Lightweight Vacuum

I know this isn't a normal forum question, but I really need some input.

I am unable to push the upright vacuum we currently have and wondered if any of you have found a good lightweight one you could recommend??

Thanks :)

Do what I did. Rip up your carpet and get laminate and then use a swiffer..:D I can do that from my scooter.

I have a Bissell easyvac and it's very lightweight.

We have an Oreck vacuum. it's not self propelled tho, but we also have cleaning ladies that come in and use it to vacuum for us. (we dont like it when a cleaning company comes in with a vacuum that's been used on the rest of the city of Omaha. I dont want other people's bedbugs being dragged into our house. Prefer they use our own vacuum)

I've seen another Oreck that's self propelled that I want to get for our next vacuum. If my current flare lets up, I want to get a new vacuum. (I'm weird, I like to vacuum sometimes. I consider it exercise)

Buy a roomba robot vacuum where you don't have to do anything! You can get a good one for around $200.

What is this vacuum you speak of?

Had one of those, loved it and gave it to DD when I got the laminate wood floors. Now I need to get one of those for cleaning & polishing wood floors and tile..:D Right now, it's my scooter with a swiffer..;)

I have an Oreck. I think it weighs 8 pounds....more when the bag is full. I'm probably due for a new one as this one is about 10 years old. I only have carpet in the bedrooms so I use a Swiffer type vacuum on the wood floors.

My Consumer Reports magazine lists 2 "bagged" Oreck vacuums as highly rated in handling:
Oreck XL Platinum Power team and Oreck Edge U8000 both very expensive at $600 and $800.
One that rated very good was the Dirt Devil Featherlite Bagless MO85845 for $50 (sold at Target)
I have none of the above, but thought I'd pass along the info.

Don't you think my siggy line is appropoux for this thread..:D:p:D

Thank you all for your replies.

I looked at the Oreck, but too pricey for me.

Does the Roomba REALLY work?

We have tile/wood in common areas and carpet in the bedrooms.

Works like crazy to pick up dirt/particles, but you still have to steam clean or mop tile and wood to clean.:)

The weight of vacuum cleaners is a major problem for me. I have an upright Eureka with attachments for serious vacuuming, but when I don't feel like hoisting it around, I have a Eureka bagless stick-type that I run around. It has a setting on it that enables you to run it over furniture too. It's much lighter weight and easier to handle though I do have to clean out the dustcup.

The Roomba ROCKS! it does a great job

The SCUBA also ROCKS as it washes the kitchen floor, bathroom floors, or other SEALED hardwood floors. no more sweeping, vacuuming or mopping! Whoo!

Now that I have all wood/tiled floors, I gave my roomba to my DD and am thinking of getting a MINT cleaner. Does anyone have one of these? It's cheaper (about 179.00 @ amazon) and you can use the swiffer cloths.
