Snow Emergency in My Little Town.

OK, this do sucketh. We are getting nailed. They just declared a snow emergency, right cher, in my front yard.

6 to 8 inches (more)!!!

Anyone else?

Blessings2You 02-15-2010 02:55 PM

How much did you have to begin with??? We call 8" "flurries".

SallyC 02-15-2010 03:05 PM

LOL, Blessings...we have probably a couple of feet on the ground and blowing. Roofs will be collapsing.

Blizzard like whiteout and we're running out of salt.

Jappy 02-15-2010 03:29 PM

This morning woke up to 5" of snow. Sage had trouble going down the
steps on the porch, everything was one solid looking step.

It is snowing again right now real hard, predicting another 4-5 inches.

My DD in NJ has a total of 24". She was telling me how that many people
have collasped roofs, blown away carports, and some that have collasped.

They are predicting snow here up till Wed. Had to cancel dr. appts.

Sally that is a little scary when they declare an emergency like that.

If you had to, will you be able to find other shelter, like at you DD's
house. First of all, will they be able to get to you?

You take care, and keep us informed of how you are doing.

Jappy :hug

we got nuffin. I can see my whole yard full of grass. snow is non existant round here this year. Truly odd.

Kitty 02-15-2010 04:56 PM

Sally, you be safe. Can your DD come over and stay if you need her to? Do you have enough food, dog food and (most importantly) toilet paper?

We were supposed to get snow today. They had a "Winter Storm Warning" and everything and we got zilch. Nothing.

Sometimes I think it's God's way of letting us all know who's really in charge of what's going to happen!

barb02 02-15-2010 06:24 PM

We only got about four inches of the white stuff. My mom in Eastern Ohio has been keeping me updated on the snow today. She has been stuck in her apartment almost every day since Christmas. She said that there is snow in the forecast for the next seven days. My sister did take her out to lunch yesterday at the casino and to the grocery store. She was really excited because she won $600.00.

RedPenguins 02-15-2010 07:15 PM

So sorry to hear about this Sally. Must be a little frightening, too.

Well, you're all welcome to come to sunny California. It's not supposed to rain until Saturday. And for now...well, my 3.5 year old just asked if we could go to the beach. (It's nearly 80 degrees here today and I feel a little guilty to be honest!)

Hang in there everyone...seems like it's gonna be one heck of a winter.

See what happens when you brag..:D

Our City is closed, for all intents and purposes, until further notice.

Blessings2You 02-16-2010 12:01 PM

Kind of ironic, that I live where people are standing there with their snowmobile helmets on, waiting for it to snow, and the trails keep growing more bare spots. And some of you poor folks would gladly drive the truck to lug yours over to us.

Dejibo 02-16-2010 12:29 PM

We need snow here! we want several feet of the stuff. Our trails are closed, our slopes are bare, and our tourist trade is falling off greatly. Bring it on! I will take 12 feet of the stuff over bare grass anyday. It makes my taxes lower, and my town hum.

Oh,LOL, I take it you weren't bragging then. :p

soxmom 02-16-2010 12:57 PM

Stay safe Sally!

Dejibo 02-16-2010 03:38 PM

Nope, not bragging. we need snow to keep NH on its feet. We depend on the winter business. Snow mobiles, skiing, ice skating, ice fishing, cross country skiing, and so on. When we see green on the ground, we see alot less green in our bank accounts. No one coming up here to ski, means the stores get less business, the restaurants serve less people, and everyone struggles.

Bring it on! Its been snowing hard all day. The state is breathing a sigh of relief.

braingonebad 02-16-2010 08:32 PM

Snow does NOT make our taxes lower though. It just makes it tough to go get food. And when we get 8", it drifts and blows for days over the open fields. RT 51 will be a mess, down to 1 mucky lane, plows or no plows. We don't have tons of trees to block it - this is corn country.

And then you have Ohio drivers to deal with lol.
