Well I have another ulcer
So I had another upper endoscopy done and they found a small ulcer, not in my tummy this time, but in my food pipe the doctor said, so I assume it's the esophagus. I have been feeling sick for months now, hopefully things will settle down. Thought I would check in, other then this news, things are good. Kiddo is doing good in school and I am just hanging in there, this is my first month with no Tdoc, I missed my last appt with her in December and she's gone now. I told her I didn't want to start up with a new tdoc but that I wanted to continue seeing the pdoc so that's cool. I go in next week for my med mangt appt. I feel good, so it's really nice, I am off wellbutrin with NO depression returning and I feel better. I wish I could get OFF abilify but I really need it....Anyway, hope you all had a good Christmas and a awesome New Year's. We had a nice quiet time here, just the way I like it. :D
|
Dear Pam,
'Wishing you a good year in 2011. It's great that you check in with us. :) Mari |
thanks for checking in pammy! great to hear from you.
sorry about your esophogus...hopefully meds will heal it fast. glad that your depression has not returned! happy to hear about this! You sound really good. bizi |
Hey Pamster. I'm sorry that you have a ulcer. Does it hurt much in the esophagus? I'm sorry to hear this. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Dear Pam
Good to hear from you and Happy New Year! sorry for the ulcer :( i hope that clears up quick now that you are being treated. it's nice to hear you all had good holidays and that you are doing well moodwise (((hugs))) ~ waves ~ |
Thanks everyone! It's not too bad lately, it was bad before the end of the year, I was waking up at all hours and throwing up. It was awful. So I knew something was wrong. It's funny how a ulcer can do that to you, but it's better, the meds must be working, it was probably bigger and it's healing up already because he said it was small. I just wish I could stay clear of developing these things, it isn't pain like normal sharp pain, it's like achy pain in the high stomach. Like kinda under the sternum, about three inches below it in the center of my abdomen. No fun, but I'll be okay.
I just bought a Dell Mini 1018 netbook to be able to enjoy the net while kiddo is on the computer so I don't have to sit there on the sofa bored out of my mind, it should be nice, so that's something to look forward to. :) I might be around more now that I have the netbook, or when I get it, it's due here this week like Thursday or so. :) |
nice!
i'd really like something in between a phone and a laptop... that i could actually toss in my mini backpack and still fit some groceries in there... lol. dunno yet if i want a mini laptop or a smartphone type thing. doesn't matter coz ... i still have to "work my way up to it..." by then they may yet have something new again. Dells are nice in general - well designed, well-assembled, very reliable, i hope you enjoy it. ... be seeing you then! :) ~ waves ~ |
I saw an ipad today it was brilliant!
|
I have a mac book and an iphone...
Love, love, love them! |
Well they delayed my order so I cancelled and reordered but a different mini model, got the 1012 instead, it had twice the battery power, better screen setup, 90GB more HD space and a Ice Blue lid! I am really excited, can't wait, stalking the porch tomorrow for the fed ex truck! LOL!!!
Saw pdoc today and she wants me on lamictal, I don't think it's gonna work out for me, on that med, I will give it a try but saw it has or can have stomach side effects and with the ulcer and possibility of additional stomach pain I just doubt this is gonna be a good thing. Will see though. I hope things work out better for me soon, I am sick of feeling sick to my stomach. :p |
Are you being treated for H. Pylori? I have wondered which antibiotic is used for ulcers.
Years ago got a burned esophogeal sphincter (i.e. an ulcer of sorts). Incredibly painful. I am sure stress was involved along with my awful diet - not the bacterium which causes stomach ulcers. We used to pop Tums and Rolaids like they were candy, until we quit eating Pizza and some other irritating foods. No problem now. |
We'll see if they find any bacteria the biopsy hasn't come back yet...I'll keep you all posted on that. :)
|
keep us posted.....
|
I am on the mini netbook now and its awesome! Its taking some getting used to the smaller keys on its keyboard but I will master it soon I'm sure. :D
|
Nothing new, feeling like heck though, and grouchy today. *sigh* I am so tired, slept bad too, stomach was upset but I didn't vomit at least. :( I wish I could be happier. :(
I have to go have a tooth yanked tomorrow and I am very anxious about it, oh well. Nothing to do but to get through it I guess. :( |
well that is unpleasant. i hope whatever reason it is coming out tho, leaves you with a more comfortable mouth in the end, so that you will feel more pleasant. i hope things go smoothly for you.
i am concerned about pain management immediately after the extraction... with the ulcer? normally a good strong dose of nsaid would be given in time so it will be "in effect" by the time the injection wears out... but nsaid+ulcer=nono!... you think extra-strength acetaminophen will cover you? maybe you have some amped up with codeine? ask the doctor if you aren't sure.... call ahead if need be. h.pylori treatment is multiple antibio's and they aren't fun. i hope the biopsy comes back negative for that. keep in touch (((hugs))) ~ waves ~ |
I take Hydrocodone for pain anyway so I should be fine, I have a huge hole in this tooth but thankfully it isn't hurting yet, I just want to get it out before it breaks off like I've had before on the other side. NO FUN...I had to wait over a month for that one to get extracted, so rather then going off and waiting, I am facing removing it now, more are on the way though, all on top will be gone soon enough, and then I'll see about getting a denture for the top, by then the bottoms might be giving me trouble too, I am only missing two on the bottom at this point...*Sigh* I hate that I let my teeth get this way, it's my fault for not taking better care of them in my 20's and 30's. Dang unmedicated BP II was really hell to live with...Thanks for caring waves, I really appreciate it. Thank you all for caring. :grouphug:
|
Dear Pam,
Hugs to you. I hope the dentist visit goes well today. M. |
good luck today pammy.
hoping that you don't have much pain thru out the ordeal and when you get home. they should give you pain meds. (((((HUGS))))) bizi |
Yep, it went really well, it was hard waiting, I was there almost 3 hours, but when he had me in the chair and was actually working on my extractions it was only like 15 minutee from time of the needle to stitching me up afterward, as far as the extractions went they went great, both came out in ONE piece no fractures, I am so relieved its over, not too much pain today, but yesterday it was bad. Glad its better today. I need a top denture pretty bad, but I have like 7 teeth left up there, one malformed wisdom, one molar I chew on currently, two front teeth, and one canine and then two behind the cainine. I am so sick of feeling like a toothless old lady too, have already had a terrible time emotionally over the loss of the other teeth, it's hard to smile anymore. :(
|
Dear Pam,
I'm glad to hear that you got through that yesterday. 'Sending lots of hugs. Mari |
Thanks Mari, I really appreciate the hugs. I feel much better today, as long as I don't TOUCH my surgery site area with my hand, I forgot last night and it was a HORRIFIC twenty minute burst of pain, luckly I didn't break open the clots. STUPID! I can't believe I forgot and wiped at my mouth so hard but I did....I lisp now, I drool more now and it sucks, I might have to get the rest of the teeth pulled and do a denture up top if I find I can't eat. I won't know for awhile either so that stinks. Wish me luck eating. :)
|
oh pammy ouch..that sounds painful.
you poor thing. (((((HUGS))))) bizi |
It was SO very painful, it didn't last though, thank heavens. My tummy was really upset last night, I woke up at 1 am and thought I was going to vomit, I ate a piece of bread and that helped thank goodness. I really don't want to contemplate that with open wounds...Ugh! I hope I don't get sick like that until after I am healed up! Have to go make the boys breakfast now, take care all, will post more later. :)
|
Dear Pam,
I'm trying to remember what works for tummy upset -- maybe ginger, what rice. I too hope that you are healed up soon. I'm glad that you got this done. I feel better when I get something taken care of and can move on to whatever I need to think about next. M. |
Yeah Ginger is good but I don't have any fresh ginger only the spice ginger. not sure about how much to use for that purpose either so I won't mess with it. It felt like too much stomach acid so I needed to soak up some acid so the bread did the trick. Thanks for caring Mari, you and everyone else here all make me feel better. :)
|
good to hear you are doing better now Pammy. :):heartthrob:
~ waves ~ |
doesn't ginger ale work too? maybe flat with out the carbination????
bizi |
I wish I could have ginger ale but I have to wait a few more days, dentist's orders, you have to go a week with no soda/carbonated beverages. Its probably the hardest restriction too. LOL! I am really missing soda Jackie is sick, he had a real high fever last night nearly went to the ER with it but it came down with motrin. I am so worried about him. He just spikes fevers all of a sudden and it's scary. Glad we took his temp yesterday so we could give him motrin to combat the fever. He's so sick the poor kid, coughing and blowing his nose. I HATE that he gets this crap, but schools have sick kids in them since not everyone is as consientious as we are about keeping our son home when he's sick. I understand they don't have someone to be able to stay with their kids or whatever, but sending a kid in sick is just not right. Anyway, I had soft pizza today, so I think I am well on the mend. :)
|
I am sorry jackie is sick....
I hope you feel better too, and the soda restriction ends soon. ((((HUGS)))) bizi |
Dear Pam,
Our teeth do affect our emotions because they are so integral to everything else. It can also take some time to get over having the teeth removed. The pain goes away, but the trauma might continue for a few days. My acupuncturist thought that some groups believe that our teeth hold all our memories -- explains why letting go of one of them can take an emotional toll. You are going to be ok. Keep taking it easy on yourself. I practice trying to love myself. It is hard work. I should be better at it by now -- I've had many years to practice  :) Mari |
Hey Pam
Sorry I haven't responded. I have been sick for a few weeks. And then I was Snowed in and not feeling like computering. Donna:grouphug: |
Well I caught whatever Jackie had, OMG I had to vomit repeatedly too, I felt like there was no end to it! Had a fever of 102 yesterday, its down today, 100 and I feel better, no chills today. But man this stuff comes on fast and hard. jack is down with it now and Jackie still has it so I assume we're in for a few more days of agony. Ugh. Thanks for all the kind words everyone, I needed them right now especially. Be back when I can.
|
Dear Pam, Lots and lots of hugs    I hope that you and everyone in your home gets better soon. M. |
Its personally better for you all to get it together.
That way you don't give it back to each other. Get better soon. Donna:grouphug: |
Thanks for the hugs Mari, we're doing better today, but man the headache from this flu bug is killer. Ugh! :p
You're right Donna, I am glad we're all down with it at the same time, I would hate to get this again or see Jackie or Jack with it again. Thanks for the kind words, we are definitely taking it easy today... |
Dear Pam,
For the past two years, I got the flu vaccine. I know that there are complications to the vaccine, but this year I was more concerned about complications of not getting the vaccine, if that makes any sense. Anyway, I hope you get more relief soon. Mari |
Hopefully this will be the last time we're sick this season, I really hate the idea of getting the flu shot but we might get them next year. I feel better this morning though, so that's better, kiddo is yelling a lot though, I think he's well enough to go back to school...LOL!
|
Pam
I have been getting the flu shot for about 5 years now. Its something that is required now by my doctor. But it was something I had started asking for before this doctor. I also get the pnemonuia shot because I'm prone to both that and bronchitus. As it happens this particular shot last for 3 years. I believe I'm due it next year. I find it very interesting the year before I got this shot, is I believe the year I ended up in the hospital over christmas and new year with bronchitus that they had thought was pnemonuia one of the days I ended up in the hospital. I haven't had either the last two years. So it seems its been working. I also don't believe other than small doses of flu that I've had it either. Wow, I have had great luck. On an other note, Derrick has been supposed to get it for many years. THe year before we started, because the doc didn't believe me. He had it for 4 weeks. Off and on. Then he didn't get it because I couldn't find it last year. Thanks to the shortages up here. We got lucky he didnt' get it. THis year he got it again. Thanks to the school giving it. Donna:grouphug: |
testimonial
well, i got it (the shot) for the first time ever this year.
got sick 4 times. 'course had i not had it.... i might have been sick 5 or 6? we gotta remember, the flu shot does not protect against all viral strains, nor the common cold, nor bacterial infections.... anyway, glad to hear you are all on the mend now, Pam. :) Weather's warming up too now, hope you stay well. ~ waves ~ |
