cough / sinus OTC meds?

HI,
My sis told me that she takes Mucinex for sinuses and thought it could help me. I am congested and so on.
I'm depressed too.

I'm sending hubby out to the store.
I guess I will try it and see what happens.

Success with this comes with taking adequate water during the day too.

I find it very useful myself.

that is what i take now. my friend who is a singer and who has tons of friends who are professional muscians take it
bobby and feel better. oh she says don't get it with letters. just the plain kind

That might help me. I've been coughing since it started snowing in December. I'm not sure if that is what's causing it. It might be from the waters of the Tropics,of the west coast of South America, where el nino has been active this year. I don't know.

When my emotions are hurting,my allergies get stirred up. I don't know why.

I hope that you feel better Mari. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Oh you are so right dear Steve ! same here !! :o

I think is due to our immune system... when we are under stress, sadness, both or whatever (lol, you get my point), our immune system "freaks" and lows... and, we get sick easier... it can become crazy too and, over-react, that is what happens with allergies...

I always complain about my poor immune system... it is too weird !! it never responds correctly... lol
If it doesnt auto-destroy, it over-react or, it simply does nothing !!! but it never works they way it should.... :o

There are some generics out there now.

WalMart has one called Mucus Relief, which comes in plain and also DM . It is 400mg instead of 600mg of guaifenesin, but works just fine for me and is much less expensive.

I think Mucinex is a bit pricey for regular use.
Walgreens also has one, and it too is 400mg.

I tend to use the DM one for myself and only at night. It helps with the sinus drainage tickling type cough, and the DM helps my PN pain too! But people here taking SSRI drugs should avoid the DM version because these two interact.

Mucinex was one of the drugs I was told to use to help when I got
so sick.

Mucinex DM

Hi,
I found this thread and found Mucinex from last year in a drawer. I took two pills as directed on the package and plan to go back to sleep.

Stay well everyone.

Doctors prescribe it a lot. I liked that better when it wasn't OTC, but by script because my copays were less.... 30 day supply for $10.

I find the generics work fine... but it's hard to find one long-acting in generic. I usually end up buying the mucinex because I figure I end up spending less by taking the long-acting.

I hope it continues to help you Mari!

yesterday I started feeling so much better! I woke up this morning early for me 6 am and have had breakfast and coffee and have done some exercises and getting ready for my OT therapy session. The weekend was gone with grieving and sickness, feel llike I need to make up for lost time.
If I get done today I might actually go get some flowers for the yard to plant.....
I did not cough last night and can breath this morning so life is much better!
mari I hope you are feeling better.
