New topical cream
I have just received an email from a US company selling Reunion Topical Cream for PN - anyone heard of this. here is the email copied
After considerable arm twisting, the President of Pure Biomed (I have deleted website) finally relented and approved a promotion for National Neuropathy Week. Usually, marketers shout Hurrahs and throw confetti about a seasonal offer. His concern was how do you "celebrate" or "honor" a malady that inflicts so much pain and suffering on so many people? Still, Reunion wants to thank all who overcame their skepticism for online topical pain relief applications and found out first hand they can get hours of pain relief without side effects using Reunion. Thank you! For you and anyone else who would like to find out for themselves, ReunionPN is offering FREE shipping of any item(s) at www.ReunionPN.com through May 20, 2011. This represents a savings as much as 33% depending on the size of your order. Along with a 30-day money back guarantee, how can you go wrong? The only catch? You have to live in the continental U.S. Best wishes for pain-free days! I have asked the company who has given them my details, so will keep you Oates if they respond. |
They do NOT tell their ingredients:
from their website for the oil version in the bottle: Quote:

oh, email spam? Another reason to ditch the offer!
BTW the website says "affordable PN treatment" and that little oil bottle? 34.95! ppfffffttt! That little bottle has 15 milliliters (cc) in it, or 1/2 ounce. |
Ingredients and Price
I'm sure the ingredients are on the product label. That's a requirement.
And I guess compared to Neuragen at $60 ... $35 doesn't sound bad. |
well, I know nothing about this product but looking at the company website I cannot find any name, address or phone number and that is *always* a red flag to me
reputable companies post their full contact info on their websites IMHO |
Most of these products made for PNers, contain geranium oil.
I have posted the patent for this oil, for use for pain relief elsewhere on this forum. So I am not going to repeat that. One can buy NOW brand geranium oil, for $11.46/ounce and that is essential in form, and requires dilution. So it will last a while at that price. (price quote from iherb.com) Since we really don't know what the ingredients of the oil from Reunion are, there is no way to evaluate it. No ingredients and no address of this "scientific company".. = AVOID IMO. On the website buried in another section is a comment about geranium oil: http://www.reunionpn.com/Frequently_...tions_s/52.htm |

Seems pretty mainstream to me. |
Geranium Patent and Disclosure
Quote:
Don't be coy ... the patent number is 5,260,313 dated 11/9/1993. The inventor clearly states: >>A variety of species of geranium plants exist throughout the world, with most having approximately the same chemical constituents in the extracted oil. However, one species which grows almost uniquely in the Reunion Islands, Pelargonium graveolens, Ait., has a unique chemical composition. << Gee ... that doesn't sound like any old geranium oil will do to me. |
sorry but I disagree that is "mainstream"
A company should post it's full contact info *on the website* JMHO You seem pretty defensive of the product Ptuii. Makes me wonder if perhaps you have a connection to it? |
I thought we were searching for "truth"

If ReunionPN is selling snake oil, someone went to a lot of trouble to do it. |
Let's be HONEST shall we?
NOW brand geranium oil: http://www.nowfoods.com/Products/Per...ts/M003682.htm Quote:
http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/52...scription.html You know what I think? And don't fool yourself...ptuii... we are not naive here on this board. I think you have a product very similar to Neuragen and you won't put up the ingredients because they will come after YOU. Granted some people may choose to use your product which you are launching since your press release of 4-6-11. But many will choose to ignore you too. And those who choose a company who is evasive, and secretive, it is their choice after all. From 1993 to now? If geranium graveolens were so successful, we'd see more people using it wouldn't we? 18yrs to establish a following... and still not? Many of us here get relief from good old epsom salts, and/or Biofreeze gel at a fraction of the costs of your products! |
I would not exactly call Reunion a "snake oil".... it is one of many products who come here trying to sell to our members.
They do not offer much in the way of "treatment" and the geranium oil part may help with minor discomfort if that. But these oils are extremely expensive, unless the consumer finds a quality alternate, like NOW brand offers. We tend to shed light on products here, because there are SO MANY coming here doing what you are doing, ptuii. It is the Reunion company's choice to be secretive. It is not us shining light on that fact at fault. |
Me thinks someone is upset, I received this email tonight:
Hi, Arlene ... Since you seem very concerned about "snake oil" being peddled to people suffering from neuropathy, I am providing you the following list of Reunion ingredients, which are also on the label. * Please note that each ingredient is pharmaceutical grade and Reunion products are manufactured in an inspected FDA laboratory also insuring the legitimacy of the ingredients. Vitis Vinifera (Grapeseed) Oil ... inactive base carrier Hydrogenated Palm Kernal Oil ... inactive base carrier Geranium Maculatum Reunion Oil ... GENUINE oil from the Reunion Islands Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Oil Monarda Punctata (Bergamot) Oil Eucalyptus Globulus (Eucalyptus) Oil Camomilla Recuitita (Chamomile) Oil Blue Co2 Lavandula Angustiolia (Lavender) Oil, Hungarian Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Oil, Antioxidant, CO2 I don't see any "snake oil" in the list of ingredients. *If you don't know the benefits of each of the ingredients, then you have your homework assignment. *I suggest you Google "CO2 Extraction" to see Reunion is using absolutely state of art extraction processes for purity and efficacy. All Customer Reviews posted at the www.ReunionPN.com website are absolutely genuine. * Now ... if you have posted skeptical and unfounded posts on neuropathy message boards ... why not admit there are serious efforts being made to advance the science of pain relief? Regarding your "details?" *I suggest you look anywhere you've posted on message boards and see if they have intentionally made your email information available. Regards, Tegua Why send to me then as I have a UK email, also where did you get my details? its always puzzled me how a company which is professing or promoting a treatment for PN, which in many cases the cause is ideopathic meaning no known cause, so it could well be toxins, could expect those same people who dont know what their cause is to take something which has no list of ingredients readily available or broken down into dosages of each. There is already enough uncertainty in the whole PN process from start to progression. If the formula is proprietary information and you cant tell me then dont expect me to use it.
One could only hope that there is a special circle in hell for those who take advantage of ill, hurting, fearful, desperate souls who only want to be able to function on some level. |
sounds a bit like the messages I received too
thanks for everyone's comments. We usually try not to intervene in member discussions, especially when they are discussing the pros and cons of a product that could have an impact on their health, but I think this thread took a turn when someone posting incognito for the company entered in...... Probably best we close the topic now, and hope you will all make careful and *informed* choices when purchasing anything from anyone you do not know, or have direct contact information for, which includes a mailing address and telephone number, not just "email me" .... ;) |
