What's on your PLATE?

Can we talk about food instead? I'm hungry! I'd love something on my plate but that would require me getting up to make it.

Here are the dinner plans: I made some salmon burgers about an hour ago (sitting in the oven now waiting for me) and figured I'll make them into bagel salmon burgers with cream cheese and lettuce/tomato? Not sure how that'll go!

But what's really on my plate tomorrow is two doctor appointments. A third opinion for the surgery and then the psychologist for the 2nd visit. Not so sure how I felt about him the first time, can't believe 2 weeks have gone by already and I told him I'd be done with school stuff by now and am not! I also told him I'd talk to my boss and didn't.

Wednesday night I work late.

Thursday night I have girls night out.

Friday night a movie with a friend.

Saturday two friends birthday outing.

And Sunday to relax (I HOPE).

FeelinGoofy 11-09-2010 09:04 AM

On my plate today???? Going to work here in a bit, then choir practice this evening. Tomorrow is Rebeccas 18th birthday. :) Trying to stay afloat.
Trying (without much luck) Old habits are hard to break . sigh......
love you guys

Enjoying some unusually nice weather for this time of year and s-inlaw who is visiting. Going up to lake michigan today for a look at the much talked about new golf course and amusement pk...having lunch at a new place there.

wish, your post made me hungry! baked salmon burgers w/sour cream sounded wonderful! Had to laugh at the "dieting" brother and sister, gobbling down the sourcream coffee cake at breakfast...:D

And Goofy...You have good reason to revert of old "behaviors" all things considered...I have confidence that you'll beat this and we love you anyway. :grouphug:

Doody 11-09-2010 11:12 AM

The weather here is simply amazing, unbelievable. But guess it's turning colder this Friday with rain, hopefully not snow. But geesh! The weather has been phenomenal!

Work today per usual. No special plans. I wanna go to Lake Michigan too! :p

Addy 11-09-2010 01:05 PM

Day off work here...

I'm going over to a friends for lunch then help them organize their photos into folders.

I've been driving around with a trunk full of stuff for the Thrift Shop so I MUST get myself there today.

And the rest of the day will be spent putting together some photo books for Christmas presents!

Burntmarshmallow 11-09-2010 05:00 PM

Ugh I have bitten my tongue off and am about to be so un me . and rude when she calls again. you show up to work under the influence ...ugh way to long of a story but ...

 is aggressive brain cancer but God is here . Amen .

my dear long time friend with alz . is working on coming down with her boy . trying to get them to stay at house.as I imagine it would be easier with a special needs child to stay at a house and not hotel. ?? I have no clue if thats true :confused:and no knowledge of downs syndrome but. just one last visit before things get ugly would be such a gift from God!!! and well worth any mess or broken items or whatever.

((((((((((marshmallow)))))))))))

we really do know you are here when you can be... and when you're not here, we're with you until you can be back with us...

I will take on the role as deputy sheriff again... cuz its fun to close down the wonder threads!! I get such a kick out of you!

Another thing to add to my plate today - I made a delicious dinner.... manicotti stuffed with ground chicken, carrots, mushrooms, onion, garlic, ricotta, cream cheese, zuccinni and smothered with sauces, mozzarella and parmesan! The oven is beeping now...

(I'm glad spell police isn't here... I have no time to run spell-check and can't find it anyway... )

Alffe 11-11-2010 06:16 AM

We had such a good time with our company..enjoyed the beautiful weather. They were putting up the Christmas decorations on the bluff at St.Jo..such a gorgous view of the lake. They have built a new round building for the old fashioned carousel but it had Fall hours so we weren't able to go in and ride it...but we will next time. Doody you would love it!

I finally got my haircut and she kidded me about choosing the basement over my apt with her several weeks ago...but that sky was scary as was the wind.

I think I've mention before what a great jumper Cassie is...when she is really excited she jumps straight up on all four legs...looks like a card table..last evening she plucked a possum right off the tree where the corn feeder is for the squirrels (thanks Doody's daddy) He did, what they do so well, played dead and we got Cassie in the house..he finally wondered away towards the barn.

I'm thinking about smae and her surgery yesterday. Hugs for the room
and have a great day. :grouphug:

FeelinGoofy 11-11-2010 09:18 AM

I'm really enjoying this thread... and how it allows me to see inside your lives on the other side of this computer screen.

I was called by my boss yesterday which gave me today off.... business down at the beach isn't so hot in November....

As most of you know, I'm a glass half full person so I make the best of this time (the photo books I'm putting together are hugely time consuming as I'm such a freakin' creative person!!! :o ) ....

so, today, I was sleeping in when the phone rang... it went to voicemail.

It was the mother of Grand-Addy... telling me that my son, Derek (the estranged from me Daddy of Grand-Addy) was going to be phoning and she hoped that I didn't mind she gave him my number (MIND  ??!!! )

So, the phone rings within seconds... and on the other end is this deep voice that says, Hi, how's it going? (no Hi this is Derek).... but, of course, I knew it was him....
and throughout that call I remained the changed, calm, and loving person I have become since he chose to leave my life... and together we agreed that tomorrow he would come to me to be with his daughter.

My big boy was crying on the other end of that phone... he has a lot of anger and I know that deep in my heart he needs medication to help balance that angry irrational brain of his... he's 33...

Baby steps... baby steps... oh, where is David right now... I know he'd like to be reading this... as I know so many of you will :grouphug:

And I thank God every day for that angel in my life - my Grand-Addy

Alffe 11-14-2010 08:20 AM

Ok Addy, patience has never been my strong point...just ask Barbo..:D

So, how did it go, did it go? Curious minds want to know...come on..make my day! :grouphug:

I continue to throw things out here...no end in sight when you've spent this many years "saving stuff"....It's Sunday and I miss having a church..:(...and it's a lot colder this morning than when I went to bed last night.

Am watching CSpan while I clean and find myself yelling at some of the callers....:o

Addy 11-14-2010 03:29 PM

Hi!!! well, the 3 hour visit went very well... so little time to have an actual full discussion with Derek with Grand-Addy there... so we talked when opportunity arose and when we felt it wouldn't affect the little one. Of that, I was very clear - this IS and always will be about Grand-Addy! Not about me and Derek and the years we have lost. I also was able to touch on his "inherited" disrespect for me and for woman. I was careful and matter-of-fact ... giving him lots of room.

Well, I might say that this is all about that little girl - but perhaps it is about me, too. I'm stronger than I have been for quite a while... and I am going to work hard to protect my heart.

I'm worn out and need to go to work in about an hour so I'd best get moving... I hope to play more catch-up here while I'm working at the beach... its raining :D

Mango and Wasabi

I was thinking back to a week ago when I had Blue Fin Tuna with Wasabi annd Mango drizzles over rissotto.

Life was so much more simple then before I got my biopsy back and found out that I have thyroid cancer.

What I have on my plate now is surgery early next month. I am not sure if this newest challennge will kill me or make me stronger. But I do want to lick it so I can have more mango and tuna.

Alffe 11-21-2010 06:00 AM

Going up to Three Oaks to get the ham for Thanksgiving dinner..not sure their ham is any better than other hams but it's a tradition...and I'll not be refering to it as a dead pig...:D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5WpTLdfRKc

I hear the trashman outside and I always find comfort in that. It is supposed to get up to 65 today but then look out...Thanksgiving day the high is supposed to be 28 and heavy snow. :o

Very interesting article in yesterdays Parade magazine regarding Alzheimer patients...http://www.parade.com/health/2010/11...nt-prison.html

Addy 11-22-2010 12:10 PM

Liver paste... my danish father used to make that... and as a kid/young adult, I thought it was gross... I'd give anything to taste it now! That place looks like a tradition worth keeping Alffe!

I had another brief visit with son and Grand-Addy this weekend. Keeping my mouth shut to him about so may things... baby steps... actually had to tipey-toe a bit ... and thinking back, I don't appreciate being in that position...

Visit with Grand-Addy was an overnighter and of full exhausting pleasures!

I'm working 5 eight hour shifts in a row starting today... altho it will be quiet because of the extreme cold we're experiencing, I'll keep busy practicing my singing and designing a special book for Grand-Addy. This isn't meant as an advertisement although its my website, but it you click on this you might find some great photo christmas gift deas. www.honouryourmemories.ca

And now I best get moving!

Abbie 11-22-2010 10:15 PM

pooh_ac 11-22-2010 11:25 PM

What a neat website Addy...and you sound very busy. Can't say that I blame you for not appreciating "tipey toeing" around but as Dr.Phil would say...some body has to be the "hero" if things are to get "fixed". And families are worth fixing I think. :grouphug:

Have a happy Thanksgiving. When I feel a cold coming on I stuff my nostrils with Vicksand take two Sine-offs. Stops it every time.

Addy 11-25-2010 12:06 PM

Let it snow, let is snow, let is snow...

and then let the roads be safe at the same time! No thanksgiving here in Canada - just another work day... which I've decided to cancel because NO ONE will be driving down those steep hills to the ocean shops in this weather we're having!

Going to catch up on lots of things in my apartment ... lol... I think maybe I will... but maybe not...

Sure wish I was at Ducky's house enjoying all that good food she's been cooking!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends here!

:sing: Addy

barbo 11-25-2010 09:15 PM

Good

Had a wonderful day at Alffe's house. Great food and company - and it didn't even snow!

FeelinGoofy 11-25-2010 11:23 PM

fixed turkey with all the trimmings and instead of pumpkin pie i made a pumpkin pie cake.... VERY yummy. We got my Father-in-law and brought him over. He was doing really good today. Very talkative and ate a good meal. It has been a good day. :) Rebecca and I are going to hit the early sales. LOL. (the mall opens at midnight)

I miss mom but decided last night i have to start making memories for MY family. I want my kids to remember the smell of turkey baking when they wake up on Thanksgiving morning. :)

I hope everybody had a good day today.... I love you guys.... You have no idea how many times i've come here so down and so depressed and just reading the things that are written on this forum has helped in desperate times.

many {{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}} and prayers being sent your way.

Alffe 11-26-2010 09:58 AM

So glad to hear this Goofy...you have a wonderful family and much time to make new memories for them. :grouphug:

Had a lot of fun yesterday...learned who "Dexter" is...what a creepy guy! :o
Awash in left overs and half of the company left....going shopping..of course.

Abbie 11-26-2010 01:09 PM

Yesterday was good and bad...

Spent part of the day in the ER... have whooping cough... never coughed so much in all my life...

In the very few moments spent with family and behind a hospital mask... I was able to talk my 16yr old nephew into trying the YUMMY cranberries he had NEVER tried them before!!! Guess who now has a new favorite food!!!!! YEP... Thanks again Barbo!!! My SIL also LOVES them!!!

I spent the rest of the day in bed but every now and then a family member would poke their head in my room with the lysol and ask me if there was anything I needed... I would say yes... stop spraying the lysol.:D

I'm in bed today... getting ready to take a nap...
 and much love to all!
Abbie

barbo 11-26-2010 03:31 PM

For Abbie

How awful! We think of children having whooping cough but obviously it's getting adults. Stay in bed as much as you can and have 1/4 th cup of cranberry relish every eight hours. Here's a hug for you ((((Abbie)))).

Brokenfriend 11-26-2010 07:50 PM

Dear abbie.

I'm sorry to hear about the whooping cough. I can relate to that because I have these really bad allergy attacks now,and then. The leaves coming out of the trees are not helping my allergys.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the cranberries. I had turkey, stuffing, greenbeans, and a couple of different pies.

I'm sorry that you have been sick. Please sleep, and get all of the naps that you can. I hope that you feel better soon. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Addy 11-26-2010 11:21 PM

In one day all our snow melted... Yesterday Vancouver broke its snowfall record - 10 cm on Nov. 26th... lol... I find this so funny... and today it is almost all gone because it warmed up and rained!

I'm hoping to get some Christmas shopping done this weekend and lay low... not even going to see Grand-Addy...

Yikes re: the whooping cough... I thought we were all immunized against that? Abbie:
BF gives good advice :)

Goofy, I'm so glad you made a memorable Thanksgiving for yourself and your family... your Mom is smiling from above

barbo 11-27-2010 06:01 PM
