How's your weather?
We are getting snow again today. 1 to 4 inches. I have a Drs. appt. this evening, most likely won't make it. Also have one Friday but they are calling for an even bigger snow storm Friday.
This will be our 8th weekend in a roll of snow not counting what we are getting through the weeks. I use to think I would love to have a Dr. or Lawyer in the family but I'm happy now with a plumber. Mine was just out here. I had a busted outside water pipe and didn't notice it until yesterday. Susan and I had been trying to figure out why my water bill was higher with just me here, now I know. LOL This is the second time he's been out here. We have lived here for over 8 years and the is the first year ever that we have had busted pipes. I was wondering how everyone was faring in this weather. My heat bill this month was 222. and that's with keeping my heat at 60 each night. Like Rosie, I don't need the heat at night my body burns hot enough that it doesn't need anymore heat thanks to all of the diseases. At least we won't be in a drought this year. We've delt with that for the past 5 years. I HATE THIS WEATHER. Ada |
Hi Ada.. It is so cold here and we are suppose to get snow and ice this afternoon. I don't mind the snow but hate the ice.
So how have you been? I am so sorry I haven't called the past few weeks but have been so busy with my new job and then I have started my own business as well so I have no time for me, or so it seems. LOL Also, I am suppose to be moving but with no time and bad weather that's not going so well.. I will try to give you a call sometime this weekend an we can catch up.. Love ya, Janet |
Hi Janet,
I was going to email you yesterday but I have the wrong email address.
We have had the ice and snow also. Never did have weather like we are having now. I am cancelling my Drs. appt. here for today and Friday. I can already tell by this evening it's going to me 10 times worse then what it is now. I have been watching the weather some and it looks like most states are getting hit hard with ice storms and snow storms. Even Florida was in the 30's yesterday. My friend is in Arizona and they got some snow last week. That almost never happens in the area she's in. It just seems never ending. I can just hear Bill if he were here today. He would have been driving me nuts wanting to go somewhere. Actually he would have went in it. He wouldn't have cared how bad it was. We still have at least 3 more months of winter and at this rate, I'll never get anywhere in the next 3 months unless someone takes me. Ada |
it's ugly here too ada.....we started out with such a mild winter, but january has been nasty.....we've had several one-to-two-inch snows which melt just enough to make ice.....and this sunday it's supposed to go down to 2 degrees (from a high of 16!).....i'm with u....i hate it.
think spring.....THINK HARDER! |
Cold and getting colder I think news man said it will last into the middle of next month  BRRRRR
|
we are freezing here...............
hi ada, we are freezing here.............not much snow to speak of tho.........i bet in april we will be bombarded with the snow.!!!!! it is something like 9 degrees here today.............i hate going out in this, but frank has daily therapy and i have to drive him..............
I am with ya coach.......BRING ON THE SUMMER........................I HATE WINTER IN MICHIGAN..........BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR |
Hi Girls,
I figured I wasn't alone in this mess.
I did go to see my Dr. this evening. It had been snowing off and on all day but it wasn't piling on and the sun came out to melt it some. I thought well i'll go ahead and go since it's not bad. When I left the Drs. office it was snowing and already had over an inch and was like a blizzard coming home. I drove about 20 miles an hour all the way, it was worse out in my area. I couldn't see the lines on the highway. When cars came toward me I knew I was in the wrong lane. I thought about picking up my boys but decided I didn't want to take a chance with them. I can't believe this crap. I got all of my spickets dripping. It's suppose to get to 7 tonight. Friday night it's suppose to get to around 5 and lots of snow. I am having trouble even getting out to pay bills. I have to have Susan to pay them for me by phone. They are paying the ones I can't pay. I'm very blessed with those two. Travis called me Sunday night to tell me to hand Susan any bills I can't pay and he'll pay them. He wants to get my house paid off and get me moved into a smaller place and have this for a rental for extra money. He's making the plans and I'm find with them. I have 10 more payments on my home and it's mine. It's a long 10 months though because I lost Bill's income and only have mine to live on. I was very worried about it and cried a lot until Travis called me. Losing Bill gets harder instead of easier. The man only had a 6th grade education but he was one of the smartest people I ever knew. He kept up with everything going on in the world and knew how to do everything. If something could be fixed he could do it. He was disabled for years but he did so much for the elderly and disabled. He would take them to Drs., he would take groceries to them and he would haul people anywhere they needed to go most always for no pay. All of Susan's friends called on him for everything they couldn't do from installing a dishwasher to fixing pipes and cars. Her friends thought of him as their Dad. He made them laugh and would pull jokes on them and they loved having him around. He spoiled me rotten. We were together 34+ years and everyone that knew us said we were made for each other. We had our ups and downs like everyone do. I mostly got mad at him. He would laugh when I wouldn't say I loved him and say that's ok, I know you do. I use to say he was smug. My Mom and Dad worshiped him and thought of him as their own and my family loved him. They called and talked to both of us all of the time from Ky. I just didn't have the same luck with his family but his kids love me. We had a rough time because he was disabled for so many years but we still had about anything we needed. We did antiquing on the side to keep going and he loved redoing furniture and being around people. I can honestly say he was one of the best people I have ever known. I am pregadist but I also know this is all true about him. He was good looking, smart, funny, sometimes too funny, I couldn't have a serious conversation with him. I know that I would have to look a long long time to find someone to even come close to how he was. I always say he was from the old school. I knew at the funeral how much he was loved by the people there and everyone that talks about him when I see them. I just wanted to write this to let you know kind of what my life was with him. I was proud of him all of the time. Mad at times but still proud. I was lucky to have these years with him. I told my Dr. today who is one of my best friends that what bothered me the most is that I couldn't get well in time for us to get back to somewhat of a normal life together. I tried harder the last year or so because I knew what shape he was in and I knew when the time was getting near but I just couldn't get to the point where we could enjoy more things together with him. I hope this doesn't bore you guys but I just wanted to share this with you. Thanks for all of the support you guys have given me. Coming here to talk to you guys helps keep me going. Ada |
Not in the least boring, Ada, thank you.
You're doing well, so well. xx |
ada,
that was great thank you for sharing that with us :) it warmed my heart on this cold snowy day. flippnout:rolleyes: |
Ada, it took me three tries to read that...I teared up so much, just reading it. The love you two had for each other - and actually STILL have - just shines thru that post. Going back, reading the posts you have written since his passing that's all I hear is that love.
I can only hope that my SO will speak as highly of me as you do Bill when I leave this earth. I'm sure he will...he does NOW. But I have to say that I, too, feel you are one of the luckiest women I know, to have loved and been loved the way you were and still are. Many blessings were given to you in your lifetime, and are still to come. Not only from Bill, from from your friends and family. I envy you. Cherish those memories of Bill...and cherish the loved ones you have surrounding you now, for they are not with you only because of Bill's passing...but because of your kindness and the love you have given them thru the years. Now, I'm crying again. When your funds get better, you owe me a tube of mascara!!! :winky:  |
I'm here in Wisconsin! Lucky me. It is 6 degrees right now, and it feels like -9. The cold drives me crazy! I can't stand it.
|
Ada, you made me tear up too.
I'm glad you have close and caring family near you.:grouphug: I hope you all get to warm up soon. |
Wow. What a difference in weather!:p Here in the NE USA it was 45 degrees today. Expecting snow tonight, and tommorow.
|
Thank all of you
for your support. I felt I just had to share what I was feeling about Bill. It doesn't seem to get easier that's for sure. I know I'm blessed with family and friends. I have always had good family support through my sisters, brother, daughter, step-kid, and all of my friends. Including all of you here.
It has stayed cold here. It was 5 degrees Thursday night I know it was in the teens last night. I left my water dripping again. The main roads are clear here but the back roads and parking lots are like ice. We are suppose to see weather up in the 40's this week so maybe the snow and ice will be gone soon. We still have months of winter left and that worries me according to what we had already had. As I'd said before, we have never had a winter like this one as I can remember and everyone else thinks the same way. I was just wondering about everyone elses. I saw some crazy weather in CA and Florida on the map. Thanks again for all of your support. Ada By the way Lisa, that mascara better be a cheap brand. IF you find one that really is waterproof let me know. I'm tired of looking like a raccoon after crying all of the time. At least it gives everyone a good laugh though. |
Oh Crud! I was so engulfed in Ada's wonderful description of her love, that I forgot to talk about our weather.
Actually, today, it's so cold they closed all the schools. At 6 a.m. it was -4 (yep, actual temp!) and the windchill was -25. They said being outside for 10 minutes could get you frostbite. Pain is HORRIFIC today. Ugh. |
It got up to almost 60 here yesterday. Would have been nice if it weren't for the wind blowing. I could go outside though with only a sweater on. We are suppose to see more of it this week. I hope so. After 8 weeks of snow, I'm ready for the warm weather. It's a far cry from the weather Friday. Dustin stayed all night with me Thursday night and their school was on a 2 hour delay. It was 5 degrees here. Our weather changes faster then most places I have seen. All of the snow is already gone.
This is the worst winter I have seen in Co. in the 33 years I have lived here. Thank God we don't have much longer to go of it. Lisa, I don't know where you live but it sounds like you are getting what we were getting. Emily's grandma called me yesterday and she said they were freezing at 5 degrees there too. Ada |
hi ada, it was good to talk with you yesterday...
lisam and i are both from michigan....we are both freezing our butts off........no snow here in downriver tho..................just the blast of ice cold temps.........brrrrrrrrrrrrrr |
Hi woman,
It was good to talk to you yesterday. As I said Sunday's are my hardest days without Bill so it was good to be able to talk to you.
I didn't know Lisa was in Michigan. No wonder she's cold. This weather here is just not what we have delt with before . Last year at Christmas it was 70 degrees. I hope this will go down in history as the worst winter in Colorado. LOL Ada |
This weather here in wisconsin is messing with my head lol! About 2 weekends ago i was sitting out on my friends porch at 10:00 at night with just a light sweatshirt on. At the moment its -14 degrees (actual temp). the wind chill is about -30. They had to cancel school today cuz it was too dangerous to make kids wait for the buses. Theyre thinking the same thing is gunna happen again tomorrow. Crazy business this weather.
|
Greetings from Southern California. Current temp. 85 degrees F., with an expected high of 87 for today.
Damn those mid-winter AC bills! Seriously, with very little rain this winter, it will be fire season before we know it. I guess you take whatever comes with the territory. |
fmichael,
would you all like some company? LOL You better keep hush hush about those temps or we'll all be on our way out to your place.. hee hee It is in the mid 30's here and the windchill makes it even worse so I think I'll pack me a bag and head your way. :D Take care and soak up some of that good ole warm, sunshiny weather.. Love, Janet |
Hi Janet,
I have been outside today with just a sweater on. The wind is blowing but it's not bad.
I've always loved Co. weather. No humidity in the summer time. The snow in the winter is usually melted as quick as it comes but this winter has been bad. It's suppose to stay like this until Sunday and then some rain and snow. I hope not as much as we have been getting though. I told you a long time ago to get that plane ticket and come on up. Ada |
Okay, who has the bus????? We're all on our way to Mike's house!
:Excited: Curious is bringing the snacks, right????? And the WARM cookies??? I'll bring the hot cocoa! School is closed for the second day in a row here in Michigan. It's 4 BELOW ZERO here today, with the wind chills at like 20 BELOW or something again. Your nose hairs freeze the minute you go outside. It's UCKY here. I feel especially sorry for the homeless people, and I'm tempted to kidnap the dog next door to me. Jed's owner doesn't have a house for him to stay in or anything, and poor Jed is always laying outside on the stoop with no shelter. I'm ready to go get him. Poor little guy. Well, he's not LITTLE. His "buddy" is a little Jack Russel who scares the crud out of me every day cuz he hides behind the bushes and jumps out at my car when I come down the road and chases me into my driveway - I KNOW he's usually there, and I EXPECT him, but I still jump and my heart beats 1000 mph when I glimpse him out of the corner of my eye and hear him bark. LOL! And it's KILLING my hands. Horribly. |

Our kids would have school if it were 50 below and we had snow neck deep. They have only been on a two hour delay with these 2 months of snow. The bus drivers were mad about driving in this weather we have had but the school wants that money for each child they have in school. That's the whole point of it.
When I was growing up in Ky. We would get out for 2 weeks at a time due to the roads they were so curvy. Here we have curvy roads to the high school and the buses still run no matter what. Ada |
I hear ya....
Boy do I hear ya there Ada! LOL
They send these kids to school in any weather. I've said many times the only way they'd stop school is if there was 10 feet of snow and it was 50 below....Your right - It's all about money - You'd think tho that they'd pass something for COLD weather up here in the frozen tundra. I know their allowed snow days but what about the freezing cold - I felt just awful having them walk to the bus stop and wait for the bus and it's only 1 1/2 blocks away! |
Quote:
They didn't want kids waiting for the buses outside in this stuff, when you can get frostbite after only 10 minutes. Myabe Wisconsin just doesn't care about their kids as much as Michigan does. J/k! LOLOLOL! |
LOL! No harm ment either to all those teachers and bus drivers - I know I would not want their jobs - All that jibber/jabber for hours on end - I feel for the rural drivers out here - some of their routes take over 2 hours!!! NOOOOOO way! So much drama too - Yikes!
That is wierd! One school open!?? Guess they really needed the monies...Isnt it sad that they will put childrens life in jeopardy over $$$ |
I walked Dustin down to the bus stop when he stayed here Friday. Even though they were on a 2 hour delay it was 5 degrees out. I wanted to make sure he got there ok. We almost missed it though.
I just think that it's a shame that they do make our kids wait for a bus or even walk to school in 5 degrees weather. Devin had 2 walk and it was 5 blocks. Susan didn't have her vehicle Friday. What if a kid got hurt on the way to school, they would freeze in that weather? IT is a money issue. They get so much money for each child they have in school each day. I don't think it should be based on that. Ada |
Hi Everyone,
I am so sorry about the weather some of you are dealing with. It's 79 degrees in Temecula today. I live north of San Diego. Hugs, Roz |
No Fair!!!

SNOW. FROST. ICE
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! Rxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |
Hi,
It's going to get around 60 today but we have another snow storm moving in over the weekend. I think we have missed one weekend in 9 of not getting snow. They are still shoveling themselves out in the mountains.
I'm happy with the 60 though right now. It's getting closer to spring so maybe it will soon be over. Ada |
60 degrees......
from one extreme to the other huh ada>? we are still very cold, but not as cold as the last two days........school was not closed today....
i think they close the schools here because so many of the children have to walk to school....that is way too cold for them to be out in....................... but like lisam mentioned, the buses probably won't start either....altho some kids have been terrorizing the school districts by slashing tires and letting the air out of the tires...............that is so stupid, as they will just have to make up those days anyway....they dont' have to make up snow/cold days................ |
Are they slashing tires just to keep from going to school? That's awlful. Some kids nowadays are little prisoners waiting to happen.
I think they they only have to make up a percentage of snow days they do miss in most areas. Ada |
Rain in warm cali
It is gonna rain on us in Cali today, and the next week solid. So says the weather peeps.
Still a nice 68' outside. Even when it was sooo nice I never ventured outside. I dont think I have went outside in 2 months. Hope that El Nino event passes so everyone can warmup in the midwest, and north east. Hang in there spring is right around the corner, unless it is gonna be like winter started..............delayed by a couple of months. Kinda seems like the weather patterns are changing everywhere. |
Aaaaaarrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhh!
AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!
Well another fun morning with frozen pipes! Some dork who thought they were doing something wonderful put our hot water heater into the porch room - on the outside wall, with plastic pipes running into the house - laying on cement blocks - at the corner of the house/porch (where they meet) and didnt even put a heater vent out in that room! We moved in, in late fall and hubby did not have time, energy, mobility or strength, nor could we find help to do something about it before winter and DEFINATELY couldnt afford to pay someone to fix it as W/Comp cut hubby off months ago - so no monies for that!!! This is time #4 with them froze up - Kids just loooooove bathing with heated water off the stove (we still have cold that runs as that piping is under the house and warm enough) and my electric bill is sky rocketing with the extra heater being out there - Especially when its -10,-20, - 8, etc....I love February!!! Just another fun thing that people dealing with workers comp have to deal with - no funds to pay for necessary needs, repairs, etc....Gotta love them! |
we are having a heat wave here..............
it has reached 14 degrees...............woo hooo....
hubby with rsd/ so sorry to hear that the pipes are freezing up on you..........and to hear of the w/c trials and tribulations..........we had to deal with it for a bit, but then the attorney got involved and things are going smoothly so far.............(knock on wood ) |
we had loads of snow today
it's horrible horrible HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I have frost bite. (sore legs, so no socks, went outside to threaten Dunk, and have frozen the iditios off... now looks like my feet are in the first stage of gangrene!! NICE!!!.....................................and you all know what pain goes like with that... so) if in doubt.... put honey and mag sulph onto them... so that's what the cares did (after yelling at me for being an idiot) Rxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |
Sooooo is everyones pipes still frozen ?? :D
Hotter than a firecracker in july here :p I am not looking forward to the cold though, as we got a week of high 80's last week and the breeze really hurt  |
