Weather
The sun is shining brightly but it's only 19 degrees! I'm standing by my oroginal plan to NOT GO OUT!!
|
It's almost 1 PM - we have bright sun, almost no wind and the temp is 29.
This morning it was 15. I did go out. A day without Walmart is a day without sunshine. |
Wren
I get all my drugs at Walmart so I understand - I was there once this week!
|
I did go out....trust me, it was cold!
|
LOL i have 2 pair of socks on but i'm not complaining.... i love this cooler weather :) BUT if its gonna get this cold then we should have some snow to go with it
|
Barb - I just changed my prescriptions from a local pharmacy to Walmart. So far I'm not totally happy with them..... we'll see.
It's 35 this afternoon ..... hope it stays that way tonight when I head out again for Bible study at church. |
Wren
I wasn't too happy with them at first either, but they get better as thet get to know you. I like their practice of calling you when your order has been filled.
|
Friday
Alffee and I are trying to go to lunch Friday but we are expecting more snow and don't know whether or not the plows will clear the way to our favorite place!
|
Dang, its tough when you guys talk Fahrenheit and I talk Celcius.... lol... but I do remember and can kinda-sorta calculate... and have figured you all are very cold!!!
We're cold here, too. Guess that's cuz its winter! :grouphug: |
LOL i pulled up a conversion chart off the interenet. When i chat with my friend Julie in Austrailia she ALWAYS asks me what the temp is here so i tell her in fahrenheit and celsius LOL. i forget that you use celsius too Addy :o
|
Well the big Salt delivery truck made it in and out of our drive....and he obviously made it down the storm cellar steps. Right this min. it isn't snowing, the sun is trying to make an appearance but if we get the predicted snow again tonight....lunch is very iffy. :p
Thank goodness for books or I'd have cabin fever too! Am reading Hotel at the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. It's a lot like listening to my dad talk "history". Made a BananaCream Pie again...Mr.Alffe's favorite although he was torn because a good friend sent him a case of Graeter's ice cream in dry ice. You know it's good stuff when the first listed ingredient is cream. |
weather is perfect here in the mid 70s - low 80s ... wonder if Barbo would enjoy watching this link to view these special critters during her cold winter ...
it is the park we go to all the time ... Blue Spring :) http://www.savethemanatee.org/savethemanateecam.html |
Hi Barbo
Hi, gosh that is cold. I should never complain when it is 40 outside. I live in fla after living up north all my life. I was surprised to find out our winters do get down to freezing, but it rarely snows. I am near The pPort of Tampa. I don't think I could move up north again. I would be just like you wanting to stay inside! Stay warm, and I hope the winter there is not too bad. I don't miss it I have to say. take care, ginnie
|
Frrrrreeeezzzzing here..... I think we got about 5 inches of snow... I know this is nothing compared to some of you... but I'm a baby. I LOVE looking at the snow... just HATE the cold! It's 12F (-11C)
I don't have any appointments until the 9th of February... so we'll see how it goes.....sounds like hybernation is back in my future. For those of you in the snow zone be safe... watch out for others. For those of you in the warm zone... have fun and enjoy!!!<----for all Abbie |

I couldn't get through on the link you sent! All I got was "Pause" or "Shrink". I gave them my email address and only saw one picture - a body of water with trees overhanging. Too bad - I bet it was wonderful. Thanks for the thought - Im sick. Love, Barb
|
if it is a black screen it is because it is dark outside . You have to give email but that is to keep track of the views I think. it works for me . :grouphug: hugs and prayers for the room and readers :sunchair::Heart: is the kind of weather I am sending to everyone .
PEACE Tina |

I tried again and saw 3 pics this time! Thanks. Love, B.

Re:Pie
:D Hi Affle, are you inviting every body over for some of that pie?:D sounds wonderful. Stay warm up there. It is nice where I live and I wish I could have all the members down for a vacation today. ginnie

OK, so there is something here I don't understand - why does a truck deliver salt? Is it salt for your driveway - to get rid of ice? And gosh, how much salt do they deliver that you just can't pick up a bag when you need it? Here in Canada we buy salt at the Gas Station and sometimes you see it at Walmart. I've used it to get rid of ice on the sidewalk. I have purchased one bag of salt in my whole life. OK, that's enough thinking about salt.
Our temp has gone from -10 celcius to +10 in a matter of a day - snow to rain... and snow is all melting... which is causing horrible flooding in some areas (not here at my place, tho). You know the saying: when it rains, it pours! :grouphug: |
Tomorrow, tomorrow and tomorrow .... that's what I'm thinking about. Tomorrow the temp will go to 55!! But, gee, a good temp is creeping in its petty pace.
|
You know the saying: when it rains, it pours! (more salt conversation?:D)
It's for our water softener..that's why I had to shovel off the storm cellar doors. :p It was only 5 degrees on our back porch thermometer this morning when I let Cassie out and boy she didn't stay long. We didn't get the predicted 4 to 7 inches of snow but there is still plenty in our driveway. I could easily get stuck there. Tomorrow, and tomorrow and tomorrow creeps at its petty pace from day to day...now that will be stuck in my brain all day! ;) soon to be yesterdays |
ummm, weather.
varying between really hot and just hot, and really humid and really humid, and sometimes really sunny and humid but mostly wet. :o http://www.albireo.ch/temperatureconverter/table.htm |
Hi lara
Hello to down under. I always wanted to see your country. I know it does get hot. I am in Florida, so I know about heat in the summer too. I don't miss the cold. Do you have any measurable winter weather?, or is it hot all the time?. Florida, really does have seasons and we get down to freezing. Glad to hear from someone so far away. It is amazing that we can communicate accross many distances. Take care and glad to meet you Lara, ginnie:D
|
Hi again ginnie,
Yes, it is an amazing thing to be able to communicate this way. I gauge my winter by the need to wear socks. If I need to wear socks, it's cold. We are wimps though. It does get cold for us for a little while in the winter, but it's not really cold, we just think it is. :) In my area the seasons tend to blend into each other. We're pretty hot from October to April I guess but like everywhere, it varies. I'm coastal and sub-tropical so it certainly doesn't get freezing here, but other parts of Australia further south and up in the higher areas (mountainous) get regular seasons. p.s. this is what is going on at my local beach at the moment. I remember WhoMoi once telling me about the turtles up there in North Carolina. It's pretty incredible when we think about it because both there and here gets bashed up with wild weather so often, yet they keep on going back to the same areas, year after year.
|
Hi Lara
I kind of do the same with socks as you do. I am coastal also. I will have to get a map out and see what lines we are on in relation to each other. Your seasons are opposite of ours. It is our winter here, and it is 77 outside. As I said we do get down to 32 now and then. I have seen alot of picures of your country. Especially that Red mountain that seems so isolated from all other mountains. I heard that was a big tourist attraction. I live in a tourist area in Fla. I was one of those myself, so I call myself a transplant. I was raised near lake Michigan, North of Chicago. I guess I had enough of the cold, and I wanted to stay in a warm climate. Sub tropical is what we are clasified also. Have a good Day Lara, I am always interested to how people are in different locations. Now that this is possible, I think it is really cool. take care, ginnie

280mm rain measured at sugar bag road just near me yesterday. Similar expected today.
That's just over 11 inches. 2 good things about flooding rain. First, it's summer, so it's not cold rain. Second, I found a green tree frog. First I've seen in the yard of this house in years since I've been here. That's a good sign. :o |
I'm excited that we are getting a very much needed rain as i type.... i doubt we'll even get an inch much less 11  but i'll take what we get as we are very very dry here in Oklahoma...
|
Lara... I can only imagine the downpour that would create a flash flood!
Ginnie - you and Lara make me laugh about the socks! :grouphug: |
Thank you, Addy. It's not looking good here for the next couple of weeks. Doesn't help that we're all still somewhat traumatized by what happened 12 months ago. Still... one must be hopeful and as that old saying goes, keep strong and carry on.
socks... when I was in your neck of the woods I needed to wear 2 pair of socks at the same time! I remember going for a walk around the block at one time and I could barely breathe. The air was so cold it was burning. |
