Thank you. 'Posting from work.

Hi,

Work was fine except for the heat.
We had almost no air conditioning.
Hurricane Irene is heading toward the Florida Straits.

Did I tell you that my brain is fried from the heat and that I have no energy left!!! I should get in the car and go home to the a/c.

My students were cute-- they try to please on the first day.

Glad it went well, excepting heat. Students are cute, all ages have at least a few pleasers--even at the do eve level.

Oh, gosh. I forgot about Irene. Great time to be in Florida. Guess I'd best watch the news &see what's going on with that.

Now put another good day with this one.

Just figured it was time for it to happen again.

Happens every once in a while.

With problems while back wasn't surprised.

Hi,

I am fining it hard to post here.

There are not enough curse words in the English lanuage to describe how much I hate this net book hubby bought last year. It is total garbage and I would almost rather be cut off from civiilzation than have to use it.

I am hiding from the apple store and post poning dealing with my mac. I can only do one extra thing a day beyond what is absolutely necessary.

Today I have to go to the bank.
M

BlueCarGal 08-23-2011 06:00 PM

Oh,no! Hiding from the Apple Store?!

Well, Mari, I've heard that general sentiment about a lot of net books, although I think the Mac Air is adorable!

I guess I've forgotten what's wrong with your Mac. OMG, if I had to hide from my Apple store I'd have nowhere safe to hang out!

Hope today at work was okay...

Dmom3005 08-23-2011 06:20 PM

Sending you hugs and hoping you get the computer
fixed.

HI, Blue CarGal

After I installed Snow Leopard on purpose, I also installed Lion by accident.
I can' use the mouse or the key functions.

The apple store is a drive away across a few towns and a lot of traffic. I can't get there while I am working, Maybe I can call on Thursday to drop the computer off on Sunday. Hubby is being really really grouchy about money. I want apple to do this as an easy / cheap fix.

The last time I took the computer to apple, they kept it for three weeks.

M

waves 08-24-2011 03:58 AM

hopefully this time they can get things straightened out quickly for you, Mari. sorry the place is so far away.

i do fully appreciate wanting an authorized Apple store to do the work on a Mac. I would not let anyone else touch a Mac.

edited to add......

wow... i just pulled up the list of all stores in the country:
http://www.apple.com/retail/storelist/
not exactly one on every block. except maybe some areas of California...

Snow Leopard v Lion

That's right! I remember. Lousy memory--thanks!

Dmom3005 08-24-2011 01:43 PM

Good luck Mari

Donna:grouphug:

OhKay 08-25-2011 02:14 AM

Mari,
I don't think your mac issue will be too expensive. It's not an electrical problem or issue with the computer guts.
They may even be able to straighten it out at the genius bar. They can diagnose and fix lots of problems there. Unfortunately I've been there myself.
I go online to make an appointment beforehand so I don't have to worry about lines.

Mari 08-25-2011 02:45 AM

Dear Kay,
I'll try to call tomorrow.
M

waves 08-31-2011 04:48 PM

Dear Mari

are you still using the hated netbook or were you able to get an appointment for a "mac-doctor?"

just wondering.

i am thinking you might have deferred repairs till after parental visit. but i know you were hating the net book. maybe you have adjusted to it some and are hating it less tho...

By any chance do you have one of the Mac OS's on a disk or a full backup on a flash drive? Or any restore discs?

I'm not sure if you were doing a fresh install or an upgrade but here is some info from the Mac forums-
http://www.macworld.com/article/1610...ete_guide.html

I don't know if there is any key combinations that can return it to the previous OS. might say on the Mac forum/website.

maybe something in this link will be helpful -

Hi,

Ten days ago, I went to the apple store in mid afternoon on a weekday. The store was crowded and I was overwhelmed.

I told a store person about the Snow Leopard upgrade and the mouse problem. The first apple genius told me that the upgrade could in no way cause the mouse problem. Then he asked me where my mouse was. I said I specifically asked over the phone about having to bring it with me and the phone person said not to bring my mouse -- the store only need to see my computer. . . . .
My computer worked fine with their mouse and key board. The genuis told me I could try this or that to figure it out on my own. . . . .
I asked for a different genius.

I spent 60 seconds with genius #2 and bought a brand new mouse and a brand new keyboard that worked perfectly for about six days. When the mouse stops working, I cannot shut down. I unplug, wait 20 seconds, and then plug in again.
I asked hubby if he would come with me the next time I have to talk to any of them. He said yes.

Mari 09-01-2011 03:13 AM

Hi, Jomar,
I have the disks from an old operating system. I am concerned about my documents. I saved them once with Time Machine and can do another save. Probably the documents are readable in any of the last three or four upgrades.

I bossed everyone. The night went well.

Hi,

The night with hubby and parents went well. I was fine. I told everyone what to do. I drove. I reminded the back seat drivers (hubby and Dad) that I had been driving these same roads for exactly 30 years. http://bestsmileys.com/cars/6.gif
When Dad said he wanted such and such, I said fine. That is how it would be. No discussion. Settled.

We had a nice visit. :p  ;) :winky:

We meet them again in the am.
Hubby and mom play tennis. Dad and I hangout and perhaps work on his manuscript.

If hubby drives tomorrow night I will take enough Klonopin not to be concerned about much.

Hi,

The pilots will not fly in the bands of the storm.
At this time, parents are still planning on our driving them to the airport Monday a.m.
