Hi from Sunny Scotland
Hi My name is Arlene and i am a 43 year old PN sufferer, sometimes I am at the end of my tether and I come on here and read the posts, it is normally enough just knowing others are experiencing the same as me.
I am still working full time but I dont know how long I will be able to keep this up, the tiredness is a killer as I cant sleep for the pain at night and then have to get up for work in the morning. Has anyone tried an intensive accupuncture/reflexology course? - I went to Chinese doc who said he could cure me and it would take many months but the cost was around £150 per week - I dont have that at the moment, but would do without other things if i thought it would work. - I bought a medical rebuilder but dont seem to have the cure I had hoped. Anyway thanks for reading. Arlene |

Hello Arlene!
It's one of my life's ambitions to visit Scotland! One of my biggest humor inspirations is Craig Ferguson! :p My DVR faithfully records his show every night! http://dl8.glitter-graphics.net/pub/...b5cv13ukjf.jpg So glad you found this fantastic forum! I see you've latched on to the PN forum.....:) lots of wonderful folks there ... That's where I hang out most as well......so, see ya there! Rae |
Your welcome to Scotland any time but the damp weather aint good for PN, glad you like Craig Ferguson - he isnt known here at all which is a shame.:(

Welcome. I'm VERY interested in your experience with the Rebuilder. I just recently put up a post on this in the Neuropathy Forum. Can you share your experience and results using the Rebuilder? I'd appreciate it. Thanks much Melody |
Hey, all the way from Scotland...
it's a small world. I too would love to visit your homeland. About the reflexology, well, I think it's a tremendous help. My therapist/friend got me a twist board for Christmas, about $20. http://images.google.com/images?hl=e...-8&sa=N&tab=wi This is something I can do while I work, about an hour a day. I think it's helped me. The footprints are cool. If the chinese person says he can CURE you for 150 a week, I'd have to sacrafice whatever I had to and give it a whirl. Did he say how long it would take? Did he say they may be risks involved with his methodds? Ask questions before you commit. If you feel comfortable with him, heck yeah, go for it. See ya around the board. Please keep us posted on your decision and hopefully progress. |
Sunny Scotland? I love a person with a sense of humour!
So, welcome from Balmy Canada.:D |
We had one day on sunshine in 1973 lol:)

[Hi Melody
I bought the rebuilder in September and used it twice a day - the dry method as i didnt like the fuss of using water - at first I set it too high and felt my nerves were frazzled - the pain was awful! I contacted the on-line support and the girl said I needed to reduce the setting that I had overworked my nerves so wait a few days before using again - i put the setting at 2 and continued twice a day and felt great improvement - the soles of my feel felt like lumps of flesh that werent connected to the rest of my body, a strange feeling but I was euphoric(an end to this nightmare was in sight) - after a few weeks my pain levels got really bad again and after consulting my GP i stopped using this - but by now it was winter and we have seen the worst snow that I can remember and I dont know if anyone else notices the cold weather increases their pain? I have recently started to use the Rebuilder again and get total pain relief while it is on and the pain then gradually builds up again - i am in two minds about whether it is working or not so would not recommend anyone rushes to buy it at that price but i will keep you posted on my progress with it - hopefully by the end of this year I will be evangellical about it as I will be cured - I am known as the eternal optimist! |
Do you have a national holiday to commemorate it? Everybody around here still talks about that January day back in '63 when they didn't have to zip their parkas to the neck. Personally, I think that's just a non-urban legend.

I have always loved the movie Mary Queen of Scots. I'm a romantic at heart I guess. Anyway, hope you're doing well. Mel |

I though it was going to be like a Haggis in the oven, swelling up and about to pop open! I find that in my situation, the nerves in my 'pinky' seem to amplify the temperature. It is the same when picking up a hot drink... my other fingers can feel that the mug is hot, but my 'pinky' feel like it is on fire! Oh and a belated welcome by the way! |
Thanks Robin, you are so lucky to be walking around the streets of Edinburgh, I just love it and dont visit our capital enough, I am from Airdrie.
I know what you mean about the temperature, I went out in the snow barefooted and couldnt even feel the cold - weird (but weird is just what this disorder is). Do you know of any PN support grpoups in the Central Belt? Hope the better weather will make the symptoms more tolerable.:) |
hi melody,
i see you've found somewhere to nest here. i hope you get all the support you need. what's PN? and what's a rebuilder. sorry i'm so in the dark. looking forward to more of your posts. |

go to the Peripheral Neuropathy forum and you'll learn all about PN. The rebuilder is kind of like a wet tens unit that delivers electrical stimulation and re-programs the nerves into not firing so horribly. At least that's what I think it is. right now, I'm over at the Computer Message boards because I tried to play my dvd of Avatar but my computer IS NOT COMPUTING. Almost got it to work but my VLC media thing crashed. So if you are any kind of computer whiz, go to Computer support on this website, and you'll learn all kinds of stuff. This Neurotalks helps MANY people with MANY problems, not just health. Thank god for this website. Take care, and have a nice day. Melody |
