i broke my back!
slipped on the ice from the BOTTOM step this morning and fractured my T12! hurts worse than childbirth! Stupid snow!
|
 Good grief! Be careful......ummmm, guess that bit of advice is too late.
I hope you've gotten some pain medication. Please stay inside! |
Oh Legzzalot
|
there are only two steps on the back porch... and i managed to slip off the second one.... sheesh! Things to look out for: numbness (check), Tingling (check), Bladder or bowel problems (check), pain (check).... oh yeah, you have MS.... wellllllll, go follow up with ortho surgeon tomorrow.
This sucks. Fortunately, DH2B is off today because of the snow and my mom was able to get here quick. Still waiting to hear if kids have school tomorrow. Worse case scenario, mom will stay here tonight and get DD on bus so i can get to ortho. Best case, school is closed and mom can take DD home with her for the weekend. Valentine's day will have to be postponed this year. |
oh no! Hugs and prayers to you! Did they give you a brace? or anything? I cant believe they let you go home!
Feel better! |
no brace no nothing... percocet and flexerol, and more voltaren.... that's it! Doctors suck! Meet with ortho in the morning to see if I need surgery. ER doc doesn't think it is that bad. So we are hoping.
|
Awwwww, (((((legzz))))) :(
|
Sheesh, Leggz, I can't leave you alone for a second. :( I hope the ER doc was right and it heals fast..
I'm always extra careful on slippery surfaces..learn from me..:D |
 Ouch that has got to be hurting. sending very gentle
|
Ouch! :(
I broke T4, T5, T6 and T7 a few years back, so I certainly understand what you're going through. Not sure if it'll help you Legz, but I found ice packs were much more effective than any of the pain killers they gave me. The ice seems to numb the area. Feel better soon, and no more falling down, OK? |
I'm so sorry Leggz! I hope they'll fix it soon and you'll be kept painfree!
|
Legz - OUCH!!! I hope you start feeling better soon and that all goes well today with the ortho.
|
Oh, man! That doth sucketh in so many ways.
During my "Peggy Fleming years", I trashed my tailbone and can truly empathize with you. :( |
another idiot doctor....
Ortho takes more x-rays and says the broken vert is wedged, so he needs an mri to see how badly it is on my spinal cord. If it is too deep they will need to operate and blow it up with a balloon and fill it with cement. In the meantime, I am to go get fitted for a back brace. They schedule the MRI...for Feb 24! And the follow up with him about the MRI cannot be done until March 2! WTH?? I have a broken bone in my spine that is pressing on my spinal cord, and I am to wait.... Gets even better. I call to schedule the fitting for the brace.... Medicaid will not cover it because I am over 21, and my secondary insurance will not cover it unless I pay the $1500 deductible. Unfortunately, I do not have the $500+ this is going to cost to get the brace. Now I am waiting to hear back from the nurse at the ortho to see what she wants to do, and waiting to hear back from neuro since she wanted to do another set of MRI this month anyway.... and she can get me in before the 24th. As of now, I am up a creek without a paddle til march. |
owwwie Legz!! I bounced down the stairs with a 2 year old in my arms about 12 years ago... fractured my tailbone and aggravated a couple of discs. Koala's right...ice does help if you can stand it. My tailbone could, but the mid spine area couldn't!
 |
Ouchie! I broke my tailbone giving birth to a 10 1/2 pounder. Its not
fun. I hope they get all that insurance carp out of the way so you can rest and get better! Whats wrong with people? It seems like this is something that cannot wait!:hug::hug: |
Can you call the patient advocate at the hospital where you were seen? They can normally speed things along, and open doors that usually remain hidden. Like free programs for needed supplies.
Hang in there. |
oh leggz, i'm feeling for you.
i hope you will not need surgery. please get better soon. i'm glad you have family around to help. keep us posted. |
