purses

sometimes i can wear a crossbody fine sometimes i cant at all

i definite cannot "hold my purse" that is too exhausting

how do you all deal with this?

Jomar 03-16-2011 12:11 PM

I switched to a soft light weight backpack type purse. leather or leather like.

I can carry it or unzip the straps and wear it like a backpack, the softness conforms to how full it is as well as flattens and doesn't jab you like the thick /firm leather.

I wore out 2 of the soft leather ones so got one with a little firmer leather this time, but I reall liked the ones I got from Amazon better than this new one - it was on sale and my other one had gotten a hole it it, so i didn't want to wait for a online ordered one to arrive.

here's the soft one from Amazon-

HEY,

I HAVE LITTLE USE FOR AN EXPENSIVE PURSE AFTER TOS ! ! ! !

DAMN, I HATE THAT.

...AND NO MORE HIGH HEELS BECAUSE OF BACK AND NECK. DRESSING REQUIREMENTS CERTAINLY HAVE CHANGED.

NEED FLEECE WARM FOR UPPER BODY - COLD STUFF FOR HOT FLASHES - NO PANTS TO PREVENT LOWER BACK IRRITATION. MISERABLE. . . .

WHEN I DO GO IN, IT'S USUALLY FOR SOMETHING IN PARTICULAR. I CARRY NECESSARY ID AND CREDIT CARDS, CASH (PREFER RIGHT, FRONT PANT) IN CLOTHES POCKETS.

I DON'T WRITE MANY CHECKS BUT WILL TAKE CHECK AND PEN IN HAND IF NECESSARY. I PREFER TO USE CREDIT CARDS AND GET REWARDS.

ACTUALLY, I DON'T SHOP AS MUCH. QVC & HSN, SWANNS FOOD, STAPLES, MPB (FURTURE USE), RESTAURANT DELIVERY, HUSBAND DOES THE REST. I SHOP ABOUT TWICE A MONTH. MAYBE UP TO 5 IF I'M LOOKING FOR SOMETHING SPECIAL. DIDN'T REALLY REALIZE THAT, EITHER. TIME PASSES BY SO QUICK.

I HAVE RESORTED TO CARRYING STUFF IN MY BRA ! ! ! A YOUNG CHECKOUT GIRL CAUGHT ME AND SAID, "I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DID THAT. I THOUGHT MY GRANNY ONLY DID THAT. OMG!" :D :o:p you do what you have to do

I HAVE PUT STUFF IN MY SOCKS - THAT DIDN'T WORK OUT TOO GOOD. THE EXTRA WEIGHT CAUSES SOCK TO SLID DOWN LEG. MAY LOOSE STUFF THAT WAY.

I HAVE CARRIED STUFF IN MY SHOE.

I HAVE A DOG PAW HOOK, IN MEMORY OF MY BEST DOGFRIEND MAGGIE, FOR MY KEYS I R E L I G I O U S L Y HOOK ON THE RIGHT HIP WHEN OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND IN MY PURSE WHEN NOT USING THEM.

THEY MAKE THOSE NEW ALUMINUM WALLETS FOR CREDIT CARD PROTECTION. I'M GOING TO GET THAT. THAT WILL SOLVE TWO PROBLEMS FOR ME.

YOU DO HAVE TO ACCOMMODATE AND THEN ADJUST YOUR NEEDS. IT'S A CONSTANT TWEAKING PROCESS. DON'T GIVE UP.

Jomar 03-16-2011 11:05 PM

High heels are horrible for your feet anyway LOL :)
my mom has some nasty bunions, not a pretty sight.

I do remember during the really bad times I purposely bought coats & jackets with deep zip up pockets - just so I could carry my basics and they would be zipped up and secure.

Also have a couple fanny packs from before I found the backpack bag.

mspennyloafer 03-17-2011 10:00 AM

hahahaha stuffing things in your boobs!!

jomar that purse actually does look very comfortable

i dont see how you all deal with this. its affected my appearance bc i am SO LAZY, no makeup, no styling my hair, i lie on my bed to put on my pants bc i dont want to bend over and pull them up. im very particular about things getting near/around my neck. i dont like layering my clothes anymore but i really need to when i ride the bus (that in and of itself can be very uncomfortable too).

shoes, tying my shoes is exhausting.

i cut my own hair and thank god its thick or else youd see what a hack job it is.

mspennyloafer 03-17-2011 10:04 AM

yeah my keys are really heavy i dont like having them in my purse

Jomar 03-17-2011 12:28 PM

I've cut my own hair for ages , have to do in sections as my arms get tired after awhile.
kind of a shag/mullet LOL short around the face and gradually longer to the back.
it's thick & curly/wavy so hides most boo boos.

only wear makeup for special occasions

bulky or heavy coats - can't handle them at all

DiMarie 03-17-2011 10:22 PM

Sometimes it is not the cross body but what we put in it.

My Nylon Bagellini; has a small pack tissues, chap-stick, eyeglasses, pen. Lidoderm patch and one day pills. The tiniest brush in the world.

I carry my cell phone in my bra...yuck, but if with dh that is all I need.
I have a wristlet ID, cards, cell and cash.
Usually I can keep it in the waist carrier, but the wristlet protects the magnetic strip in my card, and holds the cell snug. Love my hands free blue tooth too,

If alone, I have the wristlet and it fits the cell phone in the back. It was a treat from Vera Bradley, on clearance and $5 shipping or free with the order can't remember.

Now in the car is my real bag, with one of those Kangaroo carrier so I can switch from one to another.

The closest thing to high heels I have are Croc's
I actually have one pair that have a strap sandals with heel. Not too high and are for not really walking. Croc's Mary Jane for the summer, and Croc's band with limited fleece for winter.

sneakers I have Sketchers that are like Mary Jane's, one dressy pair and one neutral with airy weave top area. Then a functional RYKA that have a lot of room and no pinching. I put in gel inserts for cushion.

(Broken Wings) 03-19-2011 06:57 AM

Do you remember where you got your wristlet?

Can you take a pic or post a url for it? I'd like two of those, please... :d

I traded looks for comfort too.

I can't believe my haircuts looked as good as they did...:D

Hairdryer on a stand saved me from a lot of pain back in the day.

Macy's: Wallet on a String

Lots of places for cards, checkbook and folding money (I jam my cell in there too).

Also: a carabiner to hold my 3 sets of keys. When I go into a store, I drop 2 sets of keys in the car and hook my car keys to the wallet on a string.

I bought this one at Vera Bradley.com it was a treat to myself. I like that I can keep it in a larger purse and carry it into a shop.

Click on Colors on Sale for the $25 ones.

This was the one I ordered, they are $25 for sale colors, if you get on the email notice then once a month there are $5. shipping.

I think their prices are very high and wish I could find something like this and durable at a less cost.
There is no room for a check book, but I use the debit card anyway. I just wanted a nice cell phone case and something secure for my cards and ID.

The Verizon and other cell phone cases in leather were just as pricey. and did not have a place for my ID and cards.

OzKira 03-19-2011 09:26 PM

I prefer to use a small coin purse and light handbag for carrying everything. I repack or change bags depending on where I am going and what I am doing. Purses are such a pain and often I prefer to use my card rather than cash and coins which I can't manage to handle without dropping.

Don't get me started on clothing lol I have had to resort to LARGE tops as the rubbing of the fabric under my arms near my chest drives me nuts. As I swell up as each day progresses Bra's are a pain the the bum. I mostly go without although the weight of my boobs probably don't help the TOS when I go bra free.

More recently the lower limbs have gone out in sympathy and swelling occurs in the lower parts now too. Taken to wearing scuffs and thongs which are a size larger. Closed in shoes come off soon after putting on.

Looking forward to ageing and living for another 40 odd years:rolleyes:. Sadly for me might be 50+ years as longevity runs in my genes with 3 grandparents all in their 90's. I am hoping I have the gene's of my grandfather than passed away in his 60's. I laugh with my mum all the time telling her I may be in my 40's but in reality I am in my 80's lol Lucky we can all laugh about our own circumstances :D

THX

I CAN'T WEAR A WATCH OR BRACELET ON MY WRISTS. I COULD HOOK IT TO A BELT LOOP, THOUGH.

YEAH, KEEPING IT TOGETHER IN OUR "REAL" PURSE AND READY TO TAKE OUT LIKE THAT IS NICE, WITH THE CELL, TOO. THAT'S GREAT.

DO THE VERA BRADLEY'S HAVE THE ALUMINUM TO PROTECT THE STRIPS ON OUR CREDIT CARDS, FROM THE ID THIEVES? THAT WORRIES ME.

YOU CAN PUT ALUMINUM FOIL AROUND THE CARDS OR MAYBE TAPE THE INSIDE OF THE CARDHOLDER, IF YOUR ABLE, WITH ALUM FOIL. :Scratch-Head:

DITTO ON THE CLOTHES AND SHOES AND SOCKS. I USUALLY TAKE SCISSORS AND NIP THE BAND AROUND THE TOPS OF MY SOCKS.

I'M THINKING LYMPHATIC FLUID PROBLEM. THE KINESIO TAPE HELPS WITH THAT FEELING A LOT. ALTHOUGH IF YOU TAPE IT TOO TIGHT, IT WILL CAUSE MUSCLE SPASMS TOO.

AND BRAS ARE A THING OF THE PAST. ONLY FOR THE PUBLIC'S BENEFIT.
AT ONE TIME, I ALSO HAD A TAPING FOR MY BREASTS, UPPER BODY LIFTING AND SIDE TAPING, STERNUM, UP AND OVER THE TOP OF MY SHOULDER, TAPED SCAPULAS AND MY POSTURE WAS BETTER. I COULD BREATH MUCH EASER. I HAD TO CUT DIVETS ON EACH SIDE OF THE KINESIO TAPE SO IT WOULD MOVE, MOLD, FIT TO CONTOURS. I WOULD ALSO SPLIT TAPE TO ENCIRCLE THE NIPPLES :o:o ... I GUESS YOU WOULD NEED TO SEE THE TAPE CUTS AND TAPED ON A MANICAN PROBABLY TO UNDERSTAND. IT WAS A RELIEF. OF COURSE MY SCALENES WERE TAPED TOO, AND ARMS, THUMBS, ETC.

ME AND MY THERAPIST DID SOME PHOTOS. I'LL GRAB THAT URL SO YOU CAN SEE.

here it is...
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread104454.html

My therapist uses KINESIO TAPE. My doctors don't want to know about it. LOL you have to try things ;) oh. My therapist kept telling me she wanted to put the "GLOW IN THE DARK" KINESIO TAPE ON ME. She's so funny :D

I JUST WANT TO RUN AWAY AND LET IT ALL HANG OUT SOMETIMES, BUT I CAN'T TAKE THE COLD TEMPERATURES ON MY LEFT UPPER ARM FOR SURE AND THEN MY UPPER BODY. I HATE HAVING TO BABY MY ARM. :Sob:

DiMarie 03-20-2011 05:22 PM

I have a three way clip, strap and hang shoulder clutch from Walmart of all places. The front for the cell and then behind it for the cards. no coin area, but

I have the carabinera hooks too for the keys. i must have a dozen I found at Sears.

hippoinsamui 03-23-2011 12:32 AM

FANNY PACK. thats all.
yep all the designers bags and heels are allll tucked away. ebay some of them already.

hippoinsamui 03-23-2011 10:09 PM

LOL. thats very similar to me!!! its funny to see someone who has the same sense of humor which one could only laugh about it in this situation.

:D

I went braless about a year now, but wear a tank bra. It is called Tummylicious. I am huge 42DD and wear the xl, it is cotton chest and sweep, or bra area, and spandex etc on the tummy. Nothing weighs on the shoulders. Not very glam shaping but gets the boulder load off and is discreet.
http://milo.com/tummylicious-womens-nylon-slimming-tank

This is another from Walmart Sweet nothings by maiden form I think.
Show this number 0001467114062 to a Walmart associate to find this item in your store.

they are considered CAMI's with a kick. It does not carry on my shoulders, I can't stand the digging. This has been a relief. Along with having something to wear under string strap tops in the summer heat.

I have a few bras that have the padded shoulders too, but I like that I can wear this under any top.It hugs the girls to me.
