Sally's in the hospital

Last week Sally posted on another forum that she had fallen trying to get from her scooter into her daughter's van to go to the Dr. for a routine appointment. She hurt her good leg. Her daughter could not help her successfully get back on her scooter so 911 was called to get her back into the house. Last we heard she was on the couch on a "Puppy Pee Pad" with ice on her leg. Then nothing for 4 days.

Yesterday I found an old address book that had her home and cell numbers from about 7 years ago. She is in the hospital. Nothing is broken but she is in a fair amount of pain and having problems with spasms from the injury. PT is working with her and she hopes she will be home sometime this week. She asked me to post this news here and ask you all for your healing thoughts and prayers and tell you not to worry.

Kitty 11-21-2011 03:37 PM

Telling us not to worry is like setting a plate of chocolate in front of us and telling us to try and not eat it! :D

I hope she can arrange in home care to come and help her out. I know she wants to be at home.

Snoopy 11-21-2011 03:38 PM

Thanks for passing along the information, Cherie.

Please let Sally know prayers and thoughts are going her way. I hope she is home and doing better soon.

Blessings2You 11-22-2011 06:07 AM

Oh Sally, we'll all be so glad when you're out of the hoss piddle.

Lynn 11-22-2011 06:18 AM

Thanks Cherie

And very best wishes for Sally. I hope this is only a temporary setback for her.

Lyn

Cherie 11-22-2011 08:04 AM

There is no doubt in my mind she will have a CNA and a PT at home at the very least. I am sure they will push a skilled nursing facility but I know Sally too well to think she would allow that if there was any possible way to avoid it. I will try to call again later today and update after the doc, PT, and dischange team have visited her and put their heads together.

Debbie D 11-22-2011 10:23 AM

Cherie, please tell her we're praying for her and miss her...

hollym 11-22-2011 12:34 PM

Add my thoughts and prayers to the list. I do hope she recovers quickly and can get some in home help.

Jappy 11-22-2011 06:27 PM

Ooooo Sal-Pal now I know why I didn't get an answer at your home.

After so many days of not hearing from you, I found your home # and
tried calling.

My prayers are with you, I know you are a fighter and you will make it
out of the hospital and in time will be able to be on your own again.

Thanks Cherie for the information, I didn't have her cell only home #.

If and when you talk to her, please tell her Joyce sends her love and
prayers.

Jappy :hug::hug:

Aarcyn 11-22-2011 08:17 PM

Hey Sally. Thanksgiving is almost here. I spent a Thanksgiving in the hospital. A friend snuck in a piece of pumpkin pie since I was on a strict diet with no sweets.

So just thought I would post in one of the Sally threads to let you know I am thinking about you and hoping those hunky male nurses/doctors are waiting on you hand and foot.

EddieF 11-22-2011 08:35 PM

Get well Sally & wondering if anyone's bringing some "clear fluids"

ewizabeth 11-22-2011 09:13 PM

Hey Sally,

We want you to feel better and be home to your puppy and your own bed. Saying a prayer right now for you.

P.S.

Is your doctor cute? Did you luck out and get a hunk? We want details girly.

Riverwild 11-23-2011 05:01 AM

Re: Sally

[When you see the names of the people Sally has touched, it is amazing. She is loved by so many, that I know she will be out of the hospital soon, and back here to be with us. I am glad we are all thinking of her. ginnie

Cherie 11-23-2011 04:00 PM

I tried both her #s yesterday early evening , this morning and just a few minutes ago. No answer. Perhaps her battery is dead and she is unable to receive calls. She did not tell me what hospital she is in. I'll continue to try and get an update.

Kitty 11-23-2011 07:37 PM

Thinking of you dear Sally. I know you'll check in when you have a chance but wanted you to know I'm thinking of you and hoping you recover quickly.

Sally just called me on the phone.

"They have delicous food food here. I'm gonna take this chef home with me."
"Tell them not to worry, there are no real hunks to keep me here longer than I need to be."
"They've moved me to the rehab wing and are doing PT with me every day and my weak side is getting stronger!" I asked about the pain and she said,
"That's the thing that's holding me back. If Only my good side did not hurt so I would be home by now."

She tells us that she will probably be in Rehab for at least another week but hopes to be home with visiting nurses by next weekend.

dmplaura 11-24-2011 11:30 PM

Thanks so much for taking the time to give us updates about Sally, Cherie.

Sally, I'll say not one but several prayers for you and wishing you a speedy recovery. I'm glad to hear that you're improving. Shame there's no hunks. :( That should be mandatory for all hospital stays for PwMS!

ginnie 11-25-2011 09:44 AM

Hi Sally

I am so glad you were contacted by someone to let us know how you are doing. You have been missed by so many people! We are all hoping that your pain and the weak side resolve so you can come home. Wait till you get all the messages wishing you well. My son is a PT so I know how grueling that therapy can be. Hang in there, and your strength will come back. I sure am thinking of you. Glad the food is good, as far as hunky dudes go, they still do make a person smile. Take care, and I will be glad when you are home, and so will everybody else. ginnie

Kitty 11-25-2011 09:53 AM

So, so good to hear you're doing so well, Sally. I can't wait till you're home and posting again. You have been missed more than you'll ever know.

barb02 11-25-2011 06:17 PM

Just got home from Texas this afternoon and saw this post. Adding my prayers and wishes for a speedy recovery.

Cherie 11-26-2011 12:11 PM

Update Saturday noon time (11/26):
Sally had just gotten her wonderful lunch (I think she's really romanticizing about taking the cook home with her) so we did not speak for long. She wants you all to know that PT is going far better than she had anticipated and she is getting stronger (and in less pain) by the day and is still hoping for a return to home by late next week.

She is also going to look into whether or not the rehab wing has wireless and have her daughter bring in the laptop if it does so she can get back on line. She had not even thought about that till I asked today. She sends her love and thanks to everyone for your support and thoughts and prayers for her recovery.

Kitty 11-26-2011 12:14 PM

Thank you so much for keeping us up to date with Sally, Cherie. I'm glad she's doing so well.....and I'm just a little jealous that she has her own personal chef. ;)

ginnie 11-26-2011 01:59 PM

Debbie D 11-27-2011 05:25 PM

I'm glad she's getting stronger with PT...a silver lining in the cloud, perhaps...

tkrik 11-28-2011 10:01 AM

Cherie - Thanks for keeping us updated.

Kitty 11-28-2011 10:39 AM

What's for lunch today, Sally?! Have you made the chef an offer to come and cook for you? :D That's awesome that the hospital food is so good. That's unusual but to me anything someone else fixes always tastes better!

We miss you!

Debbie D 11-28-2011 03:08 PM

Praying that Sal is back soon...all back to normal...
