10 days until Mardi gras!!!!
 

This is the carnival season and only 10 days left until mardi gras.
Much frolicking until then. Went to a concert last night and had king cake for the first time this year. It was very good. This afternoon they had the dog parade, dogs dressed up and owners throwing beads. We did not go to that one but did go to the club rio parades this evening. Those poor people!
We froze!!!!!!!
It was in the 30's and the wind was whipping about...man we were cold.
I felt sorry for the girls marching with the band in their tights....burrr!!!!! and the kids trying to play their instruments with out gloves.
We only made it thru half the parade and left. My raynaulds was in full form so I had to defrost my hands and feet with the heater in the car.
anyway it was fun we saw some friends of ours who left alot earlier than us.
I know that many of you good people deal with alot colder temps then us.
The forecast calls for rain and warmer temps then sunshine for the rest of the week. The forecst looks good thru mardi gras when the town all parties and even the mail stops on fat tuesday! The next day is ash wednesday the beginning of lent.(40 days before easter)
One of our friends gives up alcohol for lent, it is a good thing I am not catholic:)

Ahhh... Mardi Gras!!!!

I would Love to be in your area during this time of year!!! (I have a friend from your neck of the woods---graduated from high school there--and college @ ULL.)

I could never go to New Orleans... too crazy and have been told it's way crowded and a good place for pick-pockets "work". I love New Orleans any other time though... Jazz fest---oh yes!!!

Went to more parades last night what fun, weather cooperated it had rained all day and stopped around 4 pm. Caught a lot of beads met some nice people from oregon, they used to live in baton rouge so they were familiar with mardi gras but it had been 10 years since they were in lafayette so the town has grown some. We talked about food of course a main conversation topic in louisiana. She missed the food here but loves oregon.
One of my face book friends said that i should not have started my diet until after mardi gras, Fat tuesday and start wednesday for lent. I may just give up alcohol for lent. I think I have already lost a couple of pounds in one week. 2 parades monday night then all day tuesday. I think I told you before even the mail stops for mardi gras! Jeff is off monday thru wednesday.

I remember eating pancakes on Fat Tuesday when I was a kid.
