I am nearly pain free
My pain for the past year has been 8 and 10 most of the time. I decided to get the pump put in. What a nightmare getting anythind done.
we tried a epideral of morphine. nothing and no communication since then. I started researching the electrical unit. While reading the info i thought it is only a little skin between the outside and my spine. Why wouldn't using my tens on the outside work as good as wires on the inside. I put the pads on either side of my spine near my crack. I treated myself 3 or 4 times a day. On the fifth day i awoke and i had no sharp pain in my feet. The only pain i have is the soreness from inflamation. It has been six days and i still have no pain. This is so much better than having an operation. If you have a tens try it .They can be bought online for as little as $32.00 and no script needed. I am using my third one. I hope it works for everyone. GEORGE |
Good for you, George!
Sometimes I think nerves keep firing even after the "insult" is gone. My MP was like that. Getting worse and worse, then I used Lidoderms on it...and in 2 wks..the nerve stopped. After YEARS of shooting agony. I use magnets too, the same way. They change the nerve firing and block it for a time. Not a cure, but better than drugs IMO. I am experimenting with 4 strong ones now sewn into a pad, and put on my back. Seems to be working for my back pain. Still an experiment however. |
That's great George! Mrs. D. that's a good idea. Please let us know how your experiment goes.

and will space them out soon. I also found a quilted knitting needle cover at a discount store. I plan on putting 4 in a row in that one. It took a while for the Amazon order to come this time, so I've been resting my hand and wearing my splint in the meantime. Alternating the polarity may be my next attempt!;) I have alot of arthritis in my spine... that is separate from my foot issues. This pad is for that, mostly. |
well done! improvement is a tricky road and can feel like 2 steps forward 1 step back at times so try and keep your current mind set throughout :)

Thanks again Mrs D, you always say the right things at the right time for me, I have had two nerves shouting and screaming at me since my last lidocaine infusion - it was torture until I read the above post last night and looked for lidocaine patches which I received last year and had put on my spine with no results. I placed them last night on the two nerves and eurika  they have stopped their nonsense. I slept all night for the first time in ages. |
What is a tens

Could you please explain the tens as I have foot pain all the time and I think I would like to try that. Thanks VP6203 |
tens unit
a tens is a 9 volt device used to help sore areas of your body but also to scramble the nerve signal from the pain spot to your brain. That can lessen the pain or maybe stop the pain.
Type tens unit in your search engine and you will find them. They are all much alike but can vary in price from $32.00 to over a Hundred. No prescrit ption needed for most. Praying for a pain free tomorrow.. GEORGE |
nearly pain free
I am still treating myself with my tens.Still no pain. How can i get rid of the inflamation in the bottom of my feet? They don't hurt real bad i still cant walk a long distance. Anyone.

I was using a TENS/muscle stim unit that I got for around $80. I was putting the pads on my calves (I have foot pain like you). It mostly just distracted me from the pain rather than relieved it. Maybe I'll try your method. How many pads did you use?

By the way it is wonderful that you are feeling better. Wahoo! |
Shoes... What kind of shoes do you wear? I've been wearing a pair of Crocs my son got for me for over 2 years and as long as I have pain I'll never wear a regular shoe again.
The Crocs have this 'padding' in the soles and they're wide and comfy so no pressure points. I have two new pairs coming in the mail tomorrow. My son got them for me for my birthday. Check out the Crocs website. They make all kinds of shoes and styles...even high heals for women. It's not an exaggeration to say these shoes have saved my life. |
I am still pain free from the severe pain. I have started experimenting with different settings on my TENS. Try one for 2 weeks tnen try another. I am still taking my morphine and will trying lowering the amount slowly in May.
I am not expecting a healing of the nerves just relief. Only JESUS can heal the nerves. The only shoes i can wear are the soft padded athletic kind. In the past i have been to 3 Podiatrist and they could only take my money. I go to a pain doctor only for my Morphine. Will keep all informed hoping what i do will help others. GEORGE |

Latest news on useing my TENS
I have been using the TENS DAILY FOR 1 HOUR AT THE TIME 4 TIMES A DAY.
I wear the unit most of the day so i can turn it on anytime. If i miss a day and walk a lot or do anything else using my feet the pain will start that eveningand it will take me a day to reduce the pain. Starting today i wear the unit all day and and when it cuts off after an hour i turn it back on. At bedtime i remove it. The units implanted in your body or preset to operate 24 hours at the settings that give you the most relief. I can find no reason why you could not leave it on constant for 24 hours. LESS PAIN TO EVERYONE. GEORGE |

I have had the TENS at my physical therapist for maybe 15 minutes each time and it gave me a couple hours of relief. I hadn't used it in quite some time and would like to pick up a personal unit. FYI, I heard some good things about the PAIN GONE Pen (similar to tens), which I've ordered (from UK), and would be happy to post a review once I receive it and have used it for awhile. |
Hi Neuro,
I purchased this combo muscle stim/TENS: http://www.lgmedsupply.com/l8eltemustco.html but I think they must have bumped up the price...I remember it being between $80 and $90. I think it's pretty good. Hope this helps. |

Have you tried the wires from it in the tens unit ie. in water to compare ( i did it myself once) cheers, m |
I know TENS and Rebuilder run on very low voltage batteries....but still would like to stress caution with anything electric in water!
|
putting the leads in water is the only way i feel anything.
exercize due caution...........use a divided foot bath. put water on each side of the divided foot bath. put one electrical lead in one side of the divided foot bath and put the other electrical lead on the other side of the divided footbath. put one foot in one side of the divided foot bath and the other foot in the other side of the divided foot bath. you can put epsom salts in the water if you want. |

Ive used in a regular bath and had better results when it worked too using salts / electrolytes. The trick for me is was to use it at the lowest possible setting and to build on my awareness of it so I needed less to use more ( if you see what I mean ) this was with the rebuillder - ** m |
