My cat goes camping.

a neighbor works at Target. Last year I asked if he ever saw one of those display tents being thrown out, to please grab it for my cats. He did! its an instant hit!

That is SO cute! What a lucky kitty! Where's his itty-bitty sleeping bag? ;)

I've been eyeing the sample "memory foam" mattresses at Costco. My kittehs would be fighting over that!

lefthanded 02-01-2010 03:43 PM

Too cute! Did you get the little ThermaRest™ too?

Kitty 02-01-2010 03:49 PM

I want one!! No wait, I want two! And one of them needs to be an extra large display model for Gracie.....:o

That picture is SO cute. :)

Dejibo 02-01-2010 04:24 PM

jack is a HUGE cat! I am impressed that he can fit in it. He dove in head first, and shoved his big **** thru the doorway, and finally got spun around. He camped out for an hour. very nice surprise!

karousel 02-01-2010 04:37 PM

That is just too cute!!

Kitty 02-01-2010 05:28 PM

My cats love anything that's confining and anything they can go under or cover themselves up with. Jack is just too cute! He needs a fishing pole! :D

TwoKidsTwoCats 02-01-2010 05:52 PM

:D:D:D

That is totally cool and adorable!! You know I've eyed those displays and thought those would make perfect cat or small dog quarters!!

legzzalot 02-01-2010 07:54 PM

LMAO!! Quick build a fire. It's time to roast some hot dogs!

Jack doesn't look that big. Our cat is prob 15 lbs. Was 9 lbs when we got him. Doubt he could fit in there. Lol!

hollym 02-01-2010 09:42 PM

I showed my cats and now they want one!

doydie 02-01-2010 10:22 PM

I always thought it would be neat to have one of those for the girls and their barbie dolls. That pic is just to cute!

Dejibo 02-02-2010 10:06 AM

Jack is 17.4 pounds. he is extremely long as well. I used to say if he just grew into his tail, I was in trouble. he has a really loooong tail.

He was quite pleased with himself, till Little baby Lily cat came along and harrassed him out of it. She slept in it most of the night, and I had to get up and yell at Jack for attacking the ottoman. He wasnt happy, but we are all afraid of lily. I am not sure I blame him for not taking her on in the dead of night.

Too funny! they think its the best toy ever. :D

I wonder if the local Target here would sell one of their display models to me? Gracie weighs 22 pounds....and she's short! Her little legs just keep getting shorter! I might have to have a full sized one for her! :p Tigger would love it, though.

Oh, my. In the pic, Jack doesn't look fat, so I assumed he wasn't big. Must just be big-boned. Kheah is both. Big boned, and somewhat overweight.

Jack isnt very fat, he is just a big kitty!

I have asked Target, Walmart, Caldors, Kohls, Dicks, Sams, and tons of other places if they would sell me the displays. ALL of said NO! They have explained that they are promotional items sent by the folks that make the tents, and used for displays. Once the new model arrives, or the display goes into a recall or outdated, they have to return it to the maker for a credit. Most have said that rarely will a maker say "its outdated, keep it, or throw it away." Walmart once said they had to provide proof that the item had been destroyed.

I have been looking for one of these silly tents for about 15 years. My neighbor was scolded when they saw him picking in the bin. He explained to his boss that he just wanted one for a good neighbor, and the boss told him they had to pick thru and do all the UPC codes, and determine which tents were required to be destroyed, and which ones were being sent back. After an hour his boss came out holding Jack's tent and told him he could have that one.

I have tried and asked, and harrassed many stores for the display. Bill couldnt have made me happier if he came bearing diamonds.

Dejibo 02-02-2010 11:09 AM

now THIS is a fat cat! they need to STOP feeding him! OMG!

There are cat tents for sale online. Is there something different about Jack's?

~ Faith

Dejibo 02-02-2010 11:24 AM

um, I have no idea if Jack's is different. its just a display they use to show off their tents, and what they look like set up.

The cat tents, made just for cats is probably more secure, and a more stable product than a display tent.

I didnt know they sold them! I will have to go look.

SallyC 02-02-2010 01:01 PM
