Week one of Ketamine has worked so far!!
Dear friends,
My first week of ketamine infusions has been fairly successful - about 75% of my pain has abated!! I truly feel blessed!! On my first day I noticed that I could tolerate being exposed to loud noises again, (although after a while I became agitated and wanted to get away from them). I can wear a bra strap over my shoulder for the first time since my injury in Nov 2006! I can lean back against my shoulder in the car and wear a seatbelt! The only area where I am still having some issues is the back of my head in the occipital area and deep within the shoulder itself. But I am really much better off than ever before. NO OTHER treatment has ever been as effective for me. The side effects on the first few days were intense nausea, so more meds were added to my bag. Getson uses a different dose of ketamine for each patient. and his policy to not disclose to his patients how much ketamine they are getting so that they don't have any preconceived expectations. The true test will be to see how well it holds, and whether it lasts. Since it is the weekend, I have the next 2 days off. I've been too tired to walk much, and too confused to be able to read and comprehend the newspapers everyday or a good book. So I am looking forward to a few days of normalcy. Thanks so much SandyS for your good wishes on Monday morning, and to everyone that replied, that was so, so nice. You guys are really Awesome!! Much love and peace, Sandy |
Sandy,
I am so happy that you are feeling some relief. When Lindsay had the treatments she had a lot of muscle aches. So get some rest and take some epsom salt baths. It will help with the soreness. Move your limbs in the warm water. I am thinking about you. Get some well deserved sleep this week end. You are in my prayers. Peace Sandy Quote:

Great to hear this!
Sandy RI can I ask you what your injury was? The way you described some of your pain in the shoulder and the occipital area sounds exactly how I describe mine and I was just recently diagnosed with RSD or CRPS2 due to an injured suprascapular and axillary nerve in my shoulder. Just curious how yours developed. |
Great News!!
Sandy,
I am so pleased to hear this. This is a blessing for you. I pray this continues to work for you, you fought for this and deserve the greatest outcome!! I will continue to keep you in my prayers. Wishing you a pain free life...:) Jeanie |

I was accepted into the study Stanford for the Real Time MRI with IV infusion of Lidocaine. I don't know when it will be as of yet but I have been accepted/ Debby |
Dear Sandy -
Sorry to be late in picking this up. I join the group in their happiness for your good results, and wish you a calm and peaceful next few weeks, so your body and mind can take full advantage of the experience. Mike  |
Looking for Sandy RI
Hi Sandy- I realize its been a couple of years since your posts---but I am currently going through what you have gone through and am looking at the Ketamine therapy- I am hoping inpatient. I also have UHC, so I wanted to see what the outcome was of your appeals and if there are any procedure codes or advice you can give me to get this approved. It hasnt been denied, I am just trying to get the info.
Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated as you can imagine! *** Thank you so much! Jen |
