The Weather & Symptom Severity

I don't usually have "severe" symptoms. Not enough to make me want to take additional medication. But this week....with my seasonal allergies kicking into gear and the temp changes we've had - plus this system of rain that's supposed to hang around all week......I've had some doozies!

Right now, I have places that are ultra-sensitive to touch. The fronts of my legs, my sides (where my waist is supposed to be ) and my forearms.

It feels like someone has punched me in the right side ribs. I like hugs.....but not this one!

I have spasticity like I've never had before. Especially first thing in the morning. Anybody do the Frankenstein Walk??

I'm all for having warmer weather. It just seems the older I get the worse my allergies become. What on earth will I feel like when I'm 80?!

Anybody else struggle with the temp/season changes. Anybody else have the seasonal allergy wars? To all those who do.....you have my empathy.

(((Kelly))) I am right there with you. I basically have perennial allergies; meaning all year long. My allergy season runs from February to November. Right now the allergens in the air are extreme and we have had warnings. UGH! And I am sure with all the moisture we have had we are in for a rough spring & summer. I have been trying to do my Neti pot twice a day now. In fact, I just got done boiling the water for today's rounds. LOL

The MS symptoms sometimes rear their ugly head when my allergies are bad. So I can totally relate to what you are going through.:hug::hug:

barb02 03-10-2010 11:19 AM

I do the Frankenstein walk everyday, although morning are the best for me. My walking deteriorates throughout the day. I also have the hug in my rib cage on the left side. It has been worse this winter. I am hoping that it will actually improve due to warmer weather. I have not noticed it getting worse with allergies, but cold weather definitely affects my symptoms.

For seasonal allergies, I use a steroid inhaler (veramyst), something similar to the neti pot, and zyrtec.

Kelly, Hope you can get those allergies under control!

SallyC 03-10-2010 11:49 AM

In a word, screaming as loud as I can...YESSSS!!! I don't know if it's allergies, but, I know when the weather turns springy with rain and humidity, I am a Zombie. My sinuses also get clogged and my eyes water.

I've come to the conclussion that there is no perfect season for me, anymore.:( A perfect day would be a 60/65 temp day, with a gentle breeze, sun shining and low humidity.:)

I'm right here wit ya, Kell.

I think we get one of these kinds of days once a year!

Hey! That's almost our weather today. Come on over you guys. The sun is out, upper 50's, humidity is up a bit at 35%, and no wind. BUT, we are in a high alert for tree allergens.:o

FinLady 03-10-2010 01:18 PM

:hug::hug: Sorry to hear you have the frankenstein walk going on. :( I get that when temps drop below 25 degrees. The spastic fun for me is wintertime.

Spring season changes bring on the allergies and the spasm fest for me, so totally understand.

TwoKidsTwoCats 03-10-2010 06:20 PM

OH yeah, I'm there too. Weather wise, if the barometric pressure rises or drops sharply, I get pain, spasms and "zombie brained". As for allergies, do you have Bradford Pears close by. They are a building contractors dream here...cheap and pretty, so they are used freely in all the new neighborhoods. They are beginning to bud here and I am very allergic to them. Also ragweed and wild jasmine are starting their thing for the spring.

SallyC 03-10-2010 07:14 PM

Did anyone else have to turn their A/C today? It's only 65, but the humidity is 70 something. I'm a little cold but, some of my Zombie sx have gotten better. :D

Yes!! I think every yard in this subdivision has at least two of them. They're so pretty when they're blooming but they smell terrible! And they make my allergies go into overdrive.

Yes, I turned mine on this past Monday and Tuesday. It was later in the afternoon and just for a little while but it helped. I can't open the windows (allergies ) and it got too stuffy. Plus, I wanted to make sure it was going to work!! My worst nightmare.....no A/C!! :o

Kitty 03-11-2010 05:01 AM

Oh, my goodness......make this spasticity go away!!! It feels like someone is poking me (hard) in the ribs every five seconds. I've had the "hug" before but never this severely. I may just break down and have to take a Baclofen.

We're in for round two of thunderstorms today and my body is announcing it loud and clear!

SallyC 03-11-2010 12:00 PM

I can hear your body from here, Kell. :D

I told it to quiet down! :o

I took a Baclofen this morning.....first time I've had to take one in months. We're in for two more days of rain. At least my allergies aren't as bad as they were at the beginning of the week. But, honestly, I'll take a runny nose over this hug anyday!

The humidity has always bothered me, though. I shouldn't be surprised by this.

SallyC 03-11-2010 12:42 PM

Let's all move to Northern Arizona, where it's warm and dry, most of the time. We'll take a hunky Doc, A Barby Doc for the boys and a few assorted nurses, a cook and a housekeeper, with us. Bring your Spouses, but only if they support you.

Does that sound like heaven or what.

tkrik 03-11-2010 12:48 PM

Sounds like a good plan. I am sure Janie will take us all in. There's lots of vacant land up there. We could start a MS commune. :D

I'll try to think of something. I had an idea but some may take offense to it, despite it's reality.

Hey! I didn't even think of that. It's perfect. Only, orange isn't my color.:o But we could do white with orange writing - "SC:yikes:TERS" on it. LOL

Scooters is great...reminds me of Hooters...you could have rollator wheels for the Os...
