And the MRI says....

I broke 2 vertebrae! T11 and t12 are fractured. T12 has a 20% loss in height, T11 has a 5% loss...

There is a few new things going on with the bone marrow there that i am not sure of. They didn't say anything about the disks, but looking at the MRI I can see that 3 of them are very swollen.

And onto the MS news.... 5 new lesions in my T spine, most of the old ones are bigger and 2 of the new ones are active with contrast... the one at the T11 is "less conspicuous" but this could be due to the fractures.

All in all, I am more concerned with the lesions than the broken bones. I redo the c-spine and brain next week, but so far the TY seems to have done as all the other treatments and made the MS go into overdrive.... so...

I am going to go be depressed now.

(((Legz))) I'm sorry to hear this. What is their plan for the broken vertebrae? Are the lesions from MS or the injury?

I will keep you in my prayers. Hang in there!

Dejibo 02-25-2010 11:24 AM

awww hugs to you! Are they gonna fix it?

legzzalot 02-25-2010 11:27 AM

I have no idea. Follow up with ortho on monday. I assume a 20% loss in height on the one bone most likely means surgery to build it back up. Which stinks, but, it is what it is, and I can't stress over it right now.

Still waiting on medicaid to get off their butts and approve the brace he prescribed on 2/12 to keep the bones and disks from moving.... and I wait...

Lesions, I have no idea. The last MRI in that area was in August, the C-Spine and Brain were done back in November, a week before starting the TY so I can't really write that one off yet.

Needless to say I am more worried about the lesions than I am the broken bones, as bones heal. But, worrying about them doesn't do me any good either because there is not I thing I can do to make it better.

Sorry you got such bad news. Not just one thing but two.:hug:

Sorry to hear of this, Legzz...hope you get quick treatment...

I can't believe how many MRIs you all get...I haven't had one ordered since I started seeing my neuro last April...haven't had one since 11/08, when I was diagnosed.

legzzalot 02-25-2010 03:58 PM

Yup I have the MRI happy neuro. Which is a good thing because I can see what is going on. PLus I have a strange "suspected PPMS". When I was dx in Oct 2008, I had 4 lesions on my spine and 7 on my brain. I now have over 37, and at last count the largest ones were all over 50mm. We keep trying new drugs, so whenever I complain of new sx she orders a new set of mris. unfortunately, each new set shows new lesions.

It blows my mind too when I hear about people getting MRI's every 6 months or every year. I havent had an MRI since I had two in December of 2006 (diagnosed a few weeks after that)

Some neuros do seem to be MRI happy. If they're so MRI happy, they should pay for all those MRI's themselves if they want one so often.

Hopefully those symptoms will slow down a bit for you Legzz, since it sounds like it's expensive for you to get a new symptom.

Now that just stinks, Legzz! :( You probably wish you'd stayed in bed that day! I do hope your doctors have a plan to correct the back problems....soon. Hang in there and remember we're here for you. Vent away!! :)

Hey Legz,
Right now I feel I never want an MRI again, for me and my spazzs, they're just long and uncomfortable, Tech yells at me to hold still during my spazzs, like I can!! I'm PPMS, once I thought the scarce number of Lesions was good, now I see that is common of PPMS. I've had 5 neuros, they look at my MRIs but those never seem to match up with my disability. I can't walk or use one arm and I bet my MRIs look better than yours!! They're just a tool, tell the truth as accurately as an 8-ball from Toys R Us (weren't they cool!!!!!! I'm getting one for me for Christmas, kids will love it)
