the same year i had to quit work . wonder if it is linked with filing ? and can it stop you from getting approved oh graet another worry.. why i wait my first descion:confused::(

I'm no expert but I would guess that this is a pure fluke.
I wouldn't think that this would stop you from getting SSD approved... Remember though... many people are not approved on initial application and have to go through the appeals process. I wish you the best. Abbie |

Good luck with your audit. But, not to worry the two are not connected. Good luck with your claim. Trudi |
yes the encouraging word is that it was an irs mistake, two years in a row and the same mistake both times and i owed them nothing. since then everything has gone smoothly.

It will get better!!!

One has nothing to do with the other
You're linking two separate governmental agencies together that don't care one bit about the other. Your SSD is based off of your disability, and then how much you've worked along with your age and some other stuff like that all added together.
Being audited is just a luck of the draw or if you had some items that we're flagged because of being a bit unusual. On a average 1 in 10 are audited and when there's extensive medical costs that number can be as high as 1 in 5 so don't worry. As long as you can prove your expenses most people often learn they're owed more than they originally thought instead of the other way around. It's only when there's some unique business expenses that the IRS gets a little nasty and I'm glad they do. It's time the average tax payer stop supplementing the two martini business lunch while we ate at McDonald's on our own dime. Quote:

well we cashed in a 401 k and claimed it on turbo tax and it is on the paper .the exact anoutn we claimed.. turbo tax seperated on on one line and one on another, we cashed in 3 of them to survive.. not like we hid it or anything we were hionest and it shows good faith i would think that we didt hide it and our amount matches their dispute right on the farm. but turbo tax put it in the wrong line , so now they say we owe 7000.00 pkus 1200. penalties.. and intrest .. buy june 23. .. it doesnt seem fair , we claimed it turbo tax checked it and now more than a year later. we are hit.. i wish they would at least not make up pay the penalty , we didnt try to evade or any thing . just a good ole turbo tax glitch i guess?? thanks so much for all the support. some time ya feel like punching bag , i feel so bad for my husband he works so hard , and i let himn down by not being able to work any more ruined our life plan , and now this.. he sticks by me .. but i feel like i ruined everything sometimes.. then i rememebr so many others have it so much worse.. and try to contain my pity and my nerves.. and be thankful for the good things:):grouphug:

do some Google searches to see if any others had the similar glitches with turbo tax.
was it the online version or did you download the turbo tax program it to your computer ? I always have double check mine , just to be sure I don't put a wrong number in the wrong place . But either way- if you can show you put a wrong number in the wrong place, or if you can find info on turbo tax glitches... you should be able to show the proof and be OK. As long as the corrected tax form is done & accepted and the correct amounts paid or refunded. If the mistake got you more money back then that will have to be repaid somehow. Google search -glitches with turbotax - make sure the year is the correct one for you when you read the info. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&c...rbotax&spell=1 http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=turbo...ff71c5ab2f939d |
contact the number for the IRS that came with the letter about owing the tax and penalties. If that doesnt get you anywhere go to the local IRS office and bring in your paperwork and anything you can find online about turbo tax glitches for the year you filed. I got a notice that i owed $26,000 and i wound up owing nothing.
