A bump is a good thing. People "bump" so that the thread is raised to the top of the page. :bump:

Thanks y'all!

You folks are great.

Sorry to be late stopping by. Had a bit of heat stroke on the way to work yesterday & wound up in the ER, admitted, just signed myself out since they couldn't decide what to do. Been without all meds for 36 hrs....things starting to get ugly!

To begin with, both lips have broken out with fever blisters 'cause I've not had my lysine. I am SO addicted to these drugs. No Cymbalta or topiramate: while I'm aware that the sun might rise tomorrow, I can't think there'll be much sense in me rising. I really doubt I'll ever be able to work again. At the moment I wonder whether I'll be able to drive or do anything. Whiney? Oh yeh.

I've been here before & I know if I just hang on long enough & get the right drugs back at the right levels in my body, I'll be okay. Those idiots in in hospital wouldn't listen to me. They were tunnel-visioned on the heatstroke & I kept telling them there were other things I needed taken care of at the same time.

So that's what's on my mind at the moment.

Sure is nice to be here.

JudeLauren

Man, I would send the administrator of the Hospital a letter.
I would think they broke some kind of law. Not giving you your other
medicines.

I hope you start to get back to normal soon.

You are a great person.

Wow

Dear JudeLauren,

Thank goodness you made it home. That place sounds awful. Maybe it is best to stay away from hospitals for a while.

Eeek!! Wow. I'm so glad that you made it home safely. Be kind to your body and your mind. You went through way too much .. . . especially for what started out as a normal drive to work.

Are you going to stay home on Thursday? You sound like you can use the rest and healing time. http://bestsmileys.com/sleeping/11.gif

Your case reminds me that I used to keep an emergency dose of meds in my purse . . . .in case I ended up in a place like a hospital where I could not get the Xanax I was on at the time . . .

Those of us that live in the hot parts of the country (the sandbox states) have tricks. I used to wet my hair with cold water in the shower (or poured water over my head) before I got in the car. I'd leave the house with wet hair. When it was really hot, I would also let the water hose run across the top of my car for a while before I left. I figured I had cooled the car down a few degrees.
I kept water with me at all times -- to drink and to pour on my head or arms or . . . . Some people wear a wet scarf around their necks that they keep wet with a spritzer (I haven't tried it) . I also kept towels in the car and an extra shirt so I could arrive to the next place without looking wet. Can you keep some fresh shirts / outfits at work?
Now I have a car with good air conditioning and stay home in the summer months.

I hope Thursday goes better for you. Take things easily.

M.

All good ideas, I hate to say though sometimes even with good
air conditioning. Even it can get hot in a car.

Hi there Jude

sorry for the mis-adventure... i agree with writing the administrator... something you can do when you feel better. or if you need something to fill time, maybe better starting now - even just tossing down notes - while recall is still fresh. ugh.

no meds and heat stroke on top.... are you sure the two weren't one and the same... meds causing sx of heat stroke/dehydration?

i hope you feel better soon.:hug::hug:

feelin' better thanx

I took the week off.  :D
This whole thing would have been simpler if it had happened on my home turf, but my job has me traveling; so the HS got me in Denver. The 2-wk supply of meds I carry with me were therefore out-of-state. The hospital eval'd me & I probably would have had most of the stuff pretty soon, but once they'd stabilized me they weren't doing anything medically, so why hang around? To catch some infection they might not know how to cure or run up a bill no one could afford to pay?
Mari, I love your watering ideas! Never thought of hosing the car top. That's a natural, makes good sense. I wear wet clothes all the time, but not for work of course. It's harder since I fly so much & usually take limos or if I'm lucky catch rides. Water in other people's car can be touchy.
I do have this thing that hangs around my neck, has a water reservoir & fan, kind of a portable swamp fan (if you know what that is, if you dont I'd guess you've never been in Arizona...it's poor folks AC).
So I'm tucked in at home, the high desert of New Mexico where healing just naturally happens & I'm happy (if I can be happy). I'm okay anyway, & for the time being I'm grateful for that.
A big  to each of you.

Hi, JudeLauren,

I'm happy that you are safe at home.

I dream about living in that part of the country. You are in a good place for healing. :)

Yes. I know what you are talking about. I've not used one with a portable fan.

I am glad that you took some time off work and that you are home and feeling better.
We lived in arizona before moving to the the south. We loved all of the red rock formations.
it is very flat here highest hill is 550 feet.

BlueCarGal 07-16-2011 09:54 PM

Thanks, bizi. Yeah, it was enough of a scare that I've been real good to me. I'll see my primary MD Monday, then get back to "life as usual" Tuesday I guess.
I've spent a lot of great time in Arizona. Oh, yeah, a 550-ft hill is definitely downsizing. But there's down yet to go.
Besides my New Mexican hovel, I have a tiny FL condo. Altitude? :D 19ft! :ROTFLMAO:
But traveling so much is exhausting. I wish I could retire. Can't see how I ever can...
