Charging ?
I had my Bos Sci implanted in Aug. I use it 24/7 . My remote shows 3 bars for the battery level. I try not to go below 2 bars but seem to need charging every 3 or 4 days. How does this compare with others use?
Sandy. |
Charging
Hi Sandy-Kay,
Although our SCS's are different that sounds about right to me, I too charged every 4 days and it would take roughly 4-6 hrs. You'll find the correct balance, I'm sure others here who have the same implant will give you tons of advice. All the best Sinéad :hug: |
Charging Sandy
I am a Boston Sci, easy to charge, matter of fact, I am due right now.... I slap it on when I notice two bars, and it takes about 45 min. BUT my charge lasts a good deal longer than 3 or 4 days. Likely as you settle in to a rhythm of use you will notice your charging events spread out a bit as well. All will be well, just take the blessing of the stim and "RUN" with it!! Give yourself time to get into your body's rhythm with it and you will feel more comfortable over time.
At least we are not like a Nevro, which requires daily charging of hours duration..... mais oui? Come to the Cyber Dance.... it is fun.... take your mind off the stim a bit and "kick your heels in Pooh's barn" especially since she has not chimed in and has not a clue we are there :D :Dancing-Chilli::Dancing-Chilli::Dancing-Chilli::Dancing-Chilli::Dancing-Chilli: Mark56 |
Good thread Sandy!
It's amazing to me how much differentiation (wow, that's a big word for me!) there is with everyone's unit! I'd love it if mine could last as long as Mark's.
Like Sinead, mine lasts about 4 days before I get into the 1/2 tank area and I certainly don't want to go past that for fear of it running all the way down without me realizing it. It's a big no-no to let it drain all the way. I run mine pretty much 24/7 also with the exception that I turn it off once i awhile just to see how long my pain takes to kick in, thus making me ever grateful for this device Mine takes about 2-3 hrs to charge. I hate it when I've watched a nice long movie and then AFTER the fact I think "Geez, i coulda been charging my unit during the movie!" Rae  |
St Judes Ans
Hi
My stim is a St Judes and since Ive had the faulty battery replaced I do get a little longer out of it. Before it was every second day I had to charge, now its about 3/4 days also. I let my battery go down 2/3's of the way and then charge it up. I do it at night while watching TV and it takes about 80/90 mins in total! Jackie :) |
Yay Jackie!!
Glad yor replacement battery is working on the good!
I just returned from a convention where they had, for a fee, a charging station for cell phones..... maybe I should have asked whether they could top off my charge. Now that would have been a hoot with all of their blank faces.:D:D:D Mark56:cool: |
Hi Sandy, I have the same brand stim as you. I also charge about every 4 days or so. It depends on which program I am using. The rep explained that some programs use more "juice" than others. I am a 24/7 user and recharge when I have two bars showing. Remember not to use heat (heating pad) while charging as this causes the battery to overheat and shut off before completing a charge. Lisa

Maybe it is the couch or chair or laying in bed. I never thought of that. Lately it just seems to take 3-4 hours. I'm meeting the rep in the morning and I'll ask him. Thanks.

Here's a Prayer....
That your rep has a solution for you Sandy!!!! It just seems your charging phase is too long, longer than the literature advertises. Maybe like Jackie you have a faulty battery inside.... could be, ya know?

My rep thinks that I may not be positioning the charger directly on the battery. The belt shifts around and the charger doesn't stay in place. I have a hearing loss and don't hear high pitch sounds very well. It's a challenge for me to hear the beeps. The beeping drives my husband crazy. The rep suggested I contact cust. service and order the self adhesive patches. They should be here in a couple of days. Has anyone used the patches?
Sandy |
Sticky
The adhesive works....... Sticky... so take care peeling the charger off when the charging cycle is complete.
Hugs, Mark56:grouphug: |
To be honest, I quit messing with the belt and attachments. I just place the charger directly over the battery unit and make sure that the contact signal reads strong. Then I just sit still and watch a movie or lie down to sleep.
I found it nearly impossible to be up and around while trying to charge. Just me. :o I'm a weenie |
Pete and Repeat
Played this one as a kid. Rae is "Pete" and I am "Repeat" here since I do the same. No adhesive. Just use a convenient piece of waistband elastic found on something I wear to hold the battery charger in place as I lay in bed to charge. TV, doze, whatever, until the top is reached.
Yup, Mark:D |
PETE and RE-PETE :D That's the names we picked out for our twins.....
....But my HUSBAND says that their REAL names are... OOPs & BOO-BOO! |
Har
Dee Har Dee Har Dee Har Har..... never thought of that....... but when our twins were in the intensive care unit so many years ago there were three sets of twins and the other two were named with rhyming names..... one set being Ramey and Jamey...... I reckon we could have named ours Flip and Flop..... but then there was the dear young lady one time who actually had little education and figured the hospital had named her little girl, so she came to be known as Fe Male, pronounced feh molly.... one of our friends had the little girl as a student in school.
honest native American [can't say injun no more, even though I are part one], Mark56:rolleyes: |
I was advised to charge the Nevo daily for an hour. I only had it implanted last Tuesday so it's all new to me but so far charging it each night in bed is working out well.

So Good to Know Dubliner!!

I have found that if i am sitting in the recliner it takes much longer to charge because the unit heats up enough to automatically shut off due to being too warm. I usually sit at the kitchen table with a book and a cup of coffee or practice piano while I am charging. I do use the sticky patches and it seems that if I am doing something that requires a lot of movement I have difficulty charging.
