Weak/Very Sick
Is it normal to feel extremely weak, sick after eating/drinking anything, trembling, so weak unable to do absolutely anything, unable to even think/process a grocery list?
I need to write a grocery list and have not been able to do it. Feel so severly sick no clue how I'm going to get groceries. No idea. Need to get them for tonight/afternoon. Do not feel well at all. Very scared. Just want to avoid food period. Choke on everything. Coffeegirl |
With your symptoms I would be contacting my physician. I have Crohn's, and those symptoms spell blockage or stricture. I am not sure what MS can do to the digestive system, but I am sure it can affect it.
That said, there is a nasty flu/virus going around a bit early this season . . . |
I agree, please speak to your MD. Choking on, or not being able to swallow food can be an MS sign, and dangerous. Please be checked.

How are you feeling today, Coffeegirl? Check in when you have time and let us know. Hope you're better.

gosh, i agree about going to the dr. you should get an appt asap since your sx's sound severe.
if it's the wk/e call your dr's office and speak to any dr even if on call. i hope your condition improves. please let us know. |
Coffeegirl, wondering how you're feeling....any better? I hope so..:hug::hug:

Thank you gals for your advice and support. This weekend I wasn't able to go to the doctors office for the weird sypmtoms- we had an annual camping trip. Anymore, I am just learning to live with things so my family doesn't have to suffer with my issues. It is bad enough to feel physically sick- but then realizing how it effects your family- guilt, anger, frustration and sadness. I feel like I'm robbing them of fun and life. It isn't fair.
Physically- Saturday morning I woke up stumbly and had vertigo but after I had walked around for a while I felt good. The weather was gorgeous. I thought- Yeah! Finally I know it was going to be a good day. Just like more days where I wake up like that it only lasted til about 3:00 pm- Then the weakness/fatigue and severe vertigo hit me like a blast into a brick wall. ugh!! We were camping with friends- and I wanted so much just to be a apart of the group- having fun and watching the football game. But instead, I had to go to the camper and lay down on a gorgeous day. Very angry at my body. Sad that my DH and boys didn't get to spend time with me like we wanted. So I would go outside every hour for about 15 minutes and then go back and lay down. Put on a happy face and make it 'look okay'- when I felt absolutely horrible. One point in the afternoon I had a really tough time walking- red flag should have been a huge warning sign- stop! no- I didn't pay attention to it. Sunday: Picking up garbage, etc. and packing things up to go home normally I help with- but not yesterday- too weak. DH told me 'Do not do anything!'- But I felt so guilty and hurt seeing him stressed out doing all of the work. Our boys weren't listening and helping him like they were suppose to. There was a bag of garbage that needed to be taken to the dumpster. I just wanted to help. DH told me to leave it alone and the boys could do it- they never did. I could see the stress and frustration my DH was going thru- and it made me feel even worse. I just felt so bad for him. So what did I do? Picked up the garbage bag and tried to take it to the dumpster- not very far from where we were camped at. My walk- not good- stumbling- and out of it. Should have listened to DH. What happened? I stumbled over my own feet, tripped and then rt foot landed on the curb- fell; big fall. NOT good at all. Wore flip flops. Feet all scraped up, fingers scraped up and tore a huge chunk out of my thumb. Then my rt foot immediately started to swell. Hurt really bad. Not able to even put it on the ground without intense pain. Stupid!!!! Hubby cleaned me all up- which took a long time- making the boys late for their first/big game of the year- against their rival team- which due to my foot hurting so bad and unable to walk on it- I missed. grrr!! DH after game took me to the doctor. x-ray: luckily- sprained foot. We were really relieved. However I just felt so bad for DH. He didn't need me more incompent and inable to help him due even less than I already am doing. Right now we don't know if it is med/physical related with my symptoms. All I know it is tearing up my DH in all shape/form. I love him so much and it hurts more than anything seeing him stressed out due to me being a mess. I am the one that needs to take care of him/the boys/the home; not vise versa. He already does enough himself at his job at work. And he helps cook when he gets home if I'm really sick. He is a wonderful hubby and always has been. Sorry for writing so much. The letter to the Mayo Clinic should get there sometime this week. Hopefully I will know by Friday if I actually get an appointment before 6 months from now; better than the other speciality clinic. Thank you so much for your support and help when I'm clueless with all this stuff. Everything that is going on seems to be MS but I cannot dx myself- DH reminds me of this all the time. But ironically there are many reasons why I would have it. It is just frustrating. I just want an answer so I can get treated and move on with my life. Not that it would make things better- it would just be a relief knowing what we are dealing with. Hugs to all of you. Everyone here is just wonderful!! Thank you for helping me while I'm in limboland of no-mands land in wonderland!? coffeegirl |
Hey Coffeegirl. You might need to just say (bleep) it, this is how it is and worrying isn't going to help my MS. Actually might make it worse! This is what your delt so how about giving Ampyra a try for strength? On the cheap you can take testosterone (I do) and that'll surely get your mind, memory, muscles, personal things ect going again. Get your level checked. While you're at it, get estrogens & progesterone checked. Hope that helps.

Time to have a talk with the boys that when momma is down, its THEIR TURN to be UP! When momma doesnt feel good this means extra work for all, and they are not going to be excluded.
I agree with the other posters, you MUST accept your limits and know that if you push past them, it makes things worse, not better. This disease isnt a matter of having more will power, its a matter of adjusting to how life is now. There will be days when you can carry two full loads, and days when you cant carry 10% of your own load. You wont know which day it is till you wake up in it. If you can get your family on board, it will take a great deal of pressure off you. If you were a diabetic, you wouldnt expect to be able to function without your insulin. If you were on O2 they wouldnt expect you to work without the O2 bottle. MS demands rest breaks, and demands that somedays your little body just isnt going to be able to handle a full load. I hope you heal quickly. |
What she said! :I-Agree: :Good-Post:

Well, you know what I said already. But listen, if DH isn't complaining and is stressed because of the boys, well heck, it could be because of that and that alone. And even if he is stressed doing it all, he'll be fine. The more you try to help when he says stop and rest, the more stressed he'll get if you don't listen. Trust me on this. Save the "helping" for when you feel good. Although I probably would have given you a spanking for trying to take that garbage when he told you to leave it. hahahaha

Dejabo/Kitty-Thank you for telling me that being a mom means more than just doing everything. Sometimes facing reality and the facts is more than one wants but it is what is best for everyone. I was just thinking about the consequence (new one) we give our boys if they don't behave- writing x-amount of sentences for why they did not behave. For not helping when needed- would be very effective. It would make them think and understand.
Eddie- Thank you for the info. I do take estrogen due to a hysterectomy and at one time took an hrt with both estrogen/progesterone. When on the old hrt I never felt well which is why they took me off of it. The doctor has tested my hormone levels since my sister has hormone/thyroid problems- so I get them tested once/twice a year. It does make you think how hormones really can effect a person though. Sandy- You crack me up!! No- I don't want to be spanked!! What you said in your post made a lot of sense. Hearing it from a different perspective makes one think more about their actions and how they effect others. I'm glad you told me what needed to be said- definitely what I needed to hear! ;) Thank you everyone. I'm glad to be here- regardless if I belong here or not. You all are very helpful and supportive. Very grateful for you words of wisdom! Hugs Coffeegirl |
You belong here

Coffeegirl, nearly everyone here knows exactly what you are talking about. No matter what name they eventually put on your disease, symptoms like ours are difficult to cope with. It really does help to communicate with people who have similar symptoms.

my boy was tough to raise. My daughter just got it. When mom didnt feel well, it was time to raise the bar and step up. The boy was all "what?!" he had the attitude that I owed him, and saw me weak and chose those moments to act out or act up. I was firm, fair and consistant with him, and I was able to bring him around the corner. Boys are slower to understand and slower to figure it out as teenagers. When they become young men, they catch up, but as teenagers, or preteens, they are hard! Girls start off easier, and as they hit late teens, and young women they become harder.
Hang in there, being a mother is the hardest job you will ever love. Make some house rules, just like school rules, and post them on the refrig. I also had a schedule on the fridge. It was mandatory that home work be done at the table! and be finished before video games. I allowed play time after school, but as soon as dinner was done, it was time to work on school projects. behaving badly netted you extra work projects, or chores. Boys need a leader, even if you are quiet about it. If you are serious, they will know it, and fall in line. Bless you. its hard work when you feel fantastic. |

I'm so sad to hear you're not doing well Julie!! :( This last weekend sounds like it was a pretty rough one for you! It brought tears to my eyes to read that thread because you sound like me in January of last year before I had my diagnosis. The stumbling/staggering/choking/confusion/vision problems. good grief. Im so sorry my dear! But your hubby is such a great guy!!!! and your kids! They understand I promise, especially that hubby of yours! I'm sure it really affects him to see you so discombobulated (I hope that word doesn't offend you, I find that that is the best way to describe myself on my really bad MS days) but he loves you and he's going to take care of you so don't feel bad when he does! That's what he's there for! :) I tell my boyfriend that he is my functioning right side because when my right side turns into a huge sand bag he gets on my right side and walks holding me up so people can't even tell! lol He loves you dearly and so do your kids! You support them, they support you! :) <3 Hopefully you can get into the Mayo ASAP and out of limboland! I hope things are starting to look up for you! Be Well! -Ana D |
Thank you everyone for accepting me here and for all your support. Your words of wisdom are beyond grateful for me in many ways. All of you are just blessings!
Marion/Sandy: Thank you!! Millions for telling me that it is okay. Dejibo: You are a great mom. Thank you for giving me some insight about parenting with health issues. I need a little direction- as you can see. I'm going to be less cranky and more assertive with consequences (writing sentences does the trick with my boys)- they absolutely hate it. It is worse than having something taken away from them. Ana: You are so sweet! I laughed at the word you used. It was very fitting and appropriate! So very true. Hugs to all of you!!:grouphug: Coffeegirl |
