Could This Be Our New WC
Looks like it would take a meassure of balance from you too. Cool, though, From Honda.:)

I WANT one! I really, really WANT one!:D

Oh my goodness...what a miracle!! This could revolutionize mobility for the disabled, for sure...:D
By the way, when I first read the Thread heading, I thought you were discussing water closets... |
Uh Sally. My thighs aren't that young and thin. AND I think I'd fall right off anyway. Cool, but definitely not for me.
|
It looks great, but there are a few things wrong with it being for disabled people. I don't know about others, but for me, siting up unsupported like that is more exhausting than even just having something to lean my back against, or sometimes even walking is easier for me than sitting unsupported.
But if they can make this, they should be able to make something along these lines that will work even for people who are more disabled. Thanks for sharing! Kristie |
Wonder who Honda thinks would be interested in this machine. I would be on either my head or butt quickly after getting on it.

I thought Water Closet too...
I would stay upright maybe 2 seconds on that thing. Tom |
I noticed how freely it moved before you even sit down on it. Did anybody see any brakes? It's a menace I tell Ya..
It might as well be a water closet. :D |
It would be quite exciting to try and ride it with less than perfect balance. The technology will some day help the disabled, but ready for prime time now.

I'd give it a whirl. I wonder if there is an all-terrain model . . . so I could get back to hiking again! Seriously, I think it looks like a great innovation with great possibilities.

Looks pretty cool, but I'd need a seatbelt in order to stay on. Yep, that was my first thought, LOL! :D

See my Avatar! When kids were toddlers and I wasn't yet DXed and far from being in a chair, they called handicapped symbol "Potty-man".
|
I’d have to wait until they come up with a “plus size” model. In any case, it looks like loads of fun.

That is neat!!!!! But if I took that to Disney World as my wh/ch I would still be exhausted because I can't lean back and relax, put my feet on the foot rest, etc. And I need my basket! Plus it would get stolen. But would be nice for strolling along the river, zoo.

I googled it and found another video. (it's a youtube link)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dTy50T9fGQ This video showed some people playing around with the U3-X at what looks like a hotel convention room. There's some actual audio in the video and it sounds like the U3-X is loud. It looks like you cant exactly use the U3-x as a wheelchair, because I saw people having to use their feet to change directions. I just dont see someone who cant move using this thing. It's still cool, but I'm guessing it's not practical for a handicapped person to use it. The way I feel right now, I doubt I'd be able to use something like this, and I can walk. (right now I have deep full body numbness, whole body feels like it's in a spasticity attack, especially my back, and I'm dizzy and feel like I'm going to fall over while just sitting here) I think this thing would make me even more dizzy. I still think it's cool tho. It'd be cool if they could adapt the technology they used for practical use in the handicap world. |

Thanks Erin. |
Watched the videos again. It's nice but not appropriate for a lot of handicapped people. I can't go to Disney World in the heat and expect to sit on that all day and not wilt. I need to be able to sit supported, have somewhere to put my arms for support, where can I put my supplies. My son in laws would have a blast playing with it though!
