I am going to start cleaning....

I am going to start cleaning my house, starting today.
The house is overwhleming and if we are to ever think of having company again, I would be embarressed.
It is a mess and I can't stand it any more.
With 3 cats there are fur/dust bunnies taking on a whole other life and the cats are starting to sneeze...not good!
Think I will use a swifter on the floors....and maybe sweep the carpets.
My hair is longer these days and it seems like I shed alot....I am always finding hair in/on my counters in the bath room...it drives me nuts. I have heard that we can lose 100 strands a day! that is crazy!

bizi 09-29-2010 12:57 PM

I cleaned for 2 hours!!!!
floors done for the most part, scrubbed up the coffee stains on the hard floors even.(lots of cat hair gone now!)
did some light dusting too. and I beat the floor rugs What a mess!
now to use some pine sall in the kitchen to make it noticable that I cleaned some...see if jeff notices!
having to take a shower now! felt good to do some work!!!!!!:)

Nice Work, Bizi!
 :D
Did the cats stay out of your way? Go hide?
It's great to have a clean place.

bizi 09-30-2010 10:22 AM

hattie was interested in the swifter but kept away for the most part.
yes jeff did notice so that made me happy.
he is off today and tomorrow, went with some collegues to go fishing and spend the night at a cabin at toledo bend which is a 3 hour drive from here. they will have fun. I don't have any clients again today....will have to start doing something about that if it continues....:o
making some coffee, thinking about wiping down window sills ledges that the cats hang out on they are 4 inches wide so we have nick nacks on them ,blue glass bottles and other things that have survived the cats going after lizards and bugs on the outside of the glass.
Some of the interior windows on our french doors, back doors need to be washed and then the refridgerator is in desperate need of attention, it has been years since that has been cleaned....
bizi

bizi 09-30-2010 01:56 PM

well the window ledges got done and three outside doors, things are taking much longer because they were so dirty....:o
a girl friend told me that cleaning my house is good luck!
I need all of the good fortune that I can get....business has been slow, thus the cleaning.....

OhKay 09-30-2010 02:23 PM

I have 3 cats too, Bizi.
Buddy and Rocky LOVE to watch me clean the bathroom... it's like they're supervising. Dottie likes to watch me clean the litter boxes, Buddy won't stay away from my swifter, and Rocky rubs all over the floors after I vacuum. They all get in my way when I change the bed sheets.

Right now I have cat hair everywhere. I need to vacuum, but I just don't have that motivation that you've had lately.

I do love it when everything's clean. There's a sense of accomplishment and I feel more organized.

It sounds like you did a lot of work!
I hope you can pick up more clients soon.

Dear Bizi,
Are you home alone tonight?

Yes, according to Fung shui, cleaning your house brings good chi.

M.

bizi 09-30-2010 08:58 PM

yes I am home alone tonight and am not drinking....sipping on some diet tonic water.I have decided that I am not going to drink after 9pm on work nights...and I just got home from the gym had a good long work out and I have work tomorrow! So diet tonic water for me! I love it really!
IT was such a struggle making that decision on the way home from the gym.....Drinking is not healthy for me and I am trying to be healthier.
I think I am running a bit hypo....while cleaning today I was outside in my pj's(a very short night shirt) cleaning off the recycling and trash containers!
I have some paper work to keep me busy and will be checking on here off and on if anybody wants to chat.

Dear Bizi,
I understand about cleaning outside without feeling the need to get dressed for it. I'm happy for you that you got something done.
It is great that you went to the gym -- it probably helps keep mood level. Is that right?

Have a good day tomorrow.
M.

bizi 10-01-2010 10:09 AM

thank you mari!
going to the gym is very productive for me and gives me a routine something to do and is good for me.
That seems to be om only hobby these days and when I can't go it upsets me.
I have been reading the twilight books now for a while, am not tired of them so I started to read them again. :)

bizi 10-03-2010 04:21 PM

a bit more cleaning today.
Hand washed a very old embroidaryed table runner that I use under a row of books on the book case. the cats use this often and it was filthy!
so removed all of the books hand washed and ironed the runner and cleaned off the window sill and put all of the nick knacks back up....and the books back of course!
Washed the refridgerator took everything out even all of the side doors, amazing how dirty the condiments can make your drawers....
well it had been years since I cleaned them out.....
anyway it is done...
time to go to the gym.
again it feels good paying attnetion to my house.
I am pretending that we are going to have to sell the house so am looking at things from that perspective.

Bizi,
You can even take pictures as if you were going to sell the house.

Your cats are probably happy that they have a clean place now. :)

Doing the fridge is a big job. I usually do a shelf at a time and then do the next shelf at a later time.

Enjoy the gym!!

Dear Bizi

i am imagining a Martha Stewart-like sparkling clean house by now!!! :D

wow you are doing a lot of work. you know those are calories too.... ;)

how is Jeff responding? does he notice the changes?

~ waves ~

bizi 10-04-2010 09:32 AM

yes the biggest thing that he noticed was the refridgerator...he commented twice on it looking so clean! He had an accident with the french vanilla creamer, he was shaking it up and the top exploded open so creamer went every where. he did a good job cleaning it up...though I kept finding bits and pieces here and there...and the floor took a lot of scrubing on my part to stop being sticky.
The three lasrge book shelves in the family room have a tone of knick nacks on them, they need dusting/cleaning but that is a big job....
I still have not done any windows I think I will do some tonight.
We are going to have the shed repaired in the back yard it has old termite and rotten wood damage, we are going to have the door widen and put in a new door. The weather is finally cooling, need to get outside and work in the flower beds, they have been ignored all summer, so the weeds are running rampant! looks terrible.

Dear Bizi,
It's great to have a clean refrigerator.
This is almost a good time of year to do yard work. Here the weather is mid-80's in the day with rain some days.
The flowers will be happy to see you.

In mid August the cleaning lady and I took everything out of kitchen cupboards and cabinets and started over. We have a small space but hubby had been buying frying pans and such and sticking them everywhere he could find -- bed room, laundry closet, . ..

Every item found a place. Things that did not have a place, left on her pick up truck. It was great.

I threw away mismatched sets of dishes (had bought at discount stores) that did not stack nicely.
So we went to Penneys and bought a cheap set of stackable dishes with service for 4 (four). We are only two people so that is plenty. If we have a bigger party at some point in the future, I will buy paper plates.

Hubby is still not used to where things go, but he is gets the general idea. I have not noticed him buying any more "back up" stuff.

M.

bizi 10-05-2010 09:33 AM

I am sure mari that you felt such a relief to have your kitchen organized with fewer stuff. and glad that hubby has not ordered any more stuff to!
That was a big job!
happy for you!

the only window that got cleaned yesterday was the inside glass of my car which was filthy!
now it sparkles!

Dear Bizi,
I guess it is cooling off. (too hot to clean cars in the summer :D) Enjoy cleaning and feeling productive.

Dear Bizi

i hope you won't take this wrong. do you think you are still running hypo? could this cleaning spree be a manifestation...

have you ever got into a cleaning spree like this when you were not hypo?

certainly the cleaning is productive (even if it's hypo it's still useful/adaptive behavior). i am only concerned about you being self-aware... to avoid an escalation if this is mood-related.

meanwhile keep up the good work! ;)

Actually this may sound a bit odd...I won't say crazy...
but I think that I am coming down.
Using more judgement about the drinking issues.
sticking with that for the most part.
actually able to focus on what really needs to be done...have been very unattentive to my house, like jeff doesn't care so why should I?
But I am reclaiming my house.
It really would be nice to have some company over and not be embarressed!
I am really happy about the inside of my car glass being clean it sparkles!!!!! I try to keep my little car as clean as possible, part of my image thing and business.
I have not even begun to tackle the yard....there are weeds in flower beds that are 3 feet tall!
I might get a couple windows washed before going to the gym. Inside french 9 paneled glass doors.
This thread is helping me...
thank you for asking about the hypo....I drank way too much coffee today and really wanted a beer tonight to wind down. But I did not because I am going to the gym,( no drink and drive) none tonight because I am driving and because it will be 10pm by the time I get home.(no drink after 9pm on a work night).
thanks for worrying about me.
((((HUGS))))

Dear Bizi,
I can see how taking care of your place is partly about being in control. :)
I'm impressed about your trips to the gym. :)
M.

bizi 10-06-2010 09:38 AM

Jeff and I talked a great deal last night, he said he started playing the classical guitar again, (what a relief!!!!) he had told me he did not like it any more in may, he said he wanted to have fun so that is what he did over the summer he had fun and was productive too. I never want to be the nagging wife. So we calmly talked about his focus and what he was doing. Also about some things that needed to be done around the house. We need to have our electrical wiring partially changed from aluminum to copper at all of the electrical outlets, this is a very big job, we need to have this work done and we have avoided the conversation.
Who knows how much money this will cost. A persons house caught on fire several blocks down from us for this exact reason.
It needs to be done. Jeff is going to talk to his peers and get the name of a relieable electrician. If we were to have to sell the house, departmental shut down or if jeff doesn't get tenure, I don't think it would pass inspection this way. Although it was mentioned to us at our initial inspection, we were not smart enough to know that this was a big problem and we should have adressed the issue 8 years ago when we bought the house.
anyway....
It was good that we talked.
bizi
I did get some windows washed after the gym....just a few small ones on an inside door.

Mari 10-07-2010 12:27 AM

Dear Bizi,
These are good talks.
It is marvelous to address safety issues. We just got a new front door because any bit of wind could have knocked in.

Dear Bizi

sounds like you and Jeff have good communication... good teamwork. :)

good job on the windows (AFTER GYM!!! what a great replacement for beer! :D)

may be you could pot some of those 3 foot weeds and sell'em as robust, easy-maintenance, landscaping "filler" foliage! ;):D
