Great rock! I bet you brought that with you? ;) ;)
Do you know what it is? The square crystals are intriguing. If you don't know, I'll try and look it up for you, but that will be difficult. (we have puddingstones here we've brought from upNorth. ;) ) He really looks nice on the red rock. Complementary colors and all! Don't let him sell you any car insurance tho! LOL I'll never forget when I was visiting N.Carolina, and driving down the Outer Banks to Ocracoke. I stopped at a rest stop and approached a trash container to throw something away, and the whole can (a brown domed can with a swinging lid type) vibrated and moved! I let out a screech and the gal running the information booth next to it started laughing. Happens all the time... The whole large can was COVERED in brown chameleons! Must have been a hundred at least! She said they sit there to eat the flies that accumulate from the trash. Who would have thought in moderate climate N. Carolina they would be there ??? I hardly saw any in S. Fla, when I visited there one Oct. |
Lots here. I talk to my gekkos and they actually answer me back. :D True story. If you copy their "click" sounds then they'll click you back.
They're great for eating the mozzies and other insects. Hard to keep them out of the house here though and they can be a little messy but I'd much rather have my lovely gekkos than all the mosquitoes and spiders. Got to keep an eye on my kitty though so she doesn't catch them as trophies for me. eeek |
Aw, he's a cutie! We have them here, too, but I haven't seen any this season yet.
We used to have one that would sun himself on the railing on my back porch. Same place every day. The cats would sit inside and watch him like a hawk. |
Different sides of the globe. Yours is so green. Ours are motley brown/grey.
. Lived in the tropics and sub-tropics all my life. I think of gekkos around the home as a great thing indeed I see many every week. Often they hide in dark places. e.g. I had a market umbrella I hadn't opened for a long time because of the flooding rain. When I did finally open it this week I found there were gekkos living up in the peak. |
Florida is lizard land ;) from tiny little gray "garden lizards" to the large alligators:eek:
this is the first green guy I have seen in the 20 yrs I have lived here in the swamp tho mrsD, my rock collection comes all the way from Africa...the Namib desert to be exact :D I will take some pics to show you more details.......... back in a bit :) |

Wow.... those are beautiful. I have some I've collected too over the years! We find fossils up north sometimes.
I bought mine tho...you were lucky to find such specimens where you used to live! Your set up is lovely. We are similar in that way I guess! ;) Thanks for showing! |
the white thing in my one dish of small stones is a Walrus tusk that I found while collecting shells on the beach near Cape Point (Cape Town, southern tip where the Atlantic & Indian oceans meet)
the blue stone carved into an owl was done by a friend of mine, and the green tray that my keys are in is carved from a hunk of malachite. My duck candle is sitting on a carved piece of another semi precious stone, the name of which escapes me for now My trip to Namibia was one of the most special I have ever had! Deep in an area that original Bushmen (The San peoples) still inhabit |
