Private Messages vs Visitor Messages
It seems some members may be confused about these.
When you leave a Visitor Message (VM) on someone's profile page, it is *NOT* private. Anyone who is logged in can read it if they go to that person's profile. Only a Private Message (PM) is not seen by anyone other than the person sending and the person receiving. So if you want to have a private conversation with another member, choose the Private Messaging option please! |
just giving this a bump for anyone who may not yet have seen it.....
|
And if you are sending a Private Message from a members profile page - it is very easy to click the Visitor Message link by mistake.
|
... and if you are checking the little teeny weeny boxes one after the other to soft delete visitor messages, you have to be very careful not to click the "Report" boxes by mistake. :D

Chemar... please help

Thanks.. Keep smilin... CRPS |
are you sure you are hitting "submit" and not "preview" and then not submitting?
The PM system seems to be working fine so it sounds like you may be using the preview instead of submit |

Often what helps when some are having issues with the site or sites, is to clear you browser cache.
some threads about it- http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...ht=clear+cache http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...ht=clear+cache |
I sent you a test PM keep smilin...
There is a box to check below the text box that says "check to save sent messages"... that needs to be checked to show your message in your sent box. |
Until you get it figured out, after typing a PM or message save a copy of it -and if it does disappear you can just paste it back and try it again.
Do you use the little "remember me" check box when you log in? Often that helps if it is a timing out issue. |
It is working fine for her now... we PMed back and forth.

bumping this up
I just wanted to post a reminder here as I think some members may still be confused about how the messages here work If you want to send someone a Private Message (ie one that only you and they can read) that is very different from posting a Visitor Message on their profile page, which *everyone* who is logged in can read |
Also I would like to add this reminder:
Visitor messages on your profile, come from other people's profiles. To ANSWER a visitor message, you need to go to the sender's profile and answer in the message box there. If you answer a visitor message on YOUR profile, the sender cannot see it. They won't know it is there. If they happen to visit you they will see your response...but it may be days or weeks later depending on them. I will confess I have done this myself :o .... and I will also say that I post general notes on my own visitor message list, during holidays and when I am not available (on vacation) for anyone coming to my profile to read. So I know how easy it is to post in the wrong location!:p Visitor messages can be read by anyone logged into NeuroTalk with a registration ID. If you need to communicate sensitive information or personal details, please use the Private Message function (PM) for privacy. |
