I am incredibly STRESSED about finding legal documents
HI,
My state has enacted new burdensome laws for drivers license renewal. I have lived here since the 1970s as a child. They don't care. They want all of this before I can renew my license this time: :yikes: Are they nuts!!!?? :Head-Spin: ~original birth certificate ~social security card --must be in my current name ~two proofs of residence (Lots of this stuff is in hubby's name instead of mine believe it or not because I let him deal with most paperwork) ~proof of name changes through marriage / divorce /marriage / and so on Every time I start to gather what I need, I lose what I had or come upon another stumbling block. Two and a half weeks ago I drove to a court house for a document and got a speeding ticket on the way home. NOW I have lost both the new document and the speeding ticket. :hissyfit: I want a personal assistant or lawyer to take care of my stuff!! This morning, I asked hubby for general support about my getting through this and he freaked out. He went into his OCD-mode about how I need to keep track, about how important this is, about how I should have told him about the speeding ticket. . . . He thinks I make things difficult. I don't know how two such high anxiety people can be put together in a marriage. :rain: =-=- I just took .5 Klonopin so I can go back to sleep. I'll try to do some of this over the phone after I wake up. M. |
whenever i have to deal with agencies i first tell them i am bipolar and i can start crying and laughing and my anxiety goes through the roof. I get a lot of supportive responses from it. Only once was somebody nasty. When you are collecting the information can you take more klonopin a half an hour before. drug yourself up? do you have a friend who can help you. your husband sounds as if he makes it all the worse

that does sound really stressful..try to take one thing at a time.
and not happy with hubby not being supportive. sorry about the speeding ticket, I am terrified of police man and being pulled over. bizi |
well, THAT sounds like an unpleasant day
Mari do you have a passport?
sometimes i think it's worth just getting one done even if you don't travel. i've always travelled so i've always had one. but it seems like a lot of bureaucratical deals required some amazing list of documents, i often found that the passport worked to replace most or all of the amazing list. perhaps because a very similar and strict amazing list is required to get a passport... maybe a bad idea.... but you might then be able to renew the passport using just the DL, too. i am sorry about the speeding ticket. i don't guess you have time to go to school for it do you? it'll keep points off but annoying and time consuming. i did it twice... the second time was actually kinda cool, cos the instructor was open to questions about weird traffic situations or seemingly conflicting laws. thre were interesting questions and precise answers as well as the run o' the mill stuff they "remind" you of. that sounds so difficult with both of you having anxiety. has your tdoc ever suggested ways to work differently with each other when that happens? i guess i'm trying to think of things. i've been fixing bugs all day and now i'm trying to fix you too. sorry. sending you lots of warm thoughts and hugs. and gratitude. you have helped me so much ... not having a job, getting a job, keeping job, keeping sanity....... improving QOL...... i could go on. :circleheart: i hope your evening is calmer and that you have a good, and mellow, Friday.:hug::hug: ~ waves ~ |
Hi,
A passport is almost as difficult as a driver's license. At the time of 9-11 I was holding an expired passport. The rules to renew were changed. People holding an expired passport had to start over. I did not and will not. It is too hard. I only want to pay the $205.00 speeding ticket but I can't find it. I can't make any sense on the phone with the court house. I am crying or spacy or a combination of the two. Hubby is insisting I get a lawyer for the ticket. I told him that I purposely did not not tell him about the ticket because I don't want him involved. He has huge issues with cops. I don't care one way or another. I just need to figure out how to pay the thing before I am late and then mess up getting my driving license renewed. I can't sleep today. I am upset. M. |
Mari
I wonder can you get ahold of the friend that comes and helps you clean at times. I realize you probably don't want to tell her about the ticket either. But maybe she would come and help you find the things you need. And also either find out how to pay the ticket, or help you find it. Also I keep envelopes for the things I am collecting. Just for this one reason. I have this thing about losing things. Also one other idea. Go check your car for the speeding ticket. Just in case its still out there. donna:grouphug: |
If you haven't found the ticket yet....
You might try calling the police department from the issuing police officer. They can tell you what you need to do.... they may also be able to print you a copy of the ticket that you can't find. Abbie |
Hi,
My friend emailed me a link to "Fine Payments" at the court house site. I am going to pay it tomorrow when I am wide awake enough to pay attention. I also have to see if I have any money in my checking account. If I don't then I have to do this Hubby's way (lots of gnashing of teeth). M. |
documents
So sorry you had such a time with getting all your documentation. It is the same here in Fla. to get a licience. I could not believe all the information they now require. It was stressfull for sure. I hope you can bring someone with you to help get through it. I believe this is what most states are doing to keep track of its citizens. ginnie

Will you have to do this every time you renew your license or is it a one time deal? What a PITA!!!!

Indiana is the same we had lots of trouble getting just a ID for Derrick.
So he could vote and other things. Donna:grouphug: |
I remember how stressful it was for me to get things changed after I got married...
I'm sorry Mari :hug::hug::hug::hug: |
I sympathize with you. I find it so difficult to gather info for such things as a license, medical assistance, physician records for my kids...my brain does not work well enough to complete the task. People are so nice and offer great advise, but I don't take it...
I lose papers, i stuff them under couch cusions and stuff...well anyway, i hope all goes well for you from here on out!!!! Take care! |
Progress?
Hi,
I paid my speeding ticket. Next I can request my divorce decree by mail with a whole list of things I have to put in the envelope and then wait several weeks. I spoke to two people. I told the first one I had a stroke. He freaked out. He didn't think he could help me!! I didn't tell the second one anything. OR I can drive to the court house (it's in a different county and I'm not happy about driving in traffic) and bring $10.00. What a freeking hassle. I'm so annoyed. Maybe I should go to bed. M. |
WOw I don't know how i missed this thread Mari, I am glad you paid the ticket, but dang it's a PITA for us divorced ladies to renew our licenses, I think the state just wants extra $$$ from us for document fees. STINKS! I hope you get it done in time....Thinking about you this afternoon. :( :grouphug:

Dmv
Hi,
DMV appointment today. i have everything I need. I hope that I can use my debit card to pay for the license. Maybe i should get some cash on the way. Right now: 1. Need To sleep first When I wake up: 2. Need to map quest the address 2. Need leave here on time and bring everything to my appt. Everything is going to go fine. M |

good luck today. bizi |
I passed!
Hi, Thank you.
I had the right papers with me. They scanned my documents to send to Homeland Security. Then I went to the library for a replacement library card I lost years ago. When the the librarians tried to hassle me, I showed them that I had enough identity papers for Homeland security. They were a bigger hassle than the dmv because their computers were acting up. M |
that's great Mari.... two in one.
well done! :) ~ waves ~ |
Waves,
Yes. Now I can find a young person to get some library iBooks / ebooks to read on my iPod when I have to wait somewhere like a dr's office instead of carrying around a novel. M |
Dear Mari
lol....wow.... would rather read an e-novel..... not me! i like mine on paper! well, thinking about it, i guess screens aren't as big a part of your daily life as they are mine....... as it is, the amount of time i spend with these screens is hard on my eyes. even when i have to read a spec... i print it out. i seem to get lost in it otherwise. or drone out. but later if i need to refer to it for something, i use the electronic version (search is a nice feature to have) but i might just need to see a paragraph. ~ waves ~ |
