What's on your plate...?
Actually quite a bit. Took my car over to have one of the rear, almost flat tires worked on...I'd hate to leave it at the airport and come home to a really flat tire...then Barbo would have to come rescue us ;)
Mr.Alffe took Cassie up to the kennel and she was excited to see all the dogs...remember that she had lived in a cage prior to our adopting her so it's a "devils you know" kind of a thing with her. I trimmed my hair this morning and will get a lecture from my hair dresser next time I go in...she knows how to repair the damage I always do. :o I hope Tabby will stay safe and come back and talk to us. I did notice that our BJ posted on the BP forum so she would use some prayers and reminders of our love. And I want to remind you about partying in the treehouse when you think the cat is away....she isn't!! :D :D |
I spent the morning and lunch hour trying not to get blown off the road! Holy cow!!! This wind is ferocious!
|
....looking around... what tree house.... looking around....
maybe we can have a poll while you're gone? ;) I'm working on a friend's photo/music dvd - its her 65th on Friday... um... I think I wrote this on the last plate thread... well, I'm still working on it... lol... art takes time ... I'm planning a Grand-Addy play date for all day tomorrow!! I'm doing a lot of stuff and have a list... all of it computer related... time consuming so I have the tv on for entertainment... watching the View right now... boy those women yell a lot! ttfn xoxox to the cat |
My plate just got alot cleaner. Got a call saying im not needed later tonight at my second job, sooooo that means I have some free time after work, (maybe dinner and a nap?) until a meeting at 8pm.
Stil trying to figure out the future though in the meantime in between this and that. It feels very "off" being in that state of transition, perhaps moving somewhere in the next 6 months but not knowing where yet, waiting back to hear if i get a job. . . Alffe when do you leave? the treehouse needs sprucing up. |
:D too funny abou the poll Addy and the treehouse was clean when I left!
Barbo, you won't believe what we did....went off without the Carmen tickets!!! Now Barbo can really appreciate the significance of that. Mr.Alffe was raised to that opera music...his mothers favorite and he always wanted to see it live. Five years ago, when I got the "new & improved nose" we came over here with tickets to see it (I wore a veil...I digress):D Anyway, lounging in our hotel room Mr.Alffe said ck the tickets and see what time it starts.....it was over!! They were matinee tickets!!! :D Ok...off to Fox & Obels...my favorite store to get supplies. Son in law coming for the evening. Wish, have I completely confused you now??? Abbie can't wait to read about the bullying. Thank you. BMW....:D :D Doody....I'll deal with you later. You'all behave!!! |
Ruh roh, am I going to get my ears pulled???
Gosh, aren't you gone YET!? LOL! Oh wait, you said you were taking along a computer. However will we be able to party in your absence? That sucks about the tickets! I am so jealous thinking of you in Chicago! I love that place! Loved going there with you! You and Mr. Alffe have tons and tons of fun. |

We are having the best time..it's still dark and we're staying on the 18th floor of a downtown condo..the lights are incredible..top of the Wrigley Bldg is pink (Breast Cancer awareness) ..floor to ceiling glass really does give you a birdseye view of this city. It does creak occasionally so I assume there is still a lot of wind (course it's always been called the windy city..) At home all I need to do is look outside at the pine trees swaying and can judge how great the wind is...I'll wait until it gets light and see how people are dressed.
My sister-inlaw (her condo, she's away) recommended a new breakfast place very near here..Yolk http://yolk-online.com/..so we'll wander over there when Mr.Alffe gets up. Have a great day...:grouphug: |
LOL re: evergreens or buildings swaying in the wind ... I think I'll go with the tees ;)
I'm waiting on a repair person today... so stuck keeping the place somewhat tidy when I'd rather be doing my favourite thing... making a music/photo video. I'm considering sharing my "work" to make a few $. My part time job depends solely on the weather because its at the beach so my hours are cut. I recently made it all the way to the last two people in an interview process... made me learn I'm glad I didn't get the job... as I much prefer this less stressful life. I seriously think this time was given to me to work on a plan... seeing friends tonight to celebrate a birthday! xo |
Loved Carmen & the Lyric Opera House...walked back..needed to get some exercise after sitting so long..it was 3 hrs & 45 mins..every seat filled. but I shouldn't have worried about staying awake..I was enthralled.
Addy I hope you are having fun at the birthday celebration. It's that time of year...everybody is making soup and dressing in warmer clothes...Barbo, I do want that recipe. Doody, so glad you liked the pictures..we are going back to the bakery in the morning to get some great desserts for tomorrow night when my other sister & her dh meet us for dinner out, and back here for dessert. I don't cook when I'm on vacation...I love to cook but not when I'm traveling. Wish...how are you today? Wondering the same thing about Lonely1 and Blue .....and smae..and BJ Hugs for the room...:grouphug: |
My daughter stayed with me last night, it was nice. She had to work this morning so just spent the night here. When she gets off at noon I will take her home.
Otherwise, I don't plan on too much. I need to make a home visit to someone in Des Moines who wants to adopt a lovely little guy from Hearts United for Animals. The home visit is the last in the approval. However, yesterday I came home at lunch. I just don't feel so well and never know if it's the darned fibro or not. You can get flu symptoms with fibro too, so I don't know. Sore throat etc., and that's how I feel. Anyway, here's the cute little weiner she wants to adopt...Moose... http://hua.org/component/animals/?id=278 Ms. Alffe, it all sounds like so much fun! Those pictures are stunning, especially from the apartment window. 18th floor? ACK!!!! Does the building sway in that Chicago wind??? |
I'm sorry you don't feel well Doody. I bet it's the dang changes in the weather that effects so many of us. It's supposed to go up to 60 today and it's beautiful outside..we just got back from taking the bus up to Ukrainevillage and that incredible bakery...http://www.yelp.com/biz/la-farine-bakery-chicago
Bought goodies for tonight and got another hug from my great niece.. Mr.Alffe walked over to the movie theatre to get tickets for that show about FB that he "thinks" he wants to see. So many people out walking their dogs...we miss Cassie and will be glad to see her tomorrow evening. |
what happens on a good day
my dad and i sang who let the dogs out to the tune of ride of the valkyries and accompanied ourselves on banjo and slide guitar. the dog voice was more of a halloween howl than a woof woof woof woof.

We had such a good time with my sister & her husband last night. At the Irish pub, all the waiters and mgrs. were in costume...I thought of doody as one guy looked just like Johny Dep (sp?) in costume from Alice thru the Looking glass. :D some of us ordered "small plates" and shared...good way to do this as they were anything but small..brother inlaw was "tickled pink" that I brought a bottle of Layer Cake wine to share before going out.
And he went on a small rant..:o..about the pink top of the Wriggly Bldg..said if they would put all the $$ spent on breast cancer awareness month into research, we'd be alot closer to finding a cure. Mr.Alffe said he was just jealous because there isn't a prostate cancer awareness month...:D.. Thinking about our Cassie missing her scrambled eggs & bacon w/her breakfast this Sunday morning..she'll be happy to be sleeping in her/our own bed tonight.. Looking out the windows here..lots of people walking their dogs..we noticed the same thing in NYC..obviously you can live in a big city and still have a dog. |

Johnny Depp? YUM! Well, I'm going to DSM this afternoon. 2:30 I have an appointment to check out the person who wants to adopt Moose. Still have a nasty sore throat and all globbed up. |
hmm, well today, I take the monster to herr cousins house for trick or treating, she will then go home with "hunny", while I take my parents to the big city of Lincoln.
Monday morning early we get up in our hotel roomand take my dad to his multiple cardiology appts. Then depending on those we come home or go to the hospital for yet more surgery. Tuesday if we are home I have the day off for R&R Then work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in OR, all long days and multiple procedures. Have Saturday off so far then work on the Floor Sunday:eek: :hug:z |
My FIL fell out of his wheel chair on the patio and into some bushes. He got several bad skin tears. SO we spent the morning at the ER with him. just got home. a nap sounds good.....
|
(((Goofy))) Your post brought back a lot of memories of my dad in the nursing home....they used to tie him into his chair and I hated that but I guess it would keep him from falling. On the other hand, they had no patio so he never got outside except for my occasionally taking him to a dr. apt...always had to hurry him back before that "sundown psychosis" came on. :( He was the neatest guy before that awful downhill slide changed everything. That's the guy we all remember.
We are glad to be home and boy, Cassie wants to do EVERYTHING at the same time..she's making sure that she still can..:D I think being in a cage, next to other dogs, brought back a lot of memories for her. Going to have lunch with Barbo today and get caught up. So glad to have Tom back. And thinking about our Pooh in her travels today. Doody, I hope you feel better...how was the apt and will they adopt Moose? |
Today I stayed home but thought I'd check in for a few minutes, then back to lay down. I feel crappy from the neck up from whatever this virus is, and crappy from the neck down with the fibro, LOL! Laying on the couch with Bruna all snuggled next to me.
I can just imagine Cassie! Romping around checking stuff out. And I assume she'll be going on one of those lovely walks with Mr. Alffe. Yes, Ms. Alffe, I made it to the appointment. Moose will be staying at HUA until just the right home is found for him. :grouphug: Back to the couch. Dam ears hurt too. :p |
Alffee, did you see the FB movie and what did you think? I haven't seen it... I'm one of those people that sees things years later when it shows up on tv... lol
Ah, my Goofy friend... I'm so sorry to hear about your FIL again... what a shame! (((hugs)))... And Doody-sis... sorry that even your ears are hurting! I hope you have comfy cozy pjs, a blanket and your favourite hot drink to bring in front of the tv or with a good book. I'm at work today... a very gloomy rainy day down by the oceans so sales have been slow. Lots of time for me to read my book and catch up here :) xo all :sing: Addy |
Yes Addy, we saw Social Network while we were in Chicago and I really think it's a sign of the times...depresses me to see how materialistic we have become as a society..it had some funny parts but I came away...depressed. (course I am usually mad so that was a change.) :D Remember that great short "poem" about the terrible two's?
Going to go look for it......... |
Found it...
Toddler's Creed
If I want it, it's mine. If I give it to you and change my mind later, it's mine If I can take it away from you, it's mine. If I had it a little while ago, it's mine. If it's mine, it will never belong to anybody else, no matter what. If we are building something together, all the pieces are mine. If it looks just like mine, it is mine. author unknown |
I think that movie would bring me down, too, Alffe.... and that's because its affirming what we already know...
That poem is priceless  .... I don't think I've ever seen it... and I love it!!! I must fit that into my Grand-Addy's momma christmas gift. I'm putting together a photo book for her (and of course, one of my photo/music dvds - which I STILL want to do for you and will... one day... :p ) ok... enough on my plate... some dinner soon... winding down for 2 days off... in my glass... wine :D |
Addy, you can have that printed on a little Tee shirt for that toddler...I've done that before...in fact they sell them on the boardwalk in Florida. :D
Woke up way too early with a racing mind...leaves, leaves, leaves.... Company coming next week, then we are having Thanksgiving here, then a short trip south, then Christmas (not done, hardly begun shopping) then a short cruise, then a week in Fla at our timeshare....impossible to sleep with a racing mind. :o...slow down, one day at a time...today, leaves! The neighbors across the street from us moved suddenly last week. No for sale sign yet, no nothing..that is the second family to move away..a sign of the economy..or was it something I said. |
work..... then choir practice with my boy this evening.... Gotta love singing Christmas songs :) Cant wait for our concert Dec 14 :)
|
I think it was something you said ;) :p
|
Hi everyone!! Another day here with a HUGE plate of food, too much to eat in one day of course.
Alffe, our neighbor moved away too with nothing said, it was kind of a shocker for us. So now their is a new neighbor in the apt across from us, and weird stuff has been happening - noises late at night, foamy soap in the hallways, and the first week - there was a broken iron in front of our door. Curious to see the fellow soon enough, with all these mysterious happenings. I did spot our old neighbor, moved to a better/bigger complex across the street. Doody, I hope you are feeling better today. Have you ever heard of or taken Emergen-C? They sell it at most places now and its heaven-sent for me... you mix it with a cup of water and its an extra dosage of vitamin C. I can tell it works for me because I get sick so often. Which reminds me, I have surgery scheduled for Dec 1st - tonsils have to go and the sinuses have to be enlarged. Ugh Addy, do you have Netflix? I love it! Why bother going to the movies anymore when you can have endless movies streaming on your tv at all times now. :) Alffe, I saw the Social Network twice and loved it ... but I see where you are coming from. So sad it had to go down that way. But if you were depressed seeing that, then don't see "Catfish" also about facebook and a woman living a fake life using it. WOW That movie was intense. Addy, which book are you reading? On my plate today is lots of stuff to get done, so I stayed home from work to do it all, but havent done a thing yet! I'm thinking a shower, lunch, and a walk, might help me get motivated. |
off to see my psychologist..... sigh............
|
Well, I need to finish painting the wheel-chair ramp and mow the lawn one more time...snow next week... Olhipie can't wait to start the ski season!!

For Tamiloo
We're supposed to get snow tonight. I just hate cleaning it off my car!
|
We drove through sleet on our way to lunch today and the sky was definitely a snow sky. Talked about getting into the hot tub but now it's rainning. ~sigh
|
Wish, I'm reading Margaret Trudeau's new autobiography called "Changing My Mind". She's bipolar - was the wife of a Canadian Prime Minister, mom of 3 sons (one who died in an avalanche) ... from the hippie era... Vancouver... I can relate to a lot of her life (Oh, except the part of being rich! and a socialite)...
No, I don't use netflix... I pay a ton for cable, tho... :( I can't believe you guys are talking about snow... scarey stuff... but I guess it is November! and Christmas is coming  Vicky... glad you're getting some help  hang in there sweetie! :sing: On my plate: I have a Grand-Addy Friday/Saturday coming up.... picking her up in the morning tomorrow. I'm hoping it doesn't rain and I'll take her down to the ocean. I am prepared to be exhausted! :grouphug: |
