accu vein, have you ever seen it?

I have HORRIBLE veins. more often than not, they end up in my neck or groin for access. I have used a foot several times. Since high dose chemo, and antibiotic and steroid therapy, my veins are shot! They always poke me to peices.

yesterday before my MRI the nurse said "Oh! let me get the new Accu Vein." and she dragged over this unit!

Watch the video. this thing flipped me out! I must have one!

That's very cool, Dej! So glad they didn't make a pincushion of you.

Wow maybe the next time I have a M.R.I. they won't have to stick me 8 times"don't move or we have to start again...":)Thanks D!:)

That's amazing! I'm so glad they have this for all the "hard sticks" out there. I've always had "good" veins...never had a problem finding one or accessing it.

That's really cool, Dej...glad that it made the experience easier for you...

yup! My nuesr has a pocket type of this thing. She uses it to light up my veins. Then she can actually see that she is in the vein even when she gets no drawback.

FinLady 03-05-2010 04:28 PM

I want one! So far I've only had one person who could find a vein and keep it from running away from them. I would never again have to hear "but it was just there!" :D

what a great invention. i wonder how much it costs.

The VP from the company wrote me back. its about $4,500 for the hospital version. He said they are working on a more portable one for ambulances and blood draw stations. its pretty new, and not many places have it yet.

I told them I would be happy to give my testimonial in exchange for one I could take with me! He asked what is the closest hosptial to me, and would I be interested in being an example to help the sales team in my area? you betcha! I will let you know what, if anything happens.

Can you imagine the TY IV station? blink! there it is! Or the blood draw station at your local MD? OMG this little thing just has to be spread. I am very tired of being stuck 10 times!

WOW!! Too bad this company is privately owned. I would buy stock if it were available.

This one is way more high tech than the one my nurse at the IV place uses. However, hers emits the same orange glow and it almost looks like a little set of tongs. I like hers because it fits in your pocket. They just ordered a bunch of them for the local fire/rescue departments.

I am gonna be in cahoots with this man. unless you have had horrible access, you just cant imagine the nightmare of being stuck over, and over, and over and now each nurse only takes 3 tries, and turns you over to someone else. I have been known to go thru 5 nurses, then a supervisor. Its painful! Cut downs on your legs, and central line sticks are not fun.

The obese, and cancer patients are notorious for bad access. With this little thing...the veins are right there!

The VP of the Accuvein of the NorthEast Region asked if I would be willing to share my story. Without hesitation yes! double yes!

AccuVein - I am so in love with this. My veins are starting to get shot too. A good nurse in right light can usually get me in 2-3 tries, but I well recall Oct when 2 nurses tried (my guess) approx 8 or 9 times before the Dr came in and took it from my artery. Talk about pain. I'm going to take some info to my iv center. They don't use anything yet. Thanks so for the info!
