Fed-Ex Failure
OK, so this falls into the category of company rules need to change.
I checked the tracking number for a package I was expecting yesterday morning and the FEDEX website said it was on the truck for delivery at 7:10 am. My cousin used to work for them and he told me that each driver was required to deliver each and every package before going home for the day. SO, either this guy was new, had mechanical problems on his truck, or had WAY too many deliveries to make. I have a gate outside my house separating my back yard from my front yard. My front door is on the side of the house, the gate is in front of the door. (I will include a pic later if this is confusing). The gate has a lock on it. I expected the package to be left outside the gate. (as they always do) when we are not home. WELL, this package which happened to be fragile was THROWN over the gate to get close to my front door and left broken for us when we got up. SO, I am going to call FEDEX to ask WHAT HAPPENED? Fail oh, by the way, it was delivered at 10:30 pm. |
This reminds me of the opening scene in Ace Ventura Pet Detective where the delivery guy was kicking the package down the road.
Was the package marked "fragile" or "breakable - handle with care"? I'm wondering if he was just so tired and aggravated by 10:30 PM that he just didn't care. Maybe he quit! Was the package insured? I know.....none of that excuses the total disregard for the contents of your package. I would definitely call them and let them know what happened. Customer service isn't what it used to be. |
I don't like FedEx....either!
Once they delivered a package addressed correctly to my son at this house....to another person across town, with the same name, but different address. We never figured how that came about when the correct address was on the package! When it never arrived here, he had the shipping company send another no charge. About a month passed and a woman came to our door with that fated FedEx package...saying it came to her home while they were on vacation. The housesitter, just put it in their held mail, and she found it a month later and delivered it to us... We were both dumbfounded, because the names were the same and they lived about 2miles S. of us. But our address was clearly on it, but delivered to the identical name at another location! That is FedEx for you! We've other stories, but they are more mundane! Never had a problem with UPS ! |
Mrs. D.....how nice that there are still honest people in the world! I'm surprised she took the time to deliver it. :)

Yes, it was an amazing thing. Our community is pretty small, and friendly...that way.
It was a small package, guitar strings in fact. So the dollar value was small too. What was really strange is that both my son and HER son were not the owners of the address either. So looking up his name would not even give an address thru the software they use. :Dunno: I used to sub at a home infusion place, and we used FedEx there exclusively, so I know what the computer link up looks like from the shipping end. One enters the name and address and then the shipping label is printed. They would pic up once a day, and scan in the labels with the bar codes into their doohicky little hand held computer. Until this weird situation happened we didn't even know there was a person with my son's same name so close by! |
expected a christmas package one year, very late in the season, and a box showed up on the door when we arrived home. #1 the box was in horrible shape, and clearly had been knocked around. I opened it to find it was a box full of Ohama steaks! from QVC. There were a truck load of meaty good things in there. I rolled over the box, and saw the smudgy address was still readable. I called QVC to say "we got someones box" and they said "keep it" they were going to replace the box with a new one for the intended owners. It was Christmas eve! How are they going to get another box packaged and to the folks? The operator told me it would be after the holiday, but things happen. We drove the box 4 blocks over and thru the woods to the address on the box and found a very worried, tearful woman grateful to have a box of steaks to feed her house full of out of town guests.
Got home to find still no box for us, so I called the company who has it marked as delivered. Called FedEx who told us it was delivered. We asked where?! They spouted off some weird address not even close to our own. We got in the car and drove to the address and asked the woman at the door if she got a box that didnt belong to her. At first she said no, and was wild eyed. I gave her my drivers license that showed my name and address on it, and begged her to please consider giving us our box that had been mistakenly left with her. It was clear to me that since we called QVC and were told to keep it, that she intended the same thing. She hesitated, and then her hubby came to the door and said "for god sake Ann, give them their stuff!" and he went to fetch our box. it was the last christmas my husbands grandmother was alive, and the gift was a special treat from her home town in Italy, and other fancy goodies were packed in the box from an italian store. The box was worth a lot of money. We could have never gotten replacements for what was in the box by the time she passed. FedEx was Unhelpful, dismissive and wanted us to sympathize with how busy they are at this time of year, and had we ordered early we would have time to get such things corrected before the holiday arrived. I avoid using them unless I have to. |
couple of years ago, my boyfriend sent his mom a turducken (a turkey with a duck inside it with a chicken inside the duck...supposed to be very good) along with some other game meats. (boyfriend works for a hunting supply store)
His mom lives on the West Coast, and from what he's told me, her house is out in the hills of somewhere out there (cant remember where exactly she lives) and she doesnt have many neighbors. If I'm remembering correctly, she found the packaging all over the yard. She has two or three dogs and a rather large cat. (the cat is as big as one of the dogs from what I've heard) Apparently the delivery guy, instead of bringing the package to the door (she was home) and delivering it. He tossed it over the fence by the driveway. I guess the dogs (or most likely the cat) had a nice lunch that day. Boyfriend was ticked because he doesnt have that much money and spent a bunch on his mom that year, and I dont think the shipping company or the place he bought the gifts from would reimburse him for the loss of the package to the animals. |

my handicapped mom ordered a handmade quilt from a woman who sews them. weeks went by, and no quilt. she called the woman who assured her it was sent. She called fedex who said it was marked as delivered. She asked them to recheck the address. They spouted her address, but there was a note that the package was left outside on X date at X time. My upset and foul mouthed mom went off on the guy saying she was HOME for 3 dang days waiting for that quilt, and now some redneck probably stole it from her YARD because fedex didnt want to walk up the handicap ramp? She wandered outside to examine the yard expecting to find no trace of it. It was on top of her SUV. on TOP! not on the hood, on the roof! It had rained several days since then and the colors all ran on the quilt. FedEx said there was nothing they could do unless she wanted to file and insurance claim and would then have to provide proof of the quilts value, worth and materials. No resolution was ever had.

I'm still trying to figure our how a package coming 20 miles from my house had to go to Memphis TN, then Indiana then back to Illinois. The answer I got? "Oh, well we do to it that way because there isn't a hub close to you." I replied, "Yes, in Peoria." They calmly said "This is how we do things." I said "Thank you but your wasting money and gas." lol It took three days to get that package 20 miles away.

I love UPS. I dislike Fed Ex (yuck poohy)!
|
I just ordered a mop. (came UPS) and it went from NY to ohio to florida and then to boston and then to NH. Why cant it just go from NY to NH? How many clearing houses must it hit? no wonder fuel costs are so high for shipping, they send it to more airports than I have ever used for my own vacation!
