Doody??
 So good to see you posting !! You're out of surgery and doing OK !! How very, very wonderful !!! :)
I hope you're feeling OK -- Shoot - I hope you're feeling WONDERFUL. |
Awww, thanks. It's difficult typing out words because my brain is in slow mo after the anesthetic, lol.
I'm going to lay down and nap, having a hard time staying awake. I'm not looking forward to when the local anesthetic wears off on my knee. And yeah. Tomorrow I have to start some fairly simple exercises with my leg. Amazing what they can do these days with surgeries. Hugs and thanks for thinking of me and all your support. |
I'm glad to see you offline and hopefully resting. Girl...go to bed!
|
(((Doody))) What a woman! I hope he gave you a script for some pain meds.
Now be careful! No lifting! Wish I could come cook you some soup. |
Ditto what Alffe said -----
I hope you have pain meds. When you talked about the surgeon ooooooooooooo scraping tendons and oooooooooooo bones my TEETH hurt. I needed pain meds. I sure hope you sleep this afternoon and tonight. ...... and tomorrow. |
WOW, that's amazing. It's over already? I must be in dreamland. I missed reading for a couple of days so didn't realize it was going to happen so fast.
Dear Doody, I'm wishing you a very speedy recovery and that you'll be feeling great in no time at all. Do be a good Doody and follow doctor's orders! ;) lol http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t...rra/images.jpg |
HI Doody... its probably going to hurt for a while - be good to yourself and take what you need to be well again..
xoxo reading about your ice storm weather reminds me of the wind storms we had this past winter - it was/is horribly devestating for the trees... we have never experienced anything like it - hurricane force winds... this is a photo of one of the trees that was blown over: http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...Feb2007067.jpg ( my apartment building is the tallest grey one on the left) http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...Feb2007010.jpg In spite of the winds, amazingly, the Blue Heron Nests stayed intact! http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...y07Sunset2.jpg and while I am in the sharing mood, this is our sky last night at sunset (about 6 p.m.) http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...Feb2007001.jpg and looked what poked out of the ground! xo for now, Addy |
Nice to see you posting Addy and to show us a crocus..sure sign that spring is on the way. :) We had thunder here last night...still lots of snow on the ground.
Doody, I hope you are sleeping like a baby. |
HI and thanks all.
I had a terrible headache all day yesterday and last night. Used 2 Imitrex sprays and it didn't work. Still have a headache today. And yes, today my knee is telling me it's been invaded. I finally just took some pain pills (Tylenol 3, geesh) and hope they help. I'm going to lay back down but thought you'd get a kick out of my lovely white stocking and giganticus knee bandage. Hugs for all. http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...oody/knee6.jpg http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...oody/knee4.jpg http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...oody/knee3.jpg I'm...too sexy for my sox... My tighty whitey sox... Too sexy for my sox, yes I am LOLOL The tight sox are to keep swelling down and blood clots at bay. Have to leave the darned thing on until I see surgeon on the 6th. And supposed to wear one on my other leg for 3 days. :thud: Those pictures are awesome Addy! |
Well, it's about time  I've been waiting to hear from you all day *teasing* .... I have been so concerned about you weather.
That bandage is AWFUL and you have to leave it on until next Tuesday? Lots of sponge bathing, huh? Well, who cares, if you don't have too much pain? |
LOL yes. No tub or whirlpool, only showers. I can take the giganticus bandaging off Sunday and use bandaids.
And yes the weather here is fierce. They closed down I-80 going west and I-35 north of us. Blizzard conditions. I just hope the electricity holds out. The storm this last weekend left 100,000 homes without electricity. We're on the edge of the storm so far. |
Owwwwwwwwwwwww. I'm sending gentle head rubs your way. I hope you feel better.
Wow everybody is getting such fierce weather. I hope you stay warm and safe. P.S. Huggies wipes are good for those sponge baths! |
 doody
i know getting up and going potty ain't too much fun right now...but drinking lots of water will help you heal. eating protien and taking your vitamins too. especially zinc. i do see they marked your leg. lol. smart. i heard the horror stories of people having surgery on the wrong limb. take it easy hon. do as your dr says. |
Oh my goodness Doody, are you sure that bandage isn't too tight on your leg? I know you don't know me but I want to send get well wishes your way and a speedy recovery!
|
oh my goodness... I saw that YES on your leg Doody... and I couldn't understand why until I read what Curious said! I had no idea they would write YES on a leg. wow, I'm glad they wrote YES on the right leg :winky:
|
LOL Curious, I'm surprised anybody saw that. I was going to take a picture of it. The nurse had me write it on the correct leg before surgery. I was going to put a smiley face on it and some other graffiti but the nurse took the pen away from me.
The YES is right above the bandage wrap under the stocking. I did end up starting the Tylenol 3 yesterday and took it about every 4-5 hours and it did help some, and my headache is FINALLY gone. My kids tried to drive to town today for work, dummies! They had to turn around and go back. I80 and I35 are still closed because of the blizzard. The problem is still some light snow and high winds. Cable went out but just came back on. Thank you all, you're all such good friends, I appreciate the well wishes. And Curious, boy you hit the nail on the head. Getting up from anything is hard, but getting up from the toilet is REALLY hard. Sitting down on the toilet is hard, come to think of it. It does feel a tad bit better today but then I haven't been walking around much yet. Love you all. :grouphug: |
You are going in the right direction...it feels better because you are staying off it! Please continue to rest. Warm hugs...stay warm.
|
I imagine it will take a bit of pt to get you feeling better dear {{{doody}}}
I had to write on my left arm when i had the rotater cuff surgery last june, for the same reason..Kinda scarey, but for good reasons,i guess! So glad to hear your headache went away at least. Take care and be thankfull you dont have to be one of those venturing out in that nasty weather. |
I hope you are getting lots of rest dearie. Pain free hugs!
|
I noticed that YES on your leg too, Doody.
Made me relieved. My daughter had to have a kidney removed last year unfortunately and about a month prior to that had ended up in hospital with septicaemia. Her surgeon was away so another one was filling in for the week. Her regular Urology specialist was around and he's the one who got this other guy to treat her in the hospital. The fill-in surgeon had never had seen my daughter before, but he had all the dozens of test results and scans etc.. So, to cut a long story short, he needed to place a stent in her left kidney, but he kept confusing himself by saying he had to make sure it was the *right* kidney. sheesh. Anyway, I was half living at the hospital with my daughter and this was a huge concern to me, even though he was only placing a stent. I figured, heck, what if he put it in the wrong kidney... anyway, he didn't, but a month or so later when she had to have the kidney and ureter removed, this played on my mind and I went over and over and over with our regular surgeon that it was the LEFT kidney. All the theatre staff were quite funny about it and they put a big X in the correct side.... but shesh, after the first mix up I was making sure even while I was waiting with her in the room before she went into theatre. I kept mentioning it. However, if they'd taken the other one out she'd have none. so the moral of the story is really that surgeons and nursing staff and everyone else should be careful with their terminology. They should never use the word "right" when there are 2 of something in the body and one of them they're about to work on or remove. :) |
:p I had that breast surgery last April and ..... you guessed it ..... a nurse came into the prep room and asked which breast I expected to have the surgery preformed upon. I said, "the left of course". She handed me a marker and asked me to draw an X ..... I did.
|
Oh that's so true. I'm glad everything went okay Lara.
Yes, I've had 3 boob surgeries, or is it 4, and every time they've put a great big X on the spot with the cyst. I've rested a lot today and have done my exercises, but they are hard. Leg lifts, hold to the count of 10, 10 times, 3xday. Yuck. Hugs for all. |
Hi Doody, glad to hear you've been resting.
Those exercizes will get easier and easier. Keep taking care of yourself there. |
How goes it today? How long are you going to be off work?
Pain-free hugs! |
|
Thanks everybody.
I took the big bandage off and put bandaids on the incisions. I think my knee looks as big as it did with the bandage on! You should have seen me with plastic wrapped around my knee held on by duct tape. So I could take a shower. You should have seen me when I took the duct tape OFF. LOL But it worked. I'm going back to work tomorrow and dreading it. I'm walking around or should I say limping. Tuesday I get the stitches out. Hugs for every1!!! |
Poor {{{{doody}}}}
I hope you dont have to walk alot at work today!!! I wish you could have taken more time off to heal, but understand why you cant. Please"limp"slowly so's you wont fall down:) Take care~ |
Ahhhhh Doody --Just think - at this time tomorrow your stitches will be gone, you won't need duct tape ..... :p ...... Life is good.
Wishing you ALL things good. |
Be careful Miz Doody!
|
Well I got the stitches out, replaced with steri strips, I think, and am still not supposed to soak in a tub for another week! Egads, I miss my whirlpool.
I told the doc I almost went to emergency yesterday late. Fell asleep on the couch and woke up with godawful pain on the inside of my knee and couldn't move a muscle. Every time I tried the pain was excruciating and I thought, oh crap, I broke something. After about 10 minutes it subsided and I was able to roll over and get off the darned couch. So anyway, the doc said it was my kneecap causing the disturbance. He said he did a lot of 'spring cleaning' in my knee in addition to the repairs. Said my knee was a mess. Did some work shaving a lot of stuff away. Lordy, makes me sick thinking of it. So I said, "Well! You told me you were up and doing 8 surgeries the day after your knee scope, and I've had tons of people tell me at work that they were up and about after 2 days, so I tried really hard to keep myself up and moving and resting in between." He told me I went overboard and need to continue to realllllyyyy take it easy. That he did a lot of work in my knee and I was not everybody else. Then my mom says "Well when he came in after surgery he told you to stay off your feet for the rest of the week and only walk as tolerated." Hello. I was like...numb brain at the time and that's what my parents were there for, to listen and relate to me at a later time, LOL. Anyway, yeah I have to go back to work, I don't have enough leave to stay away. I start a few rounds of PT starting Friday. And I can at least take the stocking off at night. They said to continue to wear it for a couple of weeks or until I feel comfortable enough not to have it on and the swelling is down. Oi vey. |
I've been worried about you all day long. Yeah yeah yeah...a woman overdid it...we've heard that before doc! Reminds me of when the doctor put me on bedrest when I was pregnant with Michael and had a two year old Robert to take care of...give me strength.
I wish you didn't have to go to work. Can you sit most of the day? Do you have far to walk from your car? I'd be asking for one of those campus Cushman's to come get me everyday if I was you. Healing hugs Doody. |
