Got my emergency GI appiontment!

Wednesday 9:30 am! its a 2 hour ride, so its up early for me. They had me in a September slot, and the MS clinic got involved and said "either you see her sooner, or we will admit her, and place her into a GI rotation." So, I got a call to come on down! amazing how that happens.

Will fill you in when I get back. Its all about my tummy, and is or isnt it an MS thang.

Debbie D 06-08-2010 09:35 AM

Good luck...hope you get some definitive answers...

NurseNancy 06-08-2010 04:00 PM

good luck dej.
i'll be looking for your update.
i hope they will help you and give you some answers.

Lady 06-08-2010 09:50 PM

Good luck Dej. :grouphug:

I hate those early appointments. I go to bed late and need to sleep late. I just had a 8 am appointment with my Endo. I had three hours sleep and my brain was not even working at half speed.

I hope they can give you some good answers, that make sense to you. Maybe something to help you sleep? I am a recliner napper.

I had a thought. When you do/did your "C" injections, do you mostly use your tummy? I never could do a tummy shot with "C". It does stay in the area for a long time, until it absorbs. I felt I was injecting right into my intestines.

Fingers crossed for you. :)

Loads of luck, dej, with your appointment! It's about time you got some definite answers and relief. You're right -- it's not WHAT you know, but WHO you know that gets the quick action!! Enjoy your ride through your beautiful state and we'll be waiting to hear some positive results! :) :) :)

anxiously awaiting your report.
are you ok?

Dejibo 06-09-2010 04:55 PM

well, its a 2 hour ride up and 2 hour ride back. so, it took me a while.

I was in the MD office for about 2 hours as well. He was thorough, and took a lot of time to really ferret out all the details. I didnt feel rushed, pushed, or like I was inconviencing anyone because I was an emergent appointment.

He feels that the whole thing IS MS related, and that the ANS tests will bear that out, but he also feels that this is going to be a pancreas thing as well as a tummy thing. He ordered alot of blood work. Its rare since I am not a drinker, but there is a heriditary thing that can happen. He took blood to confirm his suspicions.

I have an MRI for July 8 to see my tummy, and pancreas, and we will know more from there. I cant do CT scan dye so they decided that an MRI would be better for me.

Still more questions than answers, but I like this guy. He said he loves puzzles, and will help me get to the bottom of this. He wanted me OFF the reglan, as I already have a neuro disorder, and reglan can exacerbate stuff like MS and so on. He said he isnt worried, if I need my meds, take um! if my tummy gets really slow, ramp up on the miralax. If one end gets going,it will force the other to move.

So...its a nice start. I hate this stupid disease! it has ruined more things than I can count. :(

Twinkletoes 06-09-2010 07:43 PM

Hey Dej, glad you were able to get in to see the doc. And happy to know that he is willing to figure out your "puzzle!" Feel better.

Debbie D 06-10-2010 10:12 AM

Thanks for the update, Dej...sounds like you found a winner in the doc...
I sure hope that he can figure it out and get a treatment plan going so that you feel better...:hug:

Dejibo 06-10-2010 11:10 AM

The doc called me personally today, to tell me about my blood work that did come back in. Since things are calmer now than they have been, he is chosing to not push the MRI up faster, unless I am back in pain, or have a fever. He took his time again on the phone with me, and really seemed interested in what I had to say.

I like this guy! I hope he finds out what is wrong with my tummy. :)

karousel 06-10-2010 08:44 PM

I am so glad you really like this doctor. It's great he took the time to talk to you and didn't rush you - sometimes that is the best when you don't know the answers and are waiting for them.

Lady 06-10-2010 09:13 PM

Dej, I'm glad you found a keeper. :) They're hard to find. I bet you are curious yourself to what this is and why? I pray it is not a major thing, but one that can be treated easily.

We never know what's in our DNA from many past generations and why we are the ones to get these ailments. So maybe he is on the right track in finding a cause for your pain and fever. You need answers ASAP.

Good luck to you with your testing.

Jodylee 06-11-2010 11:29 AM

Good luck, Dej :)! I'm really glad you found a doc who will take the time to help you. It is amazing how hard it is to find decent doctors.

jeep4wd 06-11-2010 12:16 PM

Waiting for news with you............. feel better!

NurseNancy 06-12-2010 04:09 PM

i'm so glad you found such a good dr.
i'm sending good well wishes your way.

EddieF 06-12-2010 04:26 PM

Dej what was/is the problem/symptoms? And can you post what was checked with results/levels? Im no Dr but love to hear bloodwork #'s to make note of. I have a colostomy. Can see the hole & ostomy barrier in my PET scan pic. Also how ive been sliced down the belly 2x. 1 for spleen rupture, 1 for idiot surgeon that created colostomy non laparoscopic.

Everyone please allways get bloodwork copies not "I was low or high"! :)
Hope you find and FIX the problem Dej. Good luck.

Dejibo 06-12-2010 05:38 PM

my blood work flucuates all over the place. My amalyaze got to 900 then back to 50 then back to 500. My lipase goes from 29 to 290 then back to the middle. My billiruben keeps jumping and then going back to normal. No one can figure it out. I have belly pain that is over the lower ridge of my liver, and pancreas. My stomach works today, and then completely stops tomorrow. Today I can eat, tomorrow I am throwing up. its bizarre.

I am being really careful. Keeping records, and seeking 3rd and 4th opinions. I am not letting anyone get scalpel happy with me.

EddieF 06-12-2010 07:21 PM

Sorry. Only thing I know about pancrease is it produces insulin therefore people with pancreatic cancer probably have a problem with glucose/diabetes. Said you cant have CT dye, is PET dye the same? I don't know (thankfully) what bloodwork checks cancer but I imagine you've been tested.

A excellent laparoscopic surgeon is in NY and Monday I have to ask if I can email a pic of my CT cause I see a quarter size mark on my large accending? colon but anyway..do NOT have anyone cut you to take a look. Im not. Im hoping he can make 3 tiny holes and blow my belly up with air and take a look that way if needed. How bout you do that?

Dejibo 06-13-2010 07:07 AM

I have ZERO plans to let someone take a "peek" unless they can prove to me its quite nessecary. I have had several surgeries on my tummy in the past and have alot of scar tissue, and many surgeons tell me how messed up that scar tissue would make things. They would not be able to do a peek hole surgery, they would need a big girl cut.so, till then...i say NO!

the pancreas is a great organ, but unlike the liver, it cant be replaced. The liver can be 70% gone and still work without you showing signs of distress. The liver can be replaced. The pancreas cant.

btw, I dont have diabetes, but show many weird things that happen only to diabetics. like the stomach stopping, and things like that. My blood sugars were monitored for a month solid and A1C was done. I am great in that department.

Thanks for all the advice. I promise I am not being rushed thru anything. I am making them explain themselves tome.
