We have a ghost in our house.
 

I might have mentioned this to you guys before but it really seems real and unexplainable the things that have been happening.
Doors opening,
Drawers opening,
pillows knocked off the couch,
chair knocked over tonight
our heat turned off
the stove burner turned on high
I was locked in my bathroom from the inside
cats were shut in our bed rooms
all of these things have been happenning to us over the past couple of years but these things have been happening very frequently now.
I don't know what to do.
Our living room is shut off from the rest of the house and that is where the latest things have been happening.
I was visiting a friends house when hubby texted me that the doors and the drawer and the pillows and the chair had been knocked over...all at once in a closed room that the cats can't get to.
I was afraid to come home tonight.

Are you doing remodeling? Any subways, trains, A DUH thing, but when De was on Effexor she did paintings, put the heat up, empty drawers looking for something unkn. Locked a cat out of the house, never knew she left her out.
Ambien did the same thing....she would make food leave on the stove.

I like the ghost story better. They are not very subtle, strange?
do you have a tape recorder you could leave on? Video?

In Ghost Hunters TAPs advises the home owners to sit down talk to the ghost and take back the home.
Can you research if there was a previous owner that passed away?

Oh, Bizi one last thought, neighbor kids breaking in and pranking. We actually had one woman had a guy living in her attic for weeks. Finally a slight ajar closet tile and food disappearing the police found the guy.

hi there...we really can't explain these things that are happening.
Jeff is really a non believer in ghosts but there is no other explanation.
But tonight we both asked them to leave.... to go away...that they were frightening us.
Don't know if that will work but will post more if it doesn't...

I hoped it worked.
Lots of religions have traditions that involve a spiritual person coming over to bless the house. A Catholic priest will do that for example.

There is probably someone you know who knows some one who can help you.

Maybe they can't realize they can go through a door when it is closed. Open it and invite them to leave. Tell them that the neighbors have more rooms.

I had a few experiences. Really odd, but I remember one night after Dad passed having the cupid pedestal soap holder slide across the toilet tank, no moisture, moved slow, inched across and fell into the garbage can. I was real nice and said dad, if you want to visit would you wait in the living room, I will be right out. We spent many hrs watching night line and shows when waiting for the election results in 2000 before he passed away, I felt it was his way to let me know he still was part of my life.

Man charged with living in attic uninvited waives court hearing

WILKES-BARRE - A man accused by Plains Township police with living in an attic of a home uninvited waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Central Court earlier today.

Stanley Wayne Carter, 21, of Arkansas, waived two counts each of burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass to Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas.

Prosecutors withdrew two counts of criminal trespass against Carter.

Township police alleged in arrest records that Carter was staying in the attic of Stacy Ferrance's home on Wyoming Street from Dec. 19 to Dec. 26.

Ferrance said she didn't know Carter was in her attic.

Carter entered Ferrance's residence through a hatch in the ceiling and stole food and Christmas gifts, police claim.

Luzerne County Chief Public Defender Basil Russin represented Carter.

Assistant District Attorney Nancy Violi prosecuted.

it/they are able to pass thru doors because things have happened in other parts of the house too.
but mainly in the living room. We don't want to open up the room because the cats have their claws and use the furniture we want that rooms furniture to stay nice. I do know of a psychic...hmmmm

In some traditions, it is bad luck to close off rooms of a house.

The house is supposed to be fully open and fully functioning.

The good energy is supposed to be able to move freely about the house.
The bad energy should leave or never come in to start with.

You don't need a church. You need a a healer. You can find someone who does that work if you start asking around.

To convince them otherwise, you have to open the doors completely and leave them open. Let the cats have full run of the place.

Who cares about the furniture?? (Are your serious??) The ghosts will move on after you tell them that they need to leave now.

I don't know...time will tell.
I know that I should not be so materialistic about our furniture....there is this one chair that hazel goes to and thinks it is a scratching post everytime! It is orange chordaroy and I love it.
I should work on this the big room has 2 pocket doors that have french doors with glass hung so you can see thru them. Jeff uses the furniture to dry his sweaters. We used to have a cat (hobbes)that peed on cloth furniture and that is why we had those doors put on/replaced the solid doors. To keep him out. now we have 2 cats with claws...they have already ruined the futon in the family room...it is shredded, I try to hide it with a quilt but the quilt keeps falling down. Jeff plays with them and they scratch the furniture.... everything else in the family room is whicker.

I just spoke with a friend of mine...she said I needed to smudge my house using sage. I am not sure about this but she told me to bring the sage around my house specifically in the corners of rooms.
I will look into this smudging.....
jeff is not home and I am afraid to go to bed....
this is not helping my mental health at all.
I did not sleep well last night listening to all the sounds in our house....
it is making me paranoid.
I have been running a bit hypo manic so this is not helping me at all.
jeff should be home soon he has been recording with his zydeco band.
One of my favorite tea cups got broken on my bathroom counter, scared me...the cat must have done that....made me jump straight out of my chair.
I need to take my meds....NOW!

You have to do this in every corner and closet in the house.
Whole Foods carry sage. A wiccan store or a crystal store will carry it too.
Buy a few different kinds. It is is relatively cheap.

But I too would not want them in my house.

So I say just tell them to leave as many ways as you can.

Maybe you can find a way to leave the doors open at least when you
are home.

yes they have a scratching post tht they both use2 out of the 3 cats are good it is hazel and this one chair that she uses and it is very noticable when she uses it....thank youf orthe links I will read them later.

Oh Bizi, I am so sorry this is happening, I imagine it is terrifying, I have used sage before on an apartment but I can't recall if it worked or not. I hope things calm down at your home soon. :(

or maybe (going on the ghost thing here) a spirit was trapped in that living room and doesn't "like" that room being shut off like that... and is acting up to ask you to open it. i am with Mari to open it.

in your parts you should be able to find...

and Obeah practitioner for consultation and cleansing ritual

what are you taking to sleep nowadays?
when someone says "there is NO other explanation" it suggests to me they have closed their minds to other explanations.
... in this case, it suggests you aren't open to this not being a ghost.

can you do something... i dunno, go to sleep with coloured chalk on your fingertips.... see if you find your own prints....?

that is one example - what i am saying is,

can you/can others here, think of some simple, empirical tests to do, to leave some kind of a trail/trace between the acts and the actors in these scenarios....

some events, don't forget might be coincidences. i personally think the bathroom door was a coincidence, perhaps because i got stuck in a bathroom liek that once. not very new house. stupid door didn't even shut well most of the time. that time, it was like it was locked tight! i WAS scared.

This should help. Do you have any weegie boards,small idols,or occultic souvenirs in your house? If you do could you take them out of the house. This should help.

Then you can anoint the house with olive oil. Make a cross of olive oil over your doors. Just a small amount will do. BF:hug::hug::hug:

BF raises a good point about the olive oil crosses, that is something my mom did on our old house and I slept better afterwards. Try that first and if you still have issues with weirdness going on get some sage...I hope the olive oil does the trick though, hang in there Bizi! Great suggestion Brokenfriend! :)

this sounds like the right way to go.:
FOR HOUSE CLEANSING: To cleanse and bless your house or apartment, again use the entire bundle to light. Open your front door. Go to the back of the house, and cover as much of the room as you can reach. Be sure to hold the bundle as high as you can. Don't forget the corners of the rooms. Work from the back toward the open door at the front. Go into every room, including bathrooms, closets, utility rooms, kitchen...everywhere. When you get to the front door, say "Anything not here for the highest and best good of those who live here, be gone. You are not wanted, and you are not welcome. This home has been cleansed and blessed." Then walk out the door, close it, and sage around the door and door frame. Leave the bundle outside to burn itself out. Make sure you put it on dirt, or on something that will not burn.

That is good.
You might need to re-light the sage during the process.
Hold something under the sage stick because it will drop little embers. (I use a plate covered in tin-foil.)
There is no exact way to do this. The GOOD intentions matter more than the method.

Watch your fire alarms. We have electric fire alarms that get set off by smoke like this.


Depending on the sage you buy, the smoke could have strong smell.

is it mostly noises going on and little things out of place?

could be you have acquired a squatter from the animal kingdom.... say a coon or possum... they are nocturnal... also you might not see them if they don't want to be seen. maybe that's what was in the cupboard... heard you coming and hid very very well...

meantime, i see no harm in blessing the house and or doing cleansing rituals.

and quite frankly i would use strong smelling sage. it might get rid of the problem regardless of form. little furry friends generally do not like smoke. i would leave cupboards open when you do it.

i am glad Jeff is not doing somethign to spook you. and also that both of you are witness... i.e. that it is not your meds or state of mind.

Well even though there has not been any activity in the house since tuesday I still bought the smudge stick and went thru the whole house and blessed it. I used sage and cedar and sweet grass.
of course the whole house smells like smoke....:rolleyes:
jeff guarded the front door so the cats could not leave, they wanted to for sure open front door and all.
Well I am happy with the smudging. makes me feel better.

Gee, I never thought about it. but could it have been a cat ghost?
I just recalled in the last two weeks twice dh complained about the cat being closed in the bedroom and jumped up on the bed. The first time it was near his faces and he pushed the pillow it climbed on. Came out asked what cat it was. They all sat there looking at him.

Last week he came out again. asked me to come in and get the cat out of the room. It walked across the bed and when he got up to scoot it out he could not find it.
Well. again the cats and I sat here looking at him. DD and I telling him it must be Mr. Kitty thinking I was in the bed, let him alone.
