |
I hope you don't have any repercussions or flare ups from this ..
I sent you a PM also. :grouphug: |
Ada,
I'm so sorry, so sorry that this happened to you! I'm lost as to what to say, other than make sure that you get checked out well, and that your head is ok. When I injured my head, it took a while for the hematoma to form. So be very careful if you get sleepy constantly, watch for signs! May God be with you! Keep us up to date when you can? pete |
Ada,
I am so sorry. I hope you feel better but take it easy. Aches and pains show up a day or so after. Hope you feel better and that your luck changes. |
Dear Ada,
I'm so sorry. I wish I could help you in some way. But I am too far away. Please take care, and like everyone says, watch your head. Keep us updated. I am glad you have your kids around to help you. We all love you and care, please keep us updated on how you are doing. Sandy |
Hi Ada,
I'm so sorry about your car accident. As the others have said, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you monitor yourself for injuries. Often time it can take days or even weeks for boo boos to become obvious. Shock and swelling can hide a lot of damage. As an MVA survivor, I am terribly concerned about how hard you struck your head. I can't imagine taking a blow of that force without sustaining some sort of brain injury. I don't mean to scare you, but these things are often overlooked by doctors and rarely show up on standard MRIs or CAT scans. How are you feeling cognitively? Are you foggy? Can you count backwards by threes? Can you close your eyes and touch your nose. Can you walk heel to toe? Do you have headache? Is light and/or sound bothering you? Are you dizzy? Do you have an upset stomach? How is your speech? (Did you just call your dog a dumptruck?) Are you unusually angry, depressed or irritable? Are your pupils equal and reactive? My last bit of advice is to get a good lawyer ASAP. Those scum ball insurance company adjuster will be at your house in no time. Even when you're not at fault for an accident, it's seldom wise to deal with them on your own. SIGN NOTHING!!!!! Take Care:hug: |
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for all of the well wishes.
Today, my right side is flared and my neck is bothering me. I am also having some dizzy spells. I am waiting for my PCP to call me to see what his thoughts are on it. The hospital did a cat scan of my brain but not my neck. This hospital here is known for it's lousy care. Of course when I watch tv and sees what goes on elsewhere in the ER's I know it's not the only one. My RSD is worse on my right side and even though I got hit on the left, it's my right that is trying to come out today. Hockey, I couldn't count backward by 3's before the accident. LOL I didn't pass out though, I was sick at my stomach yesterday for awhile afterward. I've been on the phone all morning dealing with the insurance and giving my vehicle away. Luckily, I was the only one hurt so that was a plus there. Thanks again for the help and good thoughts. Ada |
Hi ada
Hi Ada,
I'm so sorry to hear about your accident, what a shame. Please look after yourself. |
Hi Ada,
Dizziness and stomach upset are two common symptoms of concussion. How are you sleeping? Yeah, I know it's hard to ferret all this out when there are underlying conditions. Try to get as much rest as you can. |
Hi Ada
Im glad that the Lord was with you and you werent killed or paralyzed,,,,your in my prayers,,I pray for pain relief and a remission,,,,bobber |
Hi,
My Dr. called me yesterday to check on me and he said I did have a concussion. I still have the dizziness and my stomach upset comes and goes.
I'm going out to my kids' house today to spend Christmas with them. Travis will do most of the cooking so I won't have to worry about that. When I turn my head a certain way or bend over I get dizzy. Hopefully it will start getting better here soon. I see my Dr. Monday for him to check my neck and arm out. Thanks for the prayers and good thoughts everyone. I do hope all of you have a Happy Happy Holiday season. MERRY CHRISTMAS. Ada |
Dear Ada,
Thanks for letting us know how you are doing. I'm thinking of you and hope you don't have any long term repercussions from this accident. Please take it easy and try to relax. Merry Christmas. MsL |

I was T-boned years ago and I spent a week in hospital with a collapsed lung and my left shoulder was so messed up I couldn't move my arm at all for two months. Let's hope you heal fully quickly with no lingering effects.

I'm so sorry to hear about your accident Ada! I hope you feel better soon and that your right side doesn't become a full flare. Take care of yourself and get some rest. Merry Christmas, BTW. Sorry it has been a bad month for you; I will be praying for you.

Hi,
I hope all of you had a very good Christmas day.
I had a good day with the family. The kids got me a laptop and Liz Taylor cologne and a neck massager. My son-in-law listens to what everyone tells him they want and they usually get it. Very smart. I had a horrible headache though and laid down 2 or 3 times to rest. I was tired due to Travis getting us up at 6. We watched It's a Wonderful Life and A Christmas story. We watch those every year. Today, I feel like I have a hangover. Hopefully no headache today but I am still dealing with the dizzy spells. I got my arm and neck calmed down. I started working on them right away with lidocaine patches, heating pads and Methadone and laid around Thursday. That helped a lot. I hope all of you had a good day yesterday. Painfree and fun. Ada |
I had exact situation!!!
I was in a car accident in 2007, where I was hit head on and I banged the left side of my head and shattered the glass. I got Brachial Plexopathy and Lumbar RSD as a result. Got my car repaired (took a month) and went to physical therapy for months, got injections for disc herniations. Then.... POW!!! Some other guy hits me going through a red light and totals my car!! 2 MVA's within a year. More cervical and lumbar pain, chronic knee pain, and bursitus and tendinopathy in left shoulder. As if the RSD in 4 limbs from the first accident wasn't enough! I truly have learned that THINGS CAN ALWAYS GET WORSE, EVEN IF THINGS ARE ALREADY BAD!!
I'm so sorry for your misfortune, Ada. It is such a long road to recover from something that takes a split-second to happen. Pain wise and financially. It's been almost 3 years since my first accident (and 2 years from second accident) and I have not seen 1 dime and don't see a settlement date in sight. We are even so financially devasted that I can no longer afford the meds and physical therapy I need ( I can no longer work) and we're on the brink of bankruptcy. It is truly cruel and abusive, and the insurance companies don't give a crap!!! I hope you get the care you need and deserve, and do not have to suffer with anymore misfortunes ;) Extra Gentle Hugs, Vanna |
Hi Vanna,
Your sad tale is so like mine. As if being physically ruined isn't enough, we're being driven into poverty by an accident I had no part in causing. We've lost my income and gained a mountain of new expenses. It's been three years and I haven't seen a dime either. My lawyer says it will take years more to get a settlement - if I last that long. lol The insurance companies are just evil. Cheers |
Ada,
I'm sorry for my last post, there's an example of what forgetting my brain med (aricept) for a couple days does. I can't stay on track, and just start rambling. Did you have a CT scan, or MRI? Your doctor says you have a concussion, which you describe some symptoms of, so I was wondering if anything turned up on a scan? Just to repeat, I've had rsd and tos since 83, and acquired my brain injury (tbi) in 98, which also herniated some discs due to the way I was hit. I've developed all sorts of sleep problems as well. Along with a "wealth" of little odd things.... Here is the website for the Brain Injury Association of America. It will have links to state resources as well... I hope that it starts to give you an idea, on how to educate yourself about this. http://www.biausa.org/ As with all injuries of such a nature, some days will be better than others. I hope you heal up quickly and have no lasting problems / anomalies. love and prayers, Pete |
Hi,
I saw my Dr. today. He put triggerpoint injections in my shoulder. I go back Wednesday for him to do it again in hopes to calm things down to see what is going on.
He said that this concusion thing could last for 6 weeks. I won't be driving until I get over the dizziness for sure. Vanna, things can get worse for sure. This month for me has been the worst month I have had in a long time. I am hoping next year will be better. I actually got hit twice in the past 2 months. A friend hit me in the front end in Nov. It did a job on her little sports car but not mine that time but this time mine is totaled. The kids got my truck going so I have to go get tags for it tomorrow. I just paid taxes and got tags on my other one last month. Let's all hope 2010 is better for each and everyone here. Ada |
Let's all hope 2010 is better for each and everyone here.
