I love my life! HA!

FYI
I just wanted to let you all know how much I love my life! Ha! I have a wonderful man who just keep finding me on the floor in random places in my house. He carries me to our couch where I just sleep for hrs. I have my stepson who has been through the worst of it! He has found me in a puddle of blood when I have passed out and split my vagina open!
I have had 2 pass out spells today, one at 3:30 am and one at 10:30 am! I hurt! But yet I love these pass out spells! Let me paint you a picture of all the wonderful things they have done for me!

1) They have stripped me of all my self dignity!
2) They have caused me to lose what ever sanity I might have had!
3) They have given me fear to walk around my own home!
4) They have made sure that I am so afraid to walk down stairs and if I have no choice then I am petrified the whole time I am doing it!
5) They have taken away any kind of control I feel I might have over my own life!
6) They have finally taken away my ability to drive!
7) They have taken away any kind of independence I may have ever had!
8) This one kind of goes along with #2, They have made it impossible for me to stop feeling sorry for myself!
9) They have managed to make me scared to be alone!
10) They have made it so I am afraid to go out in public!

These are just a few samples of the wonderful thing these syncope episodes have given me! Oh and I love how there isn't a doctor in this area that can figure out what is wrong with me and how the hell to fix me! That is just another wonderful reassuring thing these pass out spells have given me!

I live in fear every day, and I just wish people would stop telling me to move on and to stop thinking about it! Are they falling down and hurting themselves? Are they getting any of the 10 wonderful things I listed for you? I am tired, scared and I hurt, but make sure you say you are doing just fine an your life is wonderful, because if you don't then you get a nice 11 day visit to a psych hospital! That helped me so much! 11 days well spent!

HI,
This is awful. Today was tough.
And the recent hospital stay was not helpful.

That's a darned shame -- that you feel without support. Those people care about themselves.

I'm happy that your husband and step son have been there to pick you up.

Colleen,

You have every right to feel the way that you do. I hope that coming here and getting it out was helpful. My thoughts are with you.

I hope its helping too.

I would also suggest that if you haven't had a EEG for seizures. You ask your doctor about this. It really sounds a lot like this could be whats causing these problems. I would definately get it checked out.

Hi!

Hi guys,
Thank you for being concerned! I am still here! I am just feeling a bit confused and all around crappy! I just get so tired with all the bull! I just want to be normal and live a normal life! Without taking 26, I think, a day!

Hi,
One good thing about docs looking for stuff is that after all those tests you find out you are in perfect health. That's good news. (Trying to see the bright side for you. )

Actually, I don't mean to be unhelpful but an EEG can miss stuff.
Too bad you were not hooked up at a time when you fainted.

Mari is so right. I hope these symptoms go away.

I wonder what would happen if they tried one of the seizure meds too.
I know that they are used lots of times for depression and anxiety.

Dear Collinsc,
Please forgive me for asking. Have you ever taken an antiepileptic / anticonvulsant?
Wikipedia has a list of them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anticonvulsant

Mari,
You made me laugh actually when I read your line about prefect health! 3yrs ago I thought I was in perfect health and then I am not sure what went wrong! Diagnosed with bipolar I raped cycling, started having these pass out spells, couldn't get the bipolar in check, found out heart was stopping so got a pacemaker, still have pass out episodes, still can't get bipolar in check, and I am anorexic.

I have heard that an EEG can miss stuff but my docs tell me that it is my blood pressure and not seizures that are causing this. I would kill to be hooked up to something when one of these things happened.

overheard talk in pdoc

Hi,
When I was in my pdoc/neuro's waiting room earlier today I overheard a patient talking about
severe neuro problems that went on for two years. The docs eventually figured out she had an infection and gave her major antibiotics for like 6 weeks.
She had several docs involved.

Eventually some one fiigured out that she had two infected teeth that had spread an infection to her brain.

The dentist had told her two or three years ago that the teeth were fine as long as they were not bothering her.
Her neuro problems caused her to stop working. It was a horror story -- all because of two teeth that she and the dentist knew about.
As I said I was trying hard not to listen to her story so I am not clear on the details.
The point was that the docs were looking in her head when they should have been looking in her mouth. !!

Ia this what you have been talking about?
Low blood pressure or maybe pooling of blood in the legs.

I wish you better health. :)

I take a directic and wonder if that is why I keep getting dehydrated. The article was interesting Mari, thank for the link to it.

Colleen, do you have a blood pressure monitor that you can check you blood pressure to know when it is low?

barbara

bizi 05-21-2010 11:04 AM

colleen, the trileptal can cause a low sodium, it caused that in me had to switch to lamictal. I ma sorry that you suffer with an eating disorder too...this could contribute to the problem.

waves 05-22-2010 07:10 AM

hi collinsc

i am sorry your friends don't understand how hard things are for you. i do not think your life is 'fine' nor would i like to have the problems that you do with the syncope on top of everything else. :(

that is true about the trileptal - i also had issues with it. came on suddenly and i had been taking it for quite sometime, without issue. i don't know if it was low sodium - i just tried lowering the dose and since the problems did not go away he switched me off of it period. my symptoms were fatigue and imbalance (poor coordination, stumbling), with paresthesia of the torso, arms and face.

Barbara,
Hello! I do have a blood pressure machine that I use to use 5 times a day! It would sometimes be extremely low in the morning, I would pass out and my husband would take it and it would be low! Like really low 45/32 things like that! Sometimes it would be so low that the machine would not even read it! I no longer test it because we have all the evidence that we need and it really just upsets me!

Vanderbilt!

Hello there,
I do not have much hope that this new cardiologist is going to be able to fix me! I already see two of the best in the area and I live right near Albany N.Y. I am hoping on the other hand to get some answers August 13th when I go to Nashville Tenn. There is a place that specializes in syncope (fainting)! They are #1 in the country! It is the Vanderbilt University/Hospital/Clinic. I guess from what I am understanding, which isn't much, there is a problem with my Autonomic system. Your autonomic system controls many things in your body, blood pressure being one of them. I think if any place or persons are going to be able to fix me it will be there and them! Now all I have to do is not have another nervous breakdown before then! LOL!!

collinsc:hug:

waves 05-24-2010 08:09 AM

Good to hear that you are going to Vanderbilt, Collinsc. sounds like the right place!

I hope that they will be able to give you some answers - and some solutions!:)

hold tight till then.

Vanderbilt will help you

Hi,

I found a link describing what they do. I hope that when you go back home you will have good answers.

http://www.mc.vanderbilt.edu/root/vu...e=adc&doc=4789

Did you know that fainting accounts for 3% of all emergency visits?
Quote:

Syncope is a sudden and transient loss of consciousness and postural tone, usually described as “fainting” or “passing out”. It is a common problem, accounting for 3% of emergency room visits.
Wow.

Here might be your docs there:

Thanks for finding the link Mari

I didn't realize but that was a lot of what I was tested for last year.

Mine has more or less gone away. I still have the dizziness.

But I have never completely fainted, I've come very close though.

I forgot I was being tested for the syncope. Though.

We are not sure how long we are going yet. We own a taxi company so it is hard to get time away! I am hoping for 3 days but we will see. The tests themselves are done in one day! One appointment at 10 something and another at 1 something. After that I do not know when you get the results!

Another!!

Well I had another fainting episode yesterday morning! My stepson heard me hit the floor and came running up the stairs to find me passed out on the floor by the couch! He called his dad and asked him what to do and my husband said to pick me up and put me on the couch. I guess this happened at 5 something and I woke up on the couch at 7 something not knowing how I got there! Just makes me so mad that there isn't anything I or the doctors can do about this! Between the 2 episodes on Tuesday and the one yesterday I am covered in bruises and I hurt!
