Easter Plans?

What's everyone doing for the Easter weekend?

We usually never do much of anything. Years ago we used to go to the Sunrise Service at Stone Mountain but I haven't been to that in 9 years. Seems like it always rains that morning.

This year we'll have dinner here at my house. Both DS22 and DS26 agreed on what they'd like to have and it sounds easy enough....plus, I rarely get a chance to cook for them anymore, so I'm looking forward to it.

No Easter candy in my house this year! I've done good to avoid buying any 'cos I'd be the one who ate it. Nobody else to blame it on!! :o

What's everyone else doing?

Visiting hubby's family. Can't wait to see my MIL without glasses! She wore them since she was little until the cateract sugery improved her vision. All she needs now are readers. :)

Im doing IVSM. Im staying home, cuddling my kitties, and watching things on tv that will rot my brain. :o

barb02 04-02-2010 10:24 AM

I am going to a friend's house for dinner. My contribution is going to be a raw veg platter and dip. I wonder if this is a comment on my cooking;). I will probably go to Mass tomorrow night.

legzzalot 04-02-2010 10:39 AM

I am cooking. Trying to figure out how we are going to split the holiday with dd and my ex, and celebrating that DH2B signed out of the army today and his parents and his DD will be here.

Watching basketball Saturday. Do some pressure washing. Gotta go into work Sunday night. Got a pre-launch meeting at 0130 Monday morning with a launch at 0521.

Tom

legzzalot 04-02-2010 12:11 PM

Hey Tom, how do they determine the launch time? Why 521? why not 525 or 530?

Blessings2You 04-02-2010 12:15 PM

We never did focus much on a big Easter dinner, and now even less so. I'll cook something Saturday that I can nuke after church!

When my son and daughter were kids, they each had a list of clues in the form of Bible verses. They had to look up the verse, figure out the clue, and then find the next clue, and eventually their Easter baskets.

For example, Paul's first clue might be John 6:48. He'd look it up, and the verse would be "Then Jesus declared, 'I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.'" He'd look in the bread box, and there would be the next clue.

The next clue might be John 4:10, which he'd look up and find: "Jesus answered her, 'If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.'" The next clue might be taped to the shower head or under the sink. And so on.

They had about six clues each, and we all had fun. And chocolate.

Easter Sunday was always a big deal with my Family, but they are all gone and I haven't the strength to carry it on.

DD will, most likely help kids to color eggs and her DH will probably cook a ham or something. Since I don't go anywhere, DD will most likely bring me something, when she visits.

Dear Grands will each get to pick out an easter gift from the store and Grandma will pay for it.:)

And He will rise!

Happy Easter My Friends.

Easter was always a big thing when I was still at home. After getting
married I kept the tradition on at my house. Did it for many years. As time
went on many family and friends passed on.

Now it is only my children and their spouses and me. The only problem is
that my DD is still in NJ. This year the first year in my new house I was hopeing to have the family and a few friends together, but things are not going to be that way.

My DS and DDIL are coming over and my son is going to Smoke Salmon in
the new smoker. I was hoping to make a few of our traditional dishes this year but with not still feeling that great after the flareup I had they will have
to wait until next time.

WISHING EVERYONE A HAPPY EASTER!!!!

I guess we are giving our ages away. Times were so different.

The one thing in life I was not blessed with is, Grandchildren. But, I
was blessed with 2 wonderful children.

I bought a fresh butterball on my way home, just a 12.5 lb one. I also got ingredients for my guacamole salsa. It will just be the four of us unless DS26 wants to bring his girlfriend for dinner. :) I work 11:30 - 8:30 pm tomorrow so somebody else will be doing most of the cooking on Sunday.

We'll go to Sunday morning mass, probably 11am so I can sleep late since I work on Monday.

karousel 04-02-2010 08:24 PM

We're going to my sister's house for lunch and plan on having a big Easter egg hunt. Three families are bringing eggs filled with candy. I'm contributing 58 of them. Which means my DD will be bringing home tons of chocolate in addition to her Easter basket we'll hide for her! (And next Halloween I'll be throwing most of it away.) I'm bringing yummy cupcakes and jello jigglers which I need to make tomorrow.

Have a wonderful Easter everyone!

legzzalot 04-02-2010 10:59 PM

I am going to be trying not to be hostile. DH2B's mom called to let him know they are staying in Ky for easter and will be coming up monday instead... she called as i was unpacking the groceries and easter baskets and candy that I had just bought for the big dinner and the kids.

But since I already invited my mom and made arrangements to get DD early from her dad... as opposed to letting her spend some extra time there during spring break and skipping Easter as I had planned until DH2B announces his family was coming... And since I have a whole fridge full of food to cook and all....

We never really do much for Easter either. We are planning on having a few close family members round for cooked dinner (chicken, potatoe's etc) and then going out with the boyfriend bowling or to the movies. They never normally open during Easter holidays here but they have this year. I really want to see the new Alice In Wonderland movie so i'm hoping thats on tomorrow!

Happy Easter to you all! :)

Actually, it's a launch window and the target time is right in the middle. Window is 0516 - 0526. We use the earth's rotation to "sling" the shuttle towards the station. We're maximizing fuel efficiency, so to speak. It really is akin to shooting a bottle rocket at a moving target.

We didn't know about the boyfriend, Ali!!! :)

Tell him he better be good to you or we'll have to have a little "chat" with him!

You deserve the best.

Despite my protests, I will be hosting the family thing here, which equates to watching other people cook and clean up a feast of free food for me!

I think Cindy is the only one of us with any sense!! :p

marion06095 04-03-2010 11:45 AM

We usually do the hosting for Easter, but this year our double oven has died (I swear I had nothing to do with it!), so we decided that we would take our usual eight relatives/friends out for Easter Brunch to Golden Buffet. Times are hard, and that’s the best buffet for the buck. Anywayz, it’s the company that counts, right?

And it's even better. No cooking, not hot oven to deal with and best of all... NO DISHES to clean afterwards. I think Marion may be on to something!

SallyC 04-03-2010 02:23 PM

Our Family almost always went out for Easter Brunch, after Mass....then, home to make deviled eggs for dinner..:D
