Drugs. OMG
 

When it comes to drugs, I'm a Newbie. My PCP insisted I have Baclophen (Sp ?) in the house, just in case I need it, have never used it. My MS Neurologist at Johns Hopkins has prescribed Gabapentin and Hydroco/Aceam for use at night night,lying down I get joint pain/muscle pain in my shoulder, arm, elbow/hand. Seems very neurological how it acts. Took the Hydro/|Acetam (generic Vicidin) @ hour before bed. Pain was there, could feel some throb, but the edge was off, I was so tired (drug), slept through it all night, woke up ok. Did that 3 nights, Last night took 1/2 the 600mg tab of Gabapentin (Neurotin?) Slept, but this morning I'm loopy, shadow of a headache popping round my head, almost double vision. Do I have a drug hang-over? I've never done liquor well and when the gave me valium as they did everyone before Laser surgery to relax you, well fine for that big guy, but same amount for 110 lb me made me zonk right out. They had to use a thing to prop my eyes open for the surgery I'm told. I didn't feel a thing, sleeping rag-doll I was. DH was there, helped hoist me onto operating table, said nurses said they never had such a good patient (Ha, ha?) The way I feel, I never want Gaba. again. Should I try less? Vicidin was OK. Will I become a House?

I am not a drug addict!! We're talking 1 at bedtime. Excuse me, got to go take my Amantadine (we call it my puppy-upper), Vesicare (we call it anti-pee) and my Antibiotic (1 a day to help prevent UTIs - so far so good), (actually I took them earlier this morning) Will have another puppy-upper after my nap.

I can ask my friend/pharmacist about your reactions to the various medications and the combination of pills you took at one time. E-mail me what you took that day and when.

As far as Gabapentin - I believe it is one of those drugs that is "ramped up" slowly and if one wants to get of it, it must be "ramped down."

I used it for a few years but two things: it did not do much and I was always neurotic if I did not take a pill at a certain time to regulate how much was in my system.

I would rather deal with the pain.

My thought is a good soothing eucalyptus rub by a very handsome muscular massage eye candy guy. It would be great to be able to store him in the closet and just bring him out when needed, like some medications.:D

Do I have to get a prescription for a hunky guy? My neurologist's mouth is gonna drop open when I ask for this.

I'm only 5 feet 3/4 inch tall. EVERYONE is bigger than me.

BTW, Gabapentin worked for Jim but he gained an enormous amount of weight and you cannot ever, I mean ever, stop taking it without weening down. He said when he stopped, he never felt better though. The stuff was wiping him out and he didn't even realize it because of all the other meds he took.

Ach...I leave for a couple hours and see what happens? I was talking about your drug assortment, Kicker, NOT the hunky guys. 'Sides, don't need no rx, I can get them anywhere :winky:.

lol to hunky guy tolerance. Hey Kicker is marijuana legal in your state? Helps you sleep, relax spasms a bit & take away just enough pain. If not ask for marinol and have insurance pay 13$/day for 1 tiny pill...get 2/day. 26$. maybe someone will realize how much $$ gets wasted on oxy this and mari that. Rain water, sunshne & a seed is cheaper to medicare i believe. Rocket science isn't it.

Maryland does not have medical MJ, but a 45 minute drive away, DC has it. Even more convenient my cleaning lady, daughter of ex-addicts can get it for me.

As I was saying to SandyC, my pharmacist friend has a location lined up and a grower in place. This was based on AZ passing MMJ, which it did by a very narrow margin. It had passed twice before but now, it is the real deal.

So I am going to get a script and try to render the THC and start cooking. My goal is to find a way to mask the taste and make the cookie/whatever taste good. Maybe I can sell them to her for distribution. Maybe a money maker and doing a good thing for those in need.

Only problem - taste testing!

Took 2/3 of half the 600 gm pills I have =@ 200 grams. Scientist BIL here, ground it up, got correct amount but then we (me) found out it does not mix in liquid, tastes awful in my little cranberry drink and biting it, downing it with water works better. It was better this morning, but still felt drug hung-over this morning for awhile. DH can get some "medicinal MJ from cancer-patient grandma of a client so told him to try. The grandma works to distribute it to those who need it.

Hey, I know how to make canna butter if anyone wants to make cookies or dessert that requires butter. :wink: Very easy.

in the Spring when I can get a MMJ card. I am hoping to eliminate Requip and Baclofen to substitute MMJ when needed. Would rather use an herb than a drug.

Should be an interesting adventure. If it does not work, I can always go back to the drug.

Good thing about being older, doctors don't intimidate me. I know how to work them.:)
