I wonder if I can share that dh came across a box of little rocks that I had squirreled away years ago...My dear great aunt had collected them on her world travels..and she labeled them all with adhesive tape...Sahara, Mt of Olives, Esther Gold Mine, Alaska, Mt. Cook, New Zealand, Prramids...etc.

I wonder how much I'll treasure having these in a little candy dish on the coffee table....

I wonder that I am making blueberry pie this afternoon, but it only has three tablespoons of sugar and one teaspoon of butter in the whole pie, so maybe Alffe will not get mad at me.
I wonder that the thing I notice about the snow these days ( we got a couple of inches) is the amount of deer tracks in it...those buggers are everywhere.
I wonder at the chipmunk tracks on my porch too...
I wonder if the birds will enjoy the stuff I am putting out for them ( corn meal with peanut butter and honey and bacon fat all mixed in). I hate to see the birdies lose weight in the winter, but love to watch them scrabble around on my deck to eat the "special mix" I put out. Must remember to put out some water too...

I wonder if you all know that the day I moved 500 miles away... I became an orphan....... my Mom died... peacefully in her sleep... she wasn't sick... she was 84....

I wonder IF that was WHY I moved back to my home town for the last almost 2 years.... to be near her...

I wonder at how happy I am that I made this decision to move.... away... even though I lost my Mom...

I wonder that I know my Mom is looking down from above... and YES, she is above!!!... and I know she is happy that I am so happy....

I wonder that I made shrimp scampi for the first time in my life and it was so easy ( a friend gave me a recipe that cooks in the oven....in minutes) and it was sooooo good.
I wonder that shrimp scampi used to scare me to death and now the Kid wants to know if we can have it again next weekend. I wonder why I don't trust myself more?
I wonder if everyone will have a great time watching the big game while I ignore it with all my heart... I don't care for sports. LOL.

It has a LOT of butter, Alffe, but then scampi sorta has to. LOL

Shrimp Scampi

1 lb pasta ( I used fettucini)
3/4 cup butter ( 1 1/2 sticks)
1 lb peeled and cleaned shrimp
4 cloves garlic ( minced)
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
3 tablespoons chopped parsley
1/4 cup white wine
salt and pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 400. Put butter in 9X13 glass baking dish and place in oven until butter melts
Add pasta to boiling, salted water
after butter melts add wine.
stir in shrimp, garlic and lemon juice to the melted butter and return dish to oven for three minutes. Remove from oven, stir, add parsley and return to oven for an additional 2 to 3 minutes, or until shrimp is opaque. Season with salt and pepper.
Spoon the shrimp and butter sauce over pasta and and toss to coat

I didn't care for the fettucini. It seemed too "dense" for the shrimp. Will try linguini next time...or even rice.

I really have to wonder....Robins?????? It is snowing like crazy right now..the kind of snow that reminds me of my childhood, Dad "banking" the coal furnace at night and "feeding it" early in the morning so we'd be warm when we got up for school.

And out my kitchen window I see two robins, in the heated bird bath..bathing! Now I know some will tell us that they really do stay here year around inspite of the fact that Barbo & I try hard every spring to spot the first one....

They did look cold....clean but cold! :D

I have BLUE BIRDS at my feeders!! Blue birds in Feb.? Blue birds at a feeder on my tiny, very high deck, 6 feet from the sliding doors? Blue birds eating suet?
And, of all things, I have one BIG bird I can't identify. He's here, eating or guarding suet almost all day, every day. I've searched every bird book I own, over and over and I can't find him. He makes such odd sounds :p

Is he a BIG black bird??? We have Starlings...they are absolutely nasty birds who "guard" our feeders.... sigh...

:o I forgot to wonder -- oops. I find birds so-o-o-o-o exciting. I have a small life.
I wonder if I can say for certain that "my" bird isn't a starling -- he's bigger and has a nice, clean feather pattern -- grey in several shades, dark and light, and white.
The bird he resembles most is a mockingbird .... and the more pictures of mockingbirds I see, the more I think this is one.
I wonder if you all understand how excited I am to see a bird that's totally new to me.
