another carptastic St Patty's day!
Last year, I was recovering from another bad round of IVSM and my balance issues were so bad that I ended up calling my best friend to come help me out with DD.
This year, we were so excited. I even bought food coloring to make some green eggs (don't ask) and we had DD's stuff all packed last night for school today. But alas, at 3:30 this morning I was awakened by a very sad 5 yr old who is complaining that her ear hurts. Been up for the last 4 hours, waiting on doc's office to open. See DD has had 3 sets of tubes in her ears, no ear infections in almost 2 years. But she just got over strep and I have a feeling it is hitting her ear again. Poor thing. Here we go again.... wish me luck. |
WELL, another trip to another doctor and.... DD has an ear infection. after 3 sets of tubes I thought we were done with these. And of course it is on the side that still has the tube (the other one came out months ago). But it is so inflamed that the doc cannot see if the tube is properly positioned in the ear drum.
It does appear to be draining still which hopefully means it is not clogged but if the infection doesn't clear up in the next couple of days with antibiotics they will have to go in and remove it... and then we have another delimma.... Have set number 4 put in while she is already in the hospital and drugged or wait for it to heal from removal and see if she goes back to having chronic infections and then potentially have to have set 4 done. It just stinks all around! We have both been up since 3:30 this morning it is now 11:30 at night. she falls asleep and within half an hour wakes up screaming and crying from the pain and i cannot do anything for her, other than hold her. |
Poor little sweetheart..:(
I will say an extra prayer for her tonight. I hope you get some sleep tonight, Mommy.. |
this child has been awake for 22. 5 hours straight! Looks like we will be rearranging appointments again tomorrow, no way I am making her go to school. one of these days I am going to be able to make a dr appt and actually go to it. between ins carp and everybody getting sick, I have not made any of my scheduled appointments when they were scheduled in over 2 months.
|
Your poor DD -- and you too! I hope she is feeling better soon.
|
hugs to both of you. ear aches are MISERABLE! I hope she feels better quick.

After calling her pediatrician and every ENT within a 50 mile radius....
I finally found one that can see her before monday.... in southside richmond...over 70 miles away! Frustrating as all. The tube is clogged and her ear drum is on the verge of rupturing. If it ruptures or they take the tube out she will still be left with a hole. For some reason the ENTs up here don't seem to think this is a big deal for a 5 yr old! I have had almost 3 hours of sleep and I am schedulede for my first phys therapy appt in an hour. Wonder if they will let me take a nap? |
Can't you take her to the ER? A ruptured eardrum should certainly be considered an emergency.
I hope she feels better soon. I only had one ear infection as a child but I remember it vividly. It hurt like the dickens and all I could do was cry. And I remember my Mom crying, too. She was so upset because there wasn't anything she could do to ease the pain. Hope today goes well and she gets some relief. |
if it ruptures, we can go the er, but with the tube in i was told they would refer me to an ENT. Good news is she is napping now. which is where I am headed.

How are you and DD doing, Legzz?:hug:

We are ok, it's been a day. Made it to ENT appt with 40 minutes to kill, so we stopped for lunch. Then we get there, and I am told the lady who booked the appt put it in the computer at 10:40 instead of the 11:40 she told me. Which means I can reschedule or we can hang out until 1:00 when the doc gets back from lunch.
The good news is, all of the meds kicked in for her last night and she slept and woke up feeling great. The bad news is, this means they can find nothing wrong with her! Did hearing and pressure tests, the tube is working again, so he doesn't want to pull it out. As far as the constant sinus infections and yearly strep goes, he suggests we remove her adnoids.... Oh, wait... according to the chart from the old doc they already removed her adnoids. Which was a surgery that never happened. The man then stood there and argued with me about it, like I am a moron who would not remember my kid having this surgery. But does he bother to look down her throat and see if they are still there? Of course not! So now I get to call old doc and see what he says and call my insurance company to check if they paid for this surgery. And of course I forgot to get her a doctor's note for school, so I called back and left a message (Because they are 70 miles away) to get them to fax a note and of course they didn't bother to call me back. What a day! Then I had to come home and deal with a big boo boo my wholesaler made which resulted in my cutting them off for good, and pretty much selling my website to another company where I am now an acting affilliate. They do all of the work, I simply send people to them and collect a TINY percentage. But when you factor in the amount of time and energy I was spending doing it all myself, this may be a blessing in disguise. |
