I hate losing things!
I have Netflix, which is awesome btw! and I got a movie a couple of weeks ago. I remember taking it into my bedroom, because i was going to lay down, and watch a movie. I fell asleep, and never saw it. I havent seen the movie since then either! I have looked in every corner, shelf, cabinet, pile of paperwork, magazines pile...you get the idea.
I wrote NetFlix and claimed it as "I damaged or lost it and wish to pay for it" $14! OMG! it wasnt even a new release! So...again MS strikes, and I cant for the life of me remember what I did with this silly movie. Dont you hate losing things? Netflix has a policy that if I find it in the next year, and mail it back to them, they will refund my price that I paid. Who wants to take bets I find it now that I paid for it? Sheesh! I quit. That was the only trick left to try, was to just give up and admit defeat. |
Have you looked in your bed?
I find stuff wadded up in the sheets, between the wall and the mattress, shoved to the end of the bed under the covers, etc. I found a book, the cordless phone, my keys, even a kitchen plate (:o) within the covers on my bed! |
I have stripped my bed down to the mattress. shook out the mattress cover, and FLIPPED the mattress! I had the DH flip it over, and we looked UNDER it, and under the bed. I have completely changed all the linens, and while I was at it, washed the blankies. I have looked in my drawers, in the stack of clothes, in case it got stacked ontop of clean laundry.
*sigh*...its exhausting to keep hunting for this silly disc! :( |
Was it in a case? Maybe it's in the DVD player.
|
Good guesses, but nope, its not in the player. ANY of the players in the house. It comes in one of those paper sleeves. Its bright red/white so its hard to miss. I have opened every player. I cant find the envelope or the DVD/Blu-ray disc. I know they are both together, as that is my habit, to keep them together. I get two at a time, and normally stack them in front of the Blu-ray player. I see the other movie, but not this silly thing.
I have looked under the shelves, and under the players too. under the couch, under the chairs, under the mail and...you get the idea. I hate this disease! I cant remember anything anymore! |
Check your pet's bedding....or the areas they sleep in. I kept missing barrets for my hair and one day I found three of them in Gracie's blanket! Who knows why she confiscated them.....maybe she was trying to tell me she didn't like them!
I hate losing stuff. I've gotten to where I look in the most unlikely places first.....and unfortunately (or fortunately) I've found a few things! :o  Along while ago I found the flashlight in the freezer!! |
The DH and I are slowly coming to think that it "may" have been tossed out with the recycle papers. We recycle magazines, newspapers, and such, and it would have been just too easy for it to have ended up in that pile.
I have a routine. I keep the disc by the player, when ready, I play it. When done, it goes into the OUT going mail hook. Since I removed it, and took it to the bedroom, there is just no telling how far it wandered since I went out of my MS routine. I find with MS cog fog, I have to have a solid routine for things, or they frequently get lost, misplaced, or simply gone, gone, gone! The thing that gets me is, I remember taking it into the bedroom. Laying in front of the PS3 player, and then....nothing! its just a blank. I took a nap, got up, went about my day, and never saw it again. I have torn that cabinet apart. The surrounding area is torn apart. All things in the br have been shaken out. its just gone! My memory isnt letting me have any memory of it, past laying it down. then...its a blank. That is what is so frustrating. Since its MY bedroom, and no one else goes in there...it must be MY loss, or MY action that moved it, lost it, or misplaced it. The cleaning girls would have cleaned it, and put it back. Right where they got it from. They do that with all things. So...again, I have a hole in my head. |
did you check the bathroom? I cannot tell you the things I have found in random places in my bathroom. Here is how it starts, I take a book and cup of coffee in the bedroom to lay down and read... then I have to go potty, so I put the coffee on the table next to the bed and the book ends up in the bathroom with me, on the counter. Then before I make it back to my bed, I see the pile of laundry that needs to be washed. I grab the basket and the coffee and head to the laundry room where I leave my coffee on top of my dryer. I then spend the next 30 minutes looking for my book.
At this point I have to go potty again and I find my book. Then I remember I lost my coffee somewhere outside of the bedroom. I go into the living room where I am bombarded with "Mommy, can I...." questions. And then Someone complains of being hungary so I make lunch for everyone. And I turn off the coffee pot. DH2B comes home and sees the lid closed on the washer and decides to dry the clothes he knows I have forgotten about. He grabs my coffee cup off the dryer and brings it to me. The nap never gets taken, the book never read, and the coffee cup is filled with cold yucky coffee. A year and a half ago I ran a company. I was in charge of hiring, firing, all paperwork, transportation scheduling, sales, customer service, I was the only contact with the corporate office, and all accounting for our location. Hard to believe some days! |
So sorry your swiss cheese brain is at it again, Dej:hug::hug:
|
have checked the bathroom, AND the linen closet! I have checked the magazine rack in the bathroom. I have checked the stack of towels in the linen closet, in case it got left ontop of the stack or something.
I have checked the cat corner. The box where all the cat toys get swept up into, and unfolded several cat blankets, and shook them to be sure. The cats think this is great fun. What really ticks me off is I draw a complete blank about what I did with it, and it had to be me that did it. No one else is to blame. Stupid disease! :( |
well once you pay for it, then soon enough in weeks to come it will mysteriously show up.. you wait and see!! That is what happens to me...
sorry I know how the memory issues and the losing thing feeling goes... and hugssssss love ya, sarah |
I'll bet its in the laundry room. The buzzer went off and you walked in there to put stuff in the dryer. Its on top of the dryer!!! ;)
|
OR, maybe IN the dryer..:rolleyes::D
|
Do you have a headboard? Is it behind the head of the bed?
I have a pedestal bed, and I've lost things under the headboard. My headboard has a cabinet thingie. It's got a space under the headboard that I cant reach very easily. So, of course I lose things under there all the time. It's eaten more than one of my crochet hooks. I'm sure I've probably got a couple of CD's hiding under there too. |
Did you check the other Netflix sleeve to make sure you didn't put it with the other DVD? I ask because I did that with some medical records on CD. :o
Yes I loose stuff all the time, or move it from the usual location and then have to track through the house looking for stuff. |
OMG, you guys made me go look in the dryer! (not there)
not in the sleeve with the other one. not in any player. I have gone from corner to corner in my room, and cant find it. I am going to empty out my armoir to double check the clothes that got stacked in there. That is literally the only space untouched in my room. I am tired, but my room is clean! Not on top of the fridge, the dryer, the cabinet in the kitchen, the TVs, the players, not in the outgoing mail slot, or behind or under it. not in around, or under the cushion of the chair in my room. Not in the potty. I even looked in the medicine cabinet! I think my best bet was to report it as damaged or missing, and pay the fine. My richie rich neighbor said "just tell them you mailed it, and dont know where its at. They wont charge you for it." OMG! money doesnt buy manners, does it? I LOST it! I am not going to lie about it. Its my job to pay for my mistakes, even if that means a $14 DVD. Lets take bets. When will I find it? Where will I find it? Will it be in time to get my money back? |
Did you check the laundry basket? And the fridge?
|
They just might reward you with something if you find it and are truthful about it. That happened to me once.
I got my car note statement in the mail and the monthly total due was less by about $257 dollars. I hadn't made an extra payment. There had to be a mistake in posting someone elses payment. I called the finance company and told the customer service rep who took my call that there was an odd credit to my account and I hadn't made any extra payments. She tried to convince me that I had overpaid my account.....but I knew that wasn't the case. If I had an extra $257 I would certainly have remembered it....and probably not put it towards my car!! It was someone elses payment.....and they would be missing it soon. The girl finally said she would alert her supervisor and they would try to find who it belonged to. About two weeks later I got a revised statement in the mail with the credit removed. In the same batch of mail I got a handwritten note from someone whose signature had "supervisor" in their title thanking me for alerting them to the mistake. And my account had a $25 credit towards it. Not a whole lot....but they really weren't obligated to do anything at all. The good feeling of knowing I did the right thing certainly lasted a lot longer than the feeling of knowing I had basically stolen someone elses car payment. People with lots of extra money sometimes have that "entitled" air about them. Believe me....karma will catch up with them soon enough and the outcome ain't pretty. Do the right thing.....and you'll get the $14 back tenfold. |
Well, since everyone has tried to help you find the missing DVD, I'll just add that YES, it is totally AGGRAVATING when I misplace things. I spend more time looking for things than I care to admit. It's especially maddening when I conitinually check the same places over and over. grrrrr...
Someday I'm going to find the mother load of everything I've lost over the years.. Or maybe not~ |
Well, the housekeeper girls were here, no luck
I have combed thru most things...no luck I am EXHAUSTED from looking for this silly DVD! I quit! I have already paid the fine, I quit! Im done. I dont mind losing my things, but when I lose things that belong to another, or cost me to lose, it aggrevates me! |
You know what this means, don't you? Now you'll find the thing!!!
Let us know where it was, k? :p |
Still no sign of it. I havent felt well enough to pull apart the last few things, and am reaching the conclusion that the universe just stole it. I didnt even get to see it first!

not gonna believe it but I found that dang movie! I have been searching thru the basement in search of blankets and old clothes to give away. I was pulling thru a box of photos that the DH put away. I see a red corner stick up, I pull on it, and ta da! there is that movie!
I asked the DH why this movie was in his box, and he said "oh! thats the movie you wanted. I knew that was there, but couldnt figure out why." grrrrr.... I told him I had to pay for that movie! He laughed and offered to repay me. I have put it in the mail, lets see if NEtflix repays me for it, and NO im not even gonna watch it at this point. I just want it out of here.I have a year from the date it was reported missing to send it back. March was when it went missing, so I think I beat the deadline. Wahoo! I win! |
Wow! Just finished reading the entire movie adventure. Maybe hubby doesn't have to pay you back for the cost of the movie, but for allowing you to think it was all your fault & driving you batty trying to find it all these months...Hmmm...I'm seeing a lot of possibilities here. :D

I wonder how many movies they get back from folks who thought they'd lost one and then find it later? Probably not many.
|
Cool, glad you found it!
Now want to come help me find the little wing thingie that fits inside my breadmaker..it spins around and mixes the dough! Went to use the machine for the first time in 2 years and the little part is missing. Turned my kitchen upside down and can't find it. :o I may be getting a new bread machine because the kids decided they liked homemade bread that grandma made! |

Look on ebay. They have all sorts of replacement parts. I lost mine...or thought I did.....but found it and now it's the first thing I do when I wash the bread maker. I put that little wing thingie back right away 'cos there's no telling where it might end up if I don't! :o |
