Our new grandson Lucas, who was born last night, needs your prayers please. He's not doing too well today and has been admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the hospital where he was born.

Please remember him when you next speak to the Lord.

I wanted to let you know that Lucas has now been discharged from the Intensive Care Nursery. He's had his stomach tube removed..... he's out of the humidicrib, has begun feeding normally. He's doing well.:D

Now that the pediatrician is happy with him, I look forward to him coming home in a few days time so that I can begin my Grandma duties..... like loving and cuddling. :)

Wonderful news!!

Although Lucas had a relapse after coming out of Intensive Care causing him to be readmitted after my last update, he is doing so much better now.

He's been out of Special Care and out of the humidicrib for nearly 2 days, and if all is well when the pediatrician sees him this morning, he'll be coming home today.

I thank you and his parents thank you so very much for all your prayers, I know for sure they helped.

We haven't been able to hold him yet due to his fragile state, but now I'm looking forward to my first cuddle.

I have only one photo in my album so far, but be assured that I'll post some more when I get them.

I am so glad he is coming home soon.... little babies are very tough... so far Lucas seems to fit that mold ;)

I'm just reading this...so sorry for that. But I am praying for your wee little one's continued good health. I know you are thrilled to have that little bundle in your arms to snuggle! I am happy for you! :hug:

He was discharged a few days ago and although still rather jaundiced, his pediatrician (who checked him today) is happy for him to stay home .... so that's good news.

If only he'd decide to sleep at night...... :rolleyes:

THank you for the update Koala, I pray that he continues to improve and even start sleeping. When they are too little to express any ill feelings guess it comes out in the sleep pattern.

I was a colic baby, lots of rides in the car to fall asleep. Found out years later I was extremly lactose intolerant.....the formula was torture to me. One year I decided to diet and did the Slender milkshakes and ended up crawling into the docs office. Gee I can only imagine how uncomfortable I was as a newborn....

Little lucas continues to struggle a bit although the Pediatrician is happy for him to remain at home for now, which allays some of my fears, but he remains very jaundiced and at 2 weeks af age, he continues to lose weight. :(

I'm sure the Pediatrician would have re-admitted him if there were any real concerns, so I guess I have to sit back and learn to be patient. :rolleyes:
