week and check in Sunday April 4

Hello Friends,

How are you and what is happening?

My friend from work (we've known each other for 25 years) got a clear 3 month report from his oncologist. I'm so happy. :) I'm happy for him and his family too of course. :)
I was hopeful but concerned for him during his chemo and radiation treatments -- he started back in August.

Hi Mari

Easter Sunday here... mostly just kicking back.

I am happy with you for the good news your friend got, Mari! :) Sending him good vibes for continued health.

I am mostly ok. Been helping dad redo our bus schedule as there were major changes. Haven't resumed my C# project yet... hopefully next week. Nor looked into a choir... sigh. But i've done some walking, fast and long enough to actually feel it. Boy, am I out of shape! :o Hopefully i can keep this up and get in better shape.

Hope you are having a good weekend. :)

Hi Mari and Waves.

Mari, that is great news about your friend getting a good report.

Waves, I should go for a walk today also. You gave me a good idea to do so.

I made up a poem for my boyfriend, Cocky, last night and can't wait to give it to him. He's out of town with his kids this weekend. Today I just plan on getting things done to get ready for my surgery on Tuesday. Yesterday I moved around furniture to make room for the medical equipment I'll need for recovery.

having some friends over for a shrimp boil.
trying to watch what I eat because dinner will be a splurge!
our neighbor brought over some chocolate...will give this to our friends teenager.
yesterday we hired some high schoolers to rake leaves and clear out a bed under a huge oak tree in the back yard they put 27 bags to the curb...that was a lot of leaves and debree!
they worked hard for their money!
we did alittle cleaning the house needed it desperately.
Jeff is good about helping when we have company come over which is once or twice a year.

soup / also a walk

Hi,

When I woke up early afternoon hubby had a fever of 101.1.
He asked me to make some soup if I could manage it !
I found 1/2 rotisserie chicken from Publix in the fridge. I added:

-1 small cabbage (it is acidic and pulls calcium and such from the chic bones)
-1 cauliflower
-1 tomato
-1/2 onion
-1 cut up carrot

Then I went to the store and added more stuff when I got home:

-parsley
-garlic
-ginger

I forgot the stores were all closed for the holiday -- but the health food store was open. I bought lots of canned soups that were on sale.
The last time I checked his fever was down a bit. He is sleeping with lots of blankets so he can sweat he says.

I'm going out for a walk before it gets dark.

Hope everyone had a happy easter!

My day is/was pretty uneventful... no one here and haven't heard from a soul.

Think I am going to take my meds and go back to bed....

:(

Mari 04-05-2010 12:37 AM

Thanks, Barbara,

Hubby's temp is normal.
He feels weak and congested. He's better.
I'm worn out from keeping up with the kitchen / laundry. . . .

I didn't get any of my own work done for Monday.

Dear Waves,
That is great about the walking.
I hope that you get the bus schedule straightened out.

Dear Barbara,
We'll be thinking about you during your surgery and your recovery.
Good vibes going your way!

Dear Bizi,
You've been busy straightening out the house inside and outside!
How did the shrimp boil go?

Dear Abbie,
Wow? A quiet day for you on Easter?
Maybe the relatives will be back next weekend instead.
I hope you get some good rest.

Hugs for everyone. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

It is good to have company.... little bit of cleaning and straightening up makes me feel good.

the boil went great, every one had their fill I was worried about that...our friend, paul is a huge eater even he had his fill!
the shrimp tasted good!

the only problem I have is that I can never be present when we have company over. It is always a blur...it is almost like not being there.
I don't remember conversations....can only focus on the house and making sure that the meal was hot and that every thing that they needed was all there. preset the table of course. And I wanted to clean up after dinner we had all of these shrimp pieces every where and hubby kept telling me to stop and just leave the dishes in the sink, food stuff on the counter stuff on the stove........I tried but it bothered me to have a dirty kitchen with 2 big pots and pans, and all of the other things, they made margaritas, jsut sitting there a mess....I was ready for them to leave so I could clean up the kitchen.
Maybe if we had company more often I would not be so anxious about it.
We sat outside it was a beautiful day....wondered about the yard that was nice. the kitchen was out of sight.
then we hung out in the living room, again the kitchen was out of sight.
Paul our friend had abstained from drinking for lent, and was in full form and susan drived them home. I gave her the brownies so as not to be a temptation. It really was a beautiful day! and in the end enjoyed myself.

(with the kitchen out of sight!) i can appreciate the preoccupation with the kitchen in such circumstances... it is not like ordinary mess... it is like watching a disaster zone build up and not being allowed to prevent it. i think you are right, though, that if you had company more often you might take things more in stride.

i am glad that your shrimp turned out good and plentiful, that it was a pleasant day and especially that you enjoyed yourself in spite of everything. ;)

Hoping all had a great Easter. And Mari I hope your hubby continued
to get better.

I spent the weekend helping with my mom. And man is Derrick
lots of help. On Saturday he bought everyone Potato Bar, and
I threw in Fruit for dessert.
