I just don't understand.
I was doing well through the earthquake, aftershocks, and hurricane threat. Now I'm depressed, and uneasy about alot of things.
This has happened all of my life, and no one ever knew what this was when I was a teenager. I feel sad,and feel like crashing emotionally. I need to stay away from bad news on TV. Maybe a few science fiction movies will come on tonight, and help distract my mind from depressing, and emotionally gripping programs, and bad news. I wish that I could sort of turn myself off for a little while when these emotions bombard me. BF:hug::grouphug::grouphug::hug: |
I hope that you find some show to distract yourself steve. I am sorry you suffer with anxiety so.
((((HUGS))))) bizi |
Dear Steve (((Hugs)))
Do some funny stuff... like, watching cartoons !! :D or read easy stuff like kitchen recipies... or something... Try not to think much about bad news  And remember our Lord is protecting you... anddddd want you happy ! :) |
((( Steve )))
i hope you feel better soon. i think this is a "slump" from all the hype. but even if it is a natural mood swing. i agree definitely get away from the news because this is the worst of it... the damages etc. scifi cartoons anything ... but fiction, and light stuff. let the kid inside you come out for a while, and just play. like CarGirl with her kitties. i mean being in touch with reality is fine, but being pummeled by the media with all the negatives in reality is NOT. hope you feel better soon  ~ waves ~ |
i am sorry Steve you are going through this. There was so much hype i am not sleeping and don't know how to come down from it. I guess time will be our friend. I am trying to read

That cartoon, "Family guy" makes me laugh so hard... hahaha :) Just suggesting...
oh, and playing video games !!! I have my very old nintendo and it is sooooo helpful ! |
I stay away fron the news, newspaper and emotional shows...my doctor suggested it. I can't handle it, so i stay away from it...i do suggest spongebob! He is hilarious. I get made fun of by some people for nlot keeping up with current events, but i don't care. I never ever know anything about political stuff either....i have no idea what the vice presidents name is. Hee hee hee ! True!!!
|
Dear CBlue
nice to C you (been a while) ... i am the same way with the news. emotional shows i can handle to some degree but that degree varies. mostly, if it's fiction, i can handle it... even if it's gory LOL. like all the vamp shows. the reality-like tear-jerker movies are actually harder on me. anyway i know what you mean about (not) keeping up wiht current events and politics. doesn't interest me either. it is annoying that my parents sometimes watch the tv in this room, but lately they've been more sensitive to the fact that i'm a mess and can't deal, and go watch it in their room. Steve.
how are you holding up? i saw an ad for scooby doo cd's today. i can't afford to buy them but i remebered how much i used to love ol' scoob. they probably rerun it in the mornings at some time i will have to look for it. i hope you are finding things to take your mind off your worries and are able to relax more. do you like to read? sometimes i find reading more relaxing. if my mind is not so flighty that i can follow the text. i was thinking like science fiction. there are tonnnnnnnnnnnnnns of star-trek novels out there... old series, new generation, ds9, hybrids, i've seen a bit of everything. some are so so but some are quite decent. they are independent stories from the tv series' story-lines, but they are generally consistent with character portrayals and are not in conflict with the "real" storylines. of course there is lots of other good scifi out there. these are just, pretty short, and pretty light reading, so i thought i'd suggest it. sending hugs and good thoughts.:hug::hug: ~ waves ~ |
Hi Waves
I'm hanging in there. I am depressed, and have that anxiety pain in my chest. This happens to me,and I don't know why. I don't seem to have any energy. I'm not interested in very much of anything right now.
My reading is hindered by a reading problem. I think that it's dyslexia, and OCD combined. I still read, but not for long periods of time. I do like science fiction. I wish that I had a better report. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
Movie time?
If there's a library nearby, you could request a bunch of sci-fi movies & have your own film festival. What do you think? Popcorn, Good & Plenties?
|
I will get better. This type of thing doesn't last to long. I just have to live through it till I feel better. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Dear Friend,
What do you do to amuse yourself? The radio you have? M |
Thank you Mari.
I'm mostly watching TV. I have the scanners going, but the local police are silent right now. They also use computers, cellphones, and blackberries. I hear very little on the radios.
I could go to Shortwave radio,or High Frequency, and listen to Worldwide broadcast,Amature Radio operators, and utility frequencies, but it takes so much time finding something worth listening to. I'm just blah right now. My moods will get better probably soon. They sometimes get worse if someone,or the News freaks me out. I'm trying to stay away from the news, and what the government wants to cut. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
Dear Steve,
sounds like you have a good plan for emotional self-preservation in place. :) i do hope you feel better soon.:hug::hug: ~ waves ~ |
:hug::hug::hug:Steve:hug::hug::hug:
I check out by watching a lot of TV, too. It numbs the mind, but I also watch a lot of educational programming. Crime shows- they usually catch the bad guy. And adult cartoons and some kids cartoons. Comic books are entertaining and the reading is light. And you can also get very inexpensive used movies on amazon and ebay- they tell you the condition in the advert. I hope this lets up for you soon! Hang in there! Kay |
Old VCR tape
Ever heard of an old Chinese film, Red Firecracker, Green Firecracker? Really good, fabulous music trak. I'd forgotten what better quality VCR was compared with DVD.
I love getting lost in another culture & historical period but with characters simply motivated: love, hate, greed, fear, desire. |
I watch numb tv too

Hi, BlueCarGal, I looked up Red Firecracker, Green Firecracker. It looks like a beautiful film. I'd like the strong female lead. Netflix has it --- not that I want to go through the trouble of dealing with Netflix. Hi, Kay, Do you ever watch Thomas the Tank Engine? I caught it a few times when i was still up. Hi, Kay, BlueCarGirl, Waves, Steve, I'm embarrassed to reveal too much of my tv viewing habits to show how boring I am. I only watch shows that are not very interesting. I don't want to get drawn in -- like a b movie on cable that is so bad I don't remember that it ever came out. . . . . or a movie I watched five times already. When I watch, I turn the sound as low as possible so that the music does not "reach" me. I'm looking forward to a few shows coming back in the fall: The Good Wife ( law drama with some strong lead actors and a spring cliff hanger the writers might resolve sometime in the fall) and Parenthood (ok writing, strong actors). Last year both shows came on at the same time on the same night!!!! I used to watch Brothers and Sisters and Private Practice but I've gotten bored with them. They have been on too long and The Practice triggers me once in a while with too much medical. Brothers and Sisters was cancelled in the beginning of the summer. I like the comedy the Big Bang Theory, but I can see tiring of it. I watch the period pieces on Masterpiece when they come on (not very often) because they are eye candy fluff-- fun to watch for the costumes and the dialogue. Maybe we will have some new series in the fall. My favorite show this summer was Morning Joe that I record to watch later. I can't explain why I like it. I like the Mika and Joe personas although in real life I hate Joe's political views ( and he is one of the ones with a dead intern problem who can never run for office again). I usually only watch the first 20 mins for their slant on yesterday's news and I sometimes learn a few things from their regular guests. I don't like the featured guests . . . .stop watching when I get to someone selling their book or whatever. I've made a little vow to update my self by watching and learning a little about basket ball. My students often refer to the games. M. |
Friend
Dear Steve,
What is happening with you? I hope that you are managing as well as possible. 'Thinking about you and sending good thoughts.   M |
Thank you Mari. I have a number of things that I am concerned about right now. One big thing, and a number of minor things more than usual. I'm having several technical difficulties with my electronic hobbies.
The thing that I need to be is patient over a long period of time to resolve these problems. I need to work on not worrying about these things. My favorite TV shows seem to be disappearing. Star Trek the Next generation is leaving the air at 2:10 AM. It's being replaced by one of those up to the minute style news casts. I really enjoyed that. It took my mind off world problems. They are taking away other good science fiction shows that I like. Science fiction is a good copeing mechanism for me. Right now I'm feeling better. Thanks for asking. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
oh geez. i am sorry they are taking away your shows, especially Star Trek: The Next Generation. do they ever still show the original Star Trek any more? here it's only occasional they will run one or the other, but right now they are running the original Star Trek at 6pm. i don't always get to watch it.
i hope you can find the patience you need with the troubles on the electronic hobbies. i am wondering if you are waiting to be able to get hard-to-find parts or something. (((hugs))) ~ waves ~ |
Thank you Waves.
Right now they are not showing any of the Star Trek shows. The science fiction that they are showing now isn't very good in my opinion.
They show things sometimes on the Syfy channel that aren't science fiction. This has my attention, but there isn't anything that we can do about it. I don't think that they care. I have so many little problems that I'd call it a tall molehill. Hard to get electronic help for complex electronics. Car issues. Social Services. I have a list of things. Those things, and the TV news are bothering me. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
((( :circlelove: Steve :circlelove: )))
showing at least one of the Star Trek shows should be a prerequisite for calling themselves the SciFi channel! humph! ~ waves ~ |
Steve I am sorry to hear about the increase in fretting. For me it can either be a cummulitive thing building up, or I will fret with worry when one of the kids are late.
Sick feeling in the heart, not even the gut. I can't understand about the start trek changes, they always are so popular. Remember the original star trek episode, the trouble with tribbles? My Fav episode of all the trek ones. Do you have Net Flix? THey often have great selection of movies, and the sesons of popular shows too. I really enjoy Quantum Leap. Hope distractions keep helping. di |
Hey Di
Oh yes. I remember the,"Trouble with Tribbles". They where eating the grain, and they started to die, because the Klingons poisoned it.
The Enterprise became filled with tribbles. They where on the Bridge, and everywhere. They where giving birth, and eating. I must have seen all of the original Star Trek TV programs over 15 times. I was going to a military academy when it came on TV in the late 60's,but I saw the re-runs over, and over. Star Trek(The whole franchise) is highly entertaining to me. I've never been to one of their conventions. I've never seen a movie star,or tv star in real life. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
The Trouble with Tribbles
Oh yes! The Trouble with Tribbles is a classic. (wait! all of "Classic" Star Trek is... classic!:cool:;))
anyway, here's a cute snippet from youtube you guys might re-enjoy. Star Trek: Are you running a nursery? I never tire of Star Trek. I like them all too Steve. Although it took me a little while to warm up to Voyager. ~ waves ~ |
Hi Waves. I liked that clip from,"The trouble with tribbles". That was cute. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Hiya
Mostly wanted to let you know you are in my thoughts and prayers Steve.
:circlelove: Any news on your end? Anything you want to share? ~ waves ~ with well wishes :hug::hug: |
Just thinking of you Steve. hope you are hanging in there.
:grouphug: ~ waves ~ |
Those tv news stations do tend to have bad news. Wish there was a tv news station that shares nothing but good news all the time. That would be sweet. I am sorry you feel depressed. Science Fiction movies are a lot of fun. I hope you can watch a few to help take your mind off the depression. What kind of science fiction movies do you like?
Get well soon my friend:hug: Sharla Quote:
