Woweeee, they look great and I'm super jealous!

Uh, there's a smudge in the dining room floor, at about 7 o'clock. Clean that up, will ya'?

That's probably where the pup piddled, since he couldn't get out..:D

Lady 02-15-2010 11:29 PM

Very nice Sally. Nice color choice. My two DIL's picked the same and love it. Is that a gas fireplace or fire logs? Love the marble color. Don't ever fall on that stuff.

Just stay upright and not slip again. Okay? Wear not slip slippers or socks when walking or transferring, whatever.. Stay off the floor. We would miss you. :grouphug:

Kitty 02-15-2010 11:43 PM

Your new floors look so nice, Sally. It took me a while to get used to the hardwoods here. I'd never had them before and I nearly busted my behind several times before I got smart and got some slipper socks. I hope you enjoy them......now what else needs replacing so you can get your hunky contractors back??

gonnamakeit 02-16-2010 12:39 AM

Those are really good looking floors! Hope you are enjoying your fireplace too.

Have you found someone to scoop off your roof so it doesn't collapse? You guys in the Midwest have had some memorable snow this year.

Nice floors! I like the grain, it looks so real.

We do our own work, so I don't get any hunks. I get blisters.

We are blessed to own a 1938 home with beautiful hardwood oak floors and beautiful woodwork around the window and door frames. Also a brick fireplace in the LR with a wood mantel. The trim on the frames and the mantel is unique and beautiful as well.

When we purchased the house, the floors were covered with carpet, and the windows were coverered with heavy floor to ceiling curtains, so none of that was visible, except the closets the in BR's, and the wood in the kitchen and BR, which had been painted over.

We promptly removed the carpets and had the floors refinished, and replaced the curtains with valances and blinds.

We didn't strip the baseboards and the trim and windows and doors in the kitchen and BR, but I decided I'm OK with that. The kitchen is now nicely painted (for the 2nd time since we moved here 20 yrs ago); we've repainted the BR once, but it needs to be re-done.

I was also blessed with a mother and MIL who are creative and have given us many beautiful handmade things to hang on the walls.

I have hardwood under my laminate now. The hardwood wasn't in that bad of shape, but I hated the maple. The cost and time to strip and refinish was just not worth it.

The Laminate was put on while I sat on my sofa and watched. :) I would have had to move me and the dog out for Lord knows how long and verrrrry expensive.

People say, why didn't you just refinish the hardwood....but, I think I made the right decision for me. If someone else wants to do all that retro stuff, after I'm gone, have at it.:D

Ahhh...my EYES! I could have done without picture # 2! There's a crack on that floor!

Seriously, lovely floors, Sal! Glad to hear that you are happy with them. Now put on those NON slippys and enjoy! :)

SandyC 02-17-2010 09:38 PM

I kind of like Marchunk. It's the cougar in me, can't help it.

That crack has a hair in it by the way.

Oh and the picnic pic? I see something other than butts in it. Not saying which one. I am going to make you all go back and look reeeeaaaalllll hard. LOL
