Tues Feb 8th it is!!!!!!
Thought I would just start a new thread for this procedure to let you all know how it goes/went.......and hopefully the next battery will have a longer shelf life:rolleyes:
Im booked in for the surgery on Tues Feb 8th.....it will be done in the evening time so dont have to be in the hospital until at least 2pm. This is great because it means I can organise my daughter and get her off to school and out of the way(so to speak , as she gets very upset seeing me going off) and when she comes home I will be gone. Cant say Im looking forward to this one bit. I dont really know how I feel, angry, upset, afraid, nervous, shocked, at a loss........this apparently only happens to 1% of implantees and guess who JUST happens to be in that 1% The only good thing I suppose is that I will be put to sleep and wont have to endure the pain of the injections nor the actual procedure....thankfully something is going right. ;) Roll on Wednesday;) Jackie:grouphug: |
Good luck. I am going in on the 8th for the trial. Let's hope the 8th is a great day for all of us.
Patty |
Only four more days until you're restored to the butt buzzers:D Hoping and praying for you that it will go smoothly, painlessly and that the results will be better than hoped for.:hug:
|
For Both Jackie and Patty
May your forthcoming procedures remedy what is wrong, produce relief where there is pain, demonstrate to others the properness of your procedure to satisfy all of their queries, and especially in the case of Jackie may ALL costs be borne by those who are truly responsible so as not to add to any family strain [and may your daughter be comforted in knowing her Mum will be cared for and restored to more active relationship because this is occurring].
By the way Jackie with your statistics on the odds, perhaps you should be about and purchasing a lottery ticket. May as well....:D Oh, and just in case you are wonderin, I will be a prayin for you all at this time, Mark56:hug:Z |
Thank you all
Patty I really hope you find the trial of benefit. Im sure you will as it seems to help so many people. I am praying too that the 8th is a VERY GOOD day for us both!!
Fiona I definitely want to be back in the land of butt buzzers asap:D Mark ....question!!!! ....spoke with my Rep yesterday and she mentioned that the company will have to look at the battery and investigate it before they decide if they would pay my excesses. They said as a 'goodwill' gesture they would, provided their equipment is at fault. SO my question would be........where do I stand in relation to the battery being taken away and once out of my sight and me, how do I know if its their fault or mine, Ive only their word for that dont I??? Bit annoyed to think that it has to be replaced in the first instant and it ISNT my fault (well as far as I know it isnt, as I didnt bang it or fall) Medically it looks good, no migrated leads and everything looked in its place, which would then point to a technical issue, therefore the company are responsible:confused:arent they???? It will be an interesting few weeks! to say the least Oh and Im definitely going to do the Lotto:Dalthough knowing my luck I definitely wont win it...... Thinking of you all:grouphug: Jackie:hug: |
See a Barrister NOW
Find a friend with a good recommendation regarding your situation and get in NOW to see someone!!!! This is critical! Evidence needs to be preserved. While it is easy for the company to mention a goodwill gesture, frankly, if the merchandise is defective and causes your revisit to the surgical suite, it is a matter of LAW not goodwill which enforces a code of ethical conduct in the business to make good.
If you have not started to speak with anyone yet..... NOW, NOW, NOW, so the battery removed from you does not go the way of so may other pieces of medical evidence..... into the hazardous waste heap. Clarity and preservation of the record, the evidence, the performance, the effect on you as a patient..... these are ALL THINGS a Barrister can aid with. Go it alone and let the company be in full control, you could regret it later. I may sound BLUNT, but you are a friend in need indeed. Urgently, Mark56:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek ::eek: |
Mark you are amazing. Thank you so much for that . Yes I will definitely pursue that road...but typically its FRIDAY now so first thing Monday morning I will be on the phone and try to get something done BEFORE my replacement on Tues.....
thanks again:hug: |

Special day! Tomorrow (8th) is the day of my second trial! hah
|
For Jackie
Now the eighth where you are
hoping health you will find. May your care take you far. Into peace may you rise as from doctor's good care and the function restored to the system impaired. Taking life as by storm then in joy may you live, having freedom to walk and to drive and to give of yourself as you talk with your family and friends may you be blessed again. HUGZ Mark56:grouphug: |
Mark that's beautiful and thank you.
Well I'm in hospital now and it's 1.30pm. Just been told I wont be done til 6!!!!!!!!!! So WHAT am I doing here then aarrggghh I could kill someone. Got some legal advice bout this situation. Basically I've been told not to let faulty battery out of my sight!!!! Well easier said than done when I'll b asleep!!! Anyway just gonna go with the flow and see what happens!!! |
Ask for it
I have had hardware removed from my back before, and I asked for it as a souvenir of my endurance. They bagged it safely since it is potentially hazardous, and geve it to me.
Blessings on you, May all be well, Mark56:hug:z |
Hope everything went well and that you got the battery. Funny story for you...when my husband had some of his shrapnel (sp?) taken out he wanted to keep it but they wouldn't let him as they had to send it to the lab to be tested for bacteria etc. He was drugged up from the surgery and he was fighting them about wanting it and they had to have me get on the phone and talk to him in the recovery room to convince him to let them have it. He finally gave in and let them take it, and later on he didn't even remember the whole thing happening!

Thank you and him

Im home and buzzing again!!!
Morning all
Well Im finally home.......with my new battery in place woohoooo..... Went in on Tuesday full of beans looking forward:eek:to having the old battery taken out and the new one put in. Got to hospital bout 11am and at 3.50pm I was in the theatre waiting to be 'put under' My Dr. came into me and explained all he was going to do and we signed a couple of more forms:rolleyes:He then said!!!!! 'You know you and me shouldnt be here this isnt our fault. I am going to have words NOW with the Rep.(who was waiting in the theatre for us to arrive)and make sure all you expenses are fullly met by the company. AND if there is any hesitation I will be telling her that I certainly wont be using their company again in the future' I was so pleased because as you can imagine its hard enough going into hospital but having to pay out TWICE for the same procedure was just not on. So when we arrived in the anaestetic room, my Rep came over to me and said ' dont worry Jackie everything will be sorted for you and we will get the expenses taken care of asap';) So that was a blessing, finally she was listening!!! so grateful that my Dr. also stood up to the plate. I was then put to sleep zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz bliss:D I woke about 5.45pm in the recovery room and glad it was all over. Was eventually brought back to my room and had a lovely nights sleep. Then yesterday morning my Dr. visited me again and told me he had put some local around my pocket that should last up to 48hours:eek:now I was wondering how come I didnt feel so sore, thought I had gotten away with that , but heck no.....boy do I feel it this morning...... Got all my programmes sorted out and then took it easy for the rest of the day. Tomorrow I have to go and have a wound review. So Im just home now EXHAUSTED and have now started a lovely flu like symptons, so Im back in bed!!!....... Still extremely tired, which is so unusal for me as I dont sleep a lot, but then Ive a combination of medications to take, antibotics, painkillers, you name it Ive got it....... Going to go back to rest now, thank you all for you good wishes too Jackie :grouphug: |
I am so glad....

THRILLLED for you Jackie
YES INDEEDY, THRILLED FOR YOU!
I guess that says it. Yep, Mark56:grouphug: |
I was SOOOO wanting to read this post!
Answered prayer! Hats off to your doctor! and the Rep! Wow! I'm impressed! I can sure understand that you are so very tired. I don't know what it is about anesthesia....but I just couldn't seem to get enough sleep! I guess we just have to sleep it off. I hope your incision site is doing good, nothing oozing right? I got a bit concerned when you said you have flu like symptoms....I hope there's no fever or anything that would indicate possible infection. Just a real 'tired' feeling......... yes? You've been thru enough! This should not have happened.....and I can only hope this will spark a company quality assurance review. So sorry you had to pay the price of a battery gone bad....but SO relieved to know that you won't literally be 'paying any price'...... That sure takes a load off! Get your rest dear Jackie!:grouphug::hug: |
Feeling awful tbh:(
I've had the worst two nights ever. Feeling really cold then hot and very feverish. I too am hoping it's only a cold I've picked up from hospital. Going for wound review later this morning. Can't sleep properly as both my legs are soooo restless and achy. So much so that I've had to turn OFF my stim to try and get some sleep. Plus we had to change bed linen twice in the night. So annoying as I was so much better and brighter on Tues after the op.
Anyway will see what Dr says. Hope its not infection. That would just be my luck wouldn't it!!!! Yes thankfully all expenses will be sorted too my Rep has been so good and emailed me exactly what's happening at this stage. Hope you are all keeping well. Yes Rae the tiredness is unreal. Takes me back to those first days after my big fusion ops!!!! Just gonna try to take it easy. Well I've no choice ive no energy anyway. Will keep you all posted. |
Review
Well went for my wound review today. All looks neat and tidy. So I'm told. Well I couldn't see behind me:D so back again on Tues for new dressing. Still feeling yuky. Dr thinks I have a viral infection. So I'm here feeling crap and sorry for myself too. Havent felt this bad for a long long time.
Hope it goes soon as I need a good nights sleep. Jackie:grouphug: |
For Jackie
I have a good friend, name of Jackie
who feels from a virus, pure yukky. I would send her a smile, from mile after mile, but draw one one here, is quite beyond me. So take on the limit of smilies I'll send until NT denies me. 'Cause Jackie, our dear is needin some cheer, and next will you find all I could beam thee! :circlelove::Popcorn::icon_smile::Trapeze 2::Girl(angel-flying)::You-Rock::smileypray::Crazy 2::Heart::BeamUp::grin::icon_mrgreen::Dancing-Chilli::sing::Head-Spin: Feel BETTER Soon, Mark56 |
Sorry to hear you're feeling bad on top of having the replacement put in :hug:
Great news, tho', on the financial part of the whole thing. I'm sure that's a relief off your shoulders. Are you cutting up your lidocaine patches and placing them around (not "on") your implant incision site? I remember someone suggesting I do that (was it you?) and it really helped a lot. Give yourself some time to get over this. You may be having to turn it off for a while because your nerves are being overly stimulated from having a new implant put in so soon after the first one. They may be unhappy about being messed with again. Just sleep, sleep, sleep if you can and let your body have some down time. You're in my thoughts and prayers:) |
Sending my ((((HUGS)))) and ((((PRAYERS)))) as well.....
Rest, REST and then REST some more! So sorry you are feeling so poorly. :( We need our Jackie back! Better than ever! .....and you need your life back! Yes, let's hope this is something that is fading away as we speak.....Well, you are probably curled up sleeping....at least I sure hope you are! Do you still have the chills and sweating?:grouphug::hug: |
Thanks guys
Ah you are all so good with your lovely wishes and beautiful poem from Mark too
Still not great this morning, but had a bit of a better sleep last night, thankfully. Still needed to change bed linen though:mad:cant be much more left in me!!! Feeling quite hot now and weak and have completely lost my appetite, which would be a blessing if I was trying to lose the weight but Im just not hungry now. Yes Fiona I am using my patches ....Im quite bruised:eek:around my battery area but I guess thats from all the pulling and tugging trying to get that faulty battery out...Im so mad to think Ive had to go through all this suffering again and its not that long since I was here before...... Anyway will sign off for now and go back to sleep and catch up with you all later Thanks again:grouphug: |
