I'm sorry

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry I haven't responded to PM's or posts.

My boy has the flu. He's on the tail end of it and seemed to be doing well and now he has this "whole body" cough. His doctor's office is closed today and I hesitate taking him to the ER and exposing him to even more, unless it's absolutely necessary.

Anyhow, we're still struggling here and please don't think I don't care. I will respond just as soon as I get my little man all better.

In the meantime, please don't hestiate to PM another member of the team for urgent issues that don't feel they can't wait a day or two.

Love & Respect,

KD

Oh I hope he hasn't gotten bronchitis from the flu.

Take care of little guy.

I'm sorry to hear that your little man is sick. I hope he feels better soon!

how awful...

I hope you can find another ped, or at least an Urgent Care? If you don't want
to do the ER route.

Doesn't your doctor have an emergency # to use?

In the meantime, this may help:

Go in the bathroom with him and take a book, and close the door and
run the shower until all the hot water is gone. Sit in there about 1/2 hr
letting him breathe the concentrated steam. You don't have to put him
in the steam, or get wet. Just sit on a chair in there. If you have wallpaper in
there, prepare to say good-bye to it. (ours all fell off! )

Sometimes a small bit of mucous gets stuck in a bronchiole and triggers
excessive coughing. If the cough sounds like a bark of a dog or seal, you
should get medical help ASAP...go to the ER. This is croup and sometimes it
can swell the throat, and become a breathing emergency.
The steam however, can take care of much of the extreme cough reflex
temporarily, in non-emergency situations.

Some severe coughing in small children is due to asthma. So it is best
to find an urgent care, at least and perhaps have a breathing treatment if necessary.

Best of luck...hope this resolves soon for the little guy!

awww KimmyDawn.......give the lil guy a  from me and dont worry about anything here....we will all be fine and nothing is as important right now than you looking after him. (((((((((((((KD))))))))))))))))

Thanks, guys.

Yes, I do think he has asthmatic bronchitis from the flu. He's had it before from viruses and fought it off with use of an inhaler but no antibiotics.

MrsD, thank you. Yes, I've done the bathroom thing twice now...once last night and then again this a.m. when he woke up tight. He seems to only get really tight when he tries to sleep or is really active. Right now he's maintaining, and if he spikes any temp or coughing increases to where I think he's short of breath or something...to the ER we go. If not, I'm calling dr. first thing in the a.m.

They don't have anyone on call. He goes to a well child clinic here.

Kimmy Dawn...Keep this...

in mind! YOU HAVE NOTHING TO BE SORRY FOR! Yeah you have a job....and, you do it well...THANK YOU! Truly.
BUT...like most of us here...we also have a LIFE and other more important priorities! Just like YOU!!!!!

Certainly YOU have some sort of back-up and can forward stuff to another key person/mod for the duration...We need and appreciate you, BUT, your own life is and should be your priority....That and of your family!

If you don't, well, Doc John, time to set it up? Maybe this all goes with growing pains or something....

:Trapeze 2: So you're having to balance your lives...personal and professional...who here hasn't? If someone else doesn't get it now, they probly won't later?

Heaps of super hugs to you and yours for the 'duration' and after! - j

I'm kinda new about smilies...seemed like the rite one?
