Is this something that can wait?
I woke up today really really numb. More numb than I had been earlier this week. (my butt is so numb, going to the bathroom a few minutes ago was...interesting) It's mostly down my right side, and it's really really uncomfortable. My right leg is weak and both legs feel really tired.
Is this something that I can wait till tomorrow to call my neuro in a panic, or should I call him in a panic today at his emergency number? I'm also dizzy today, and just feel really bad. |
For what it's worth, my opinion is always that if you wonder whether or not you should call, you probably should.

I just dont know if I'll get my regular neuro, or one of the other guys in his office. Not sure what they'd do for me other than listen to me kvetch (complain) about it and then tell me to call tomorrow for an appointment.
It's just annoying when things like this come on over the weekend. It's not like it just hit me this morning, it started friday afternoon (after the neuro's office closed) and has been building up all weekend. Not even sure if I want the neuro to Rx me some steroids, or if I just want to complain about the whole thing because I'm uncomfortable and irritated that this happens every year now. He'll probably offer me steroids, and I really dont want to do those, but if they offer them, I know I'll take them because I'm a big baby and dont want to sit and wait for this stuff to go away on it's own (if it's going to go away at all) |
4 more hours till I can call my neuro.
Started having signs that I've got an infection a little bit ago. (well, that would explain a few things...) Had no clue there was any infection in the area where I think I have an infection. No symptoms at all until about an hour ago. (back pain, pain in another area, the fact that I keep having to go potty) wish I could sleep!! At least there's a few people on Twitter with MS who will talk to me a bit when I cant sleep. I can feel a small invisible boa constrictor setting up shop and trying to hug me over the left side of my ribcage. I hate those invisible boa constrictors. I need a snake handler to come get it. think I'm going to go cry and try to curl up into a ball on my bed and hope sleep happens. |
Hope you're having a nap...
|
I got about 3 and a half hours of sleep. I guess I can call that a nap.
I'm waiting for my neuro to call me back. I already got an appointment to get checked for a UTI later this afternoon. Feel like crap this morning. Right leg was really really really stiff when I woke up. It still is. Last night when I was trying to put sweatpants on, it felt like I couldnt control my foot very well to get my leg into the pants. Before I fell asleep, my right foot was so numb that it hurt. Like a really achy pain. I cant describe it well. It just hurt. I'd love to go back to sleep, but our cleaning lady is going to be here in about a half hour so I dont really see the point of sleeping. Plus the neuro hasnt called back yet, if I stay awake, I'll be able to answer his questions and tell him what's going on, hopefully without forgetting anything. |
Erin, I'm sorry you are feeling so crappy. I am sure you have heard from your neuro by now. Let us know how you are doing and what he/she said.
|
Still waiting...hope he calls before I go to the other doctor to get checked for a UTI.
|
Please feel better erin..
|
and...I'm still waiting.
Bored to death waiting!! The receptionist said he'd call me in about 20mins, and that was nearly 2hrs ago. I guess someone with more problems than me must have gotten to him first. |
Neuro just called me back. I am now the proud owner of a bottle of oral Prednisone. Merry Christmas to me!
yay! (and crap! love the steroids, but hate the steroids!) |

Do you have a UTI as well? ANNagain (stillstANNding) |
hey! What a surprise, I have a UTI! (no wonder!)
I also have eczema on my shoulder (remembered to ask about the itchy spot on my shoulder while I was there) I'm really annoyed, this UTI didnt even give me a hint until last night and that was only for a little while. I guess the MS Christmas Troll got me an early Christmas present. Too bad I cant return this one. Exchange it for something else maybe? (really, I just want the cash) |
do you think the oral predinsone with help? just doesn't seem like enough!
|
I know, I always think it's not enough too, but I cant really afford the IV, my dad just retired and I dont have a job. I have insurance, but it's like a $3000 deductible. (it is the end of the year tho...)
I'm about to go take my second dose. I did feel a little improvement last night, well, really it was about 5am this morning when I felt some numbness let up. I was trying not to vomit at the time tho, so I couldnt really enjoy it tho. Either the oral pred or the antibiotics was making me ill, or Applebees tried to poison me. Still feel a little queasy. Probably because I've only slept about 4hrs today. I'm gonna go take my 2nd dose and some stomach medicine and then go try to lay down again. Hope I'm not going to throw up or anything. |
I hope you start feeling better soon. Once the UTI clears up you should be doing much better. It's amazing how infections can cause such issues with our MS. Feel better, Erin.

I managed to get some sleep. Amazing how much better I feel now that I slept a few more hours.
It felt like some of the numbness let up last night, but now this morning some is back. I can kind of move my toes now. This flare is really scaring me. I have symptoms of drop foot. Which means I have some paresis in my legs and feet. This is really scaring the crap out of me. It's both feet, the right more than the left. Not happy at all. The prednisone better freaking work and make this stuff go away and not come back. Gonna go be terrified now. |
